Scott's condo was perfect for our nine days in Hawaii. The condo is beautiful, super clean, and very well equipped with cooking equipment, bed and bath supplies, and beach equipment including everything from snorkeling gear to beach umbrellas. Scott's suggestion that renters leave condiments meant that the refrigerator and pantry were loaded with things we did not have to buy. And, the location is perfect!. Makaha Valley is beautiful with mountains on three sides and the ocean on the fourth. It is in the middle of a relatively quiet area area inhabited mostly by native Hawaiians which added a richness to our visit that would have been totally missed in the more touristy areas like Waikiki. The area is close enough to Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Valley of the Temples, Diamond Head, Waikiki, the Iolani Palace, and various boat tours to make doing the normal touristy things easy without the massive crowds but is far enough away from them to not be overrun with tourists and the multitude of things aimed at getting our tourist dollars. The nearby Makaha Beach is beautiful, one of the best on the island and it is great for snorkeling (my grandson watched a two foot diameter sea turtle and many colorful fish) and traditional beach activities and it is only crowded on weekends when the locals set up canopies for big family gatherings. The pools at the condo complex are great and the many, many peacocks wandering around the grounds are an added enjoyment. Scott was very, very helpful with suggestions about a large variety of things and quick to respond cheerfully by email to questions about almost anything. On top of all this, the price was very attractive compared with rentals in the more touristy areas. I highly recommend this condo for a wonderful Hawaiian experience. Ronn Kerr
“Beautiful,relaxing at a GREAT PRICE !!!!”
I was a little hesitant at the quote being so low since this was my 3rd trip to the Islands. Was I suprised !! I spent 5 beautiful days at Makaha Valley and would go back again. I traveled with my husband and 3 grown teenagers with plenty of space to sleep and roam around. The unit was clean and security was everywhere.Staff was super helpful. Scott the owner answered every question right away and was HONEST. Toys and food left by previous tenants. Other than the drive to Honolulu(being from LA, it was brutal) but the drive was along the coast. We'll be back for sure.
We stayed at the condo in the Makaha Plantation and found the staff excellent and so friendly. The grounds were beautiful. The swimming pools were very nice but busy with families as we were there over the Labor Day weekend and the whole island was busy but we loved seeing all the locals enjoying the weekend with their families. The condo had two bedrooms and my 11 and 13 year old sons slept very comfortably in the second bedroom. They each had their own bed. We found the rooms very clean. The bathroom was as well very nice. The fridge had staple items in it and so dont buy groceries until you check the unit- as the cupboard shelves had staples as well. Bottom line the condo had alot of things in it that we used each day- tin foil for the bbq's outside on the grounds. Sandwich bags were there so that we could pack a lunch. We could even use the cooler in the entry way cupboard to take a picnic anywhere. There are beach towels so dont bring towels. The boogie boards are not in good shape that are in the closet but if you want to learn to surf there is a flyer on the side table in the unit - call danny Boro and he teaches surfing at a local Army beach called rest Camp. When we came back to the unit we felt like we were coming home. We cooked our meals each evening minus a couple of evenings. We made lunches each day to take with us and our breakfast was a very easy one- hanging out at the condo before we got going for the day. Check the freezer for coffee. There is a fully functional coffee put, stove and microwave. Yes there is a commute to some of the items that you want to see while you are on the island of Oahu - example Diamond Head is about an hours drive down when there is no traffic but at the end of the day in traffic (there is traffic) you will be driving 1.5 hours. We did alot of the places to see on the island and still it did not bother us to be staying where we were staying - because it was peaceful and quiet and the local beaches were beautiful. We had our own parking space that we was right in front of the condo. The local grocery store Tamura's was very good and the people again were so friendly. We as well well ate at Rest Camp on Army road where our boys learned to surf. We watched the most beautiful sunsets while sipping on our drinks. Once again the locals were so kind and friendly. There was as well local spot for breakfast on the same side as Tamura's that had great macademian pancakes - called I think Harrara's. Ask one of the locals at the grocery to direct you. They will be happy to. We did waikiki Beach twice but we loved the less touristy quieter location of the condo at Makaha Plantation. It was lovely!!
“The condo was an excellent choice for visiting Oahu.”
The condo was in an lovely, quiet area of the island yet near enough to lovely beaches and adequate shopping. The apartment itself was clean and contained just about everything we needed. The tv is on its way out but we didn't really spend a lot of time wanting to watch so that was okay with us.
“Best place on the west side to stay.”
What a great place to be!!! Scott, has a great condo, was there with four other people and more then a enough room. The view out the door was so pretty and the smell of the flowers was great. The condo was very clean and had very thing you needed for a day at the beach . I would rent there for my next trip to HI. It was a win win!!!!!!!
This place in great!!! Clean and had everything you would need in a home. Spectacular view with great sunsets. Price is very affordable and the owner is a great guy to rent from.
We stayed at this unit from Dec 7th to Dec 28th 2013, the unit was more then equipped for the duration of our stay, it has everything you could possibly need. The unit/building was quiet, the neighbours were amazing and beyond helpful with everything from directions to just having a great conversation over a cup of coffee. The plantation itself is very well maintained and clean. The unit is very close to (in our opinion) one of the best beaches in Oahu...Makaha Beach, its never crowded, the views are amazing, its beautiful, its awesome. I would definately come back and stay in this unit. The pool and hot tub onsite got used on those hot hawaiin nights, the peacocks were always wonderful to wake up to each morning. We loved the security at the entrance, they were pleasant, helpful and just a great group of people. Scott (the owner) was just a phone call away if we needed anything, he was more then happy to assist us! Thank you Scott for a great vacation!!! We definately will be back.
“Perfect - as expected”
This condo is awesome. Top floor, high roof, very sunny and clear. Nice view, very quite. You'll find everything you need in it, even beach stuff as snorkelling, towels, balls, lifesuit,... Everything is clean and confortable, the bathroom is all new. The property is nice and gardens are beautiful. Pools are ok (1 baby pools (2feet deep), 1 pool and 1 spa). It is perfet after a day at the beach. This side of the island is great, a lot of great beaches, not crowded. All of them got showers and bathroom. Waianae is a bit far from Hanauma bay, the north shore or even from Honolulu. Almost 45min-1h drive (or more if trafic). But you'll find everything you need on the west side... Our family (3 kids) loved the week we spent there.
Good Morning, Scott my trip was fantastic and your place was a wonderful stay very peaceful and serene. I and the family will stay there again in the near future (I anticipate) thanks for a great deal and being part of the makings of my family and I having good memorable times.
“Great Holiday accommodation”
It was wonderfully peaceful on the compound and in the unit (having had a sleepless night in Waikiki due to constant noise for the first night, this was highly appreciated). There was a lovely view through the large sliding doors looking out over the trees (we could see the sea in the distance) and there was a large window in the end wall under the vaulted ceiling where you could see the mountains. Scott had provided all sorts of things for his guests to use e.g. mats for the beach, cool boxes, buckets, spades, snorkels and masks for children (the large cupboard in the lounge was a treasure trove to look through) there were loads of books to read and pamphlets of things to do and see in Hawaii (when we had booked the unit he also sent through a list of places to go and eat in or to buy groceries and things to do on the island, which was very useful and unexpected. There was only one other unit on the top floor, I think that is a family home, we saw our neighbours a couple of times as we were returning to the unit, they were very friendly. The condo and about 50 minutes from Honolulu. It is a short drive to Makaha beach from the unit and Pokai Bay Beach Park where we went swimming, both beaches were beautiful and the water at Pokai was very calm. Although we were only on Oahu for a short time we did notice while we were travelling around the island that it was sunny and dry whenever we were on the west side of the island (from Makaha down towards Ko Olina) but as we got near Honolulu it seemed to drizzle with rain for a short while and although the east side of the island was very green it wasn't as sunny during the time we were there, I assume that is why the vegetation is so lush on the east side of the island. The condo wouldn't be suitable for anyone with a disability, there are 2 flights of stairs to climb but the view from the condo is worth the climb. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makaha Valley Plantation.
