- Very Good
We loved the house and the location. We had a bit of an inconvenience the 1st two nights, because the air mattress had a hole. Then the replacement had a hole as well. Also there was one twin bed less than we were told. The only other problem with the house was the dryer; it took WAY too long to dry clothes, and especially towels.
“Fun vacation in Mission Beach”
Everything was great except when we arrived both trash cans were full to the max and we had to wait two day before trash pickup. The dryer was very slow to dry clothes and towels especially which was frustrating with 10 people who used towels each day. On the positive side, the house was very spacious and we really appreciated the enclosed back yard for the children to run around in. The location was very convenient to freeways and sightseeing.
“Needs a little spiffing up, but great location.”
Just needs a little TLC, otherwise great for what we needed.
“San Diego Experience”
Wish we could have stayed longer!
Our stay was perfect for kids and grandparents. Great back yard and deck, we grilled out one evening and had a great time. Very comfortable accommodations for 11 people. Short block walk to Bay Side Cafe and Bagel shop, two blocks to beach, very close to Sea World (saw the fire works every night) and fully equipped kitchen.Enjoyed a great family style meal at Mamma Mia's and kids went fishing from Pacific Beach Pier. House had three gathering areas so kids could be in one part and adults visiting in another plus deck was ideal. Easy drive to Balboa Park, Zoo, Old Town and airport. Would love to go again!!!
“Wedding Party Bliss”
I recently traveled to San Diego for 4 nights from NYC for the wedding of a great friend from high school. 8 of us from the wedding party stayed in this home and we couldn't have been happier. Knowing nothing really of the layout of San Diego, Mission Bay/Crown Point was the PERFECT location. What luck! It is central to pretty much everything u want to do/see in SD. The house itself is a bit dated in its decor, but is almost charming in that way that your group can poke fun of the wood-paneled walls and its all in fun. My ONLY gripes were: 1) the stereo in the formal living room that had the only iPod hookup in the house was not plugged in and there was no way to plug it in. 2) when I tried reaching SDVR on a Saturday evening, I didn't receive a call back til early Sunday morning (but this was because the answering service took the wrong number...but really???) ALSO, KEEP IN MIND it says that it can sleep 12. 3 of the beds are being counted as 2 sleepers (one of these is the pullout couch). Then there's the single + trundle bed. And I didn't see a blowup mattress, but we didn't need it. Prob more accurate to say, "comfortably sleeps 8-10, can sleep 12." All things said, it was perfection!
The house was large enough to sleep all our guests comfortably. We stayed in the same house two years and we were surprised how much the property had changed. The house smelled horrible. The management company return a phone call on Easter and got some one out to clean the carpets the next day. However, it turned out that the broken disposal was the cause of the bad smell.
This is the second time we have rented this property and we really like the house as well as the location. We had a few suggestions, another TV in upstairs bedroom and a kingsize bed would be nice since it's a big beautiful room. We loved the patio and it was only a couple blocks to a Great beach for younger kids. Also, thank you, Kathy , for solving our one problemso efficently and timely...I would be happy to recommend this property!
Response from the manager We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay once again this time and we look forward to your arrival in the future. We are happy to let you know that the owner did put a 32 inch Flat Screen in the upstairs bedroom but its still a queen bed!
“Awesome Vacation Rental Property!”
11 Family members stayed at this property for 9 nights in August, 2012. This was the first time we had chosen a vacation rental over a hotel and it couldn't have been better. There was plenty of space for everyone. We truly enjoyed the deck and walking through the neighborhood; very quiet and peaceful. Nearly every major attraction is within 10 minutes of the property; sea world is 1 mile away. The only issue was that the it was unseasonably hot (90+ and humid) during most of our stay and there was no air conditioning in the home. Please note: This was not the fault of the owner or SDVR because it is disclosed on the website...we were just unlucky with the weather. Thank you SDVR for making out stay wonderful!
“Great way to do a wedding”
When we found out my daughter was getting married in San Diego (which we know well), we decided to rent a house to accommodate us and other relatives coming in for the occasion. We chose this house due to a combination of price and location. We were not disappointed - the house was more than large enough for the six staying there, and for the various pre-wedding activities we hosted, which pushed the number to 11. Everything in the house worked as advertised (wifi and washer/dryer particularly important). The location is incredibly central to virtually all of San Diego. Nearby Ingraham St. is busy, but Yosemite is very residential and quiet. It is only two blocks to the beautiful concrete "boardwalk" around Mission Bay (great for walking/running/biking), a liquor store and cute coffee shop just a block away, 5 min. to Mission Beach and all it offers, etc., etc. We're accustomed to renting at the New Jersey shore, and the house was similar to many there. There were a couple of little things that could be improved: the addition of table lamps in bedrooms; with no a/c, a couple of stand-up fans for bedrooms (we found out you can't buy a fan in SD in Sept.!); addition of a set of beach stuff - a few chairs, beach towels, umbrella, etc. (you're at the beach, after all); having a few old beat-up bikes available. On the whole, a wonderful experience. We were truly sorry to leave, would definitely rent this house again.
