Description from owner

Description

In Proméry village, near stunning Annecy, this sunny 'maison bourgeoise ancienne' is a treat all year round. In winter you're spoilt with excellent, traditional family ski resorts (La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand) nearby and Chamonix Mont Blanc an hour away. In summer, swim in pure lake waters, hike or cycle: this is an area of outstanding natural beauty, its colours glorious in spring and autumn. Watch horses grazing and sunsets over Annecy, with panoramic alpine vistas, through huge windows in the lounge-dining room. An archway leads to the well equipped kitchen, where you'll be able to prepare delicious Savoyard specialities with the fresh local ingredients. Up the old oak staircase find stylish family bedrooms; the master with a great arched window for the views! Both have double and single beds, just ask if you need us to add a cot as well. Downstairs, there's a garden-facing double/twin, with WC opposite, ideal for older relatives and you'll find further sleeping options on double sofa beds in the lounge and on the lower ground floor. The feel is comfortable, spacious and homely, with good beds, crisp linen, attractive rustic and hand painted furniture. Outside a winding pathway leads to a dining terrace and barbecue in a gorgeous three level garden, then up to an enchanting woodland aperitif spot, with babbling brook below. Perfect for lazing in a deckchair or hammock!"La Maison de Proméry" has received a four star rating from the Haute Savoie tourist board, the coveted level three national quality seal by the Ministry of Tourism approved Clévacances France and has been inspected and recommended in Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay. A stone's throw from Annecy, the Venice of the Alps - its peaceful village location offers the best of both worlds, a picturesque rural hamlet, conveniently situated with great access roads to the town centre and lake (just 7km away) and the A41 motorway (2km) linking you quickly to some of the best ski areas in Europe and all the breath-taking beauty spots of the Haute Savoie region. In summer, after a day out enjoying some of the multitude of activities this exceptional location has to offer, there is nothing better than to relax in the large secluded, leafy gardens, or to sip an aperitif with a mountain panorama and Annecy twinkling in the background, before dining "al fresco" on the rear terrace.

Response from the owner Thanks for your kind comments and I'm glad you were comfortable at the house and enjoyed exploring the area. For the benefit of future guests it's worth highlighting that even though the house is very close to Annecy centre and the lake, the surrounding area has so much to offer visitors in terms of cycling, hiking and visiting, that it really is worth hiring a car if you are not bringing your own. I would, of course, be delighted to welcome you back for a future trip!

Response from the owner Many thanks for your review and I'm delighted that you all enjoyed yourselves and were comfortable at the house. Thanks for mentioning that a car is really important if you want to make the most of this beautiful area. I'm sorry you had to drive to pick up your breakfasts. In fact (for the benefit of future guests) you don't need to - the "tabac" in the village, a few minutes walk away has a daily delivery of fresh baguettes, croissants, pains au chocolate etc. If you want to be sure of getting everything you want you can always pop in the night before with your order and they will keep your fresh breakfast for you. Something to take advantage of on your next trip, as we hope very much that you'll be back soon!

“Skiing vacation in the heart of the French Alps”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2015

We travelled 9 people. It was plenty room for all guests. It is a big house with spacy rooms. The bedrooms are very cosy and gives you the feeling of being in a little castle. Also kitchen and bathrooms are absolutely perfect. Spent a lot of long evenings around the dining table. For us the location of the house was important. In this house you have the possibilities to ski in hundreds of ski resorts including the big ones as Chamonix, L la clusaz, courmayeur, Le grand bornard and so on. We all was very pleased about the stay and are very thankful for the stay. Would indeed recommend this to big families, friends and other groups.

Response from the owner I'm really pleased you enjoyed some precious "girl time" at our house and particularly that you found the beds so comfortable. For me, an important part of a holiday is being able to sleep well and feel rested, so I'm glad you felt the same way (the fresh mountain air helps too). Thanks for your kind comments about our service, you're welcome! I hope you will come back and stay at La Maison de Proméry again soon.
