Beachhouse with Great Ocean View

Note June 2018: Our neighbor has started construction on a retaining wall on the hill about 50 feel below us. The sound is noticeable, but not bad.

Enjoy the rainforest and wildlife without roughing it! Manuel Antonio / Quepos is one of the most popular tourist spots in Costa Rica, and this house has just about the best possible view there. Because this neighborhood has the best views in Quepos/Manuel Antonio and three beaches, it has attracted the pricier hotels in the area (Makanda, Mariposa, La Mansion, Issimo and Hotel Parador). We are an affordable 2 bedroom place with AC - much better value than our neighbors.

Available short term only, maximum 2 weeks.

DISTANCE TO THE BEACH: To get to the far end of Espadilla beach (the opposite end from the National Park) and to Dulce Vida beach, walk downhill on the left hand fork in front of the house for one kilometer (0.6 mile). The road dead ends at one end of the largest beach, Espadilla beach; Dulce Vida beach is to the right, around the rocks; this one is known as a gay beach. All of them are white sand beaches, good for swimming. There is also another beach following the right hand fork, better for small children with less waves.

The main photo shows the south view from our balcony of Manuel Antonio National Park.

This house has two bedrooms with double beds and AC on one floor, plus the bathroom. On the upper floor there is a kitchen, living room, and a beautiful balcony (about 800 square feet total/75 m2). There's an oven, microwave, blender, fridge, also pots and pans, sheets, towels, pillows, hair dryer and a few books. There is a telephone for local calls; you can make international calls with a phone card. There's a full time caretaker. We don't have a TV, a pool, bathtub, or stereo. There are ceiling fans in every room, and showers with solar hot water. One is an outdoor shower with hot water for washing the sand off when you come in from the beach. We have a full length mirror, blow dryer and clothes steamer. The house is three stories, and there are fifty four steps to get to the entrance. Definitely not handicapped accessible, and not good for toddlers. The house gets the sea breeze. The electricity is U. S. standard 110 volts with US style plugs.

A wonderful place for tropical birdwatching! Up above the canopy. We see laughing falcons, parrots, parikeets, scarlet tanagers, electric blue dachnis, frigate birds, golden-headed tanagers, tropical kingbirds, pelicans and many more. There are at least 224 bird species to be seen in this area. I have a list of birds seen from the balcony that the professor of ornithology at the University of Southern California made. We tend to notice the laughing falcon just after a rain - they have a distinctive cry. Squirrel monkeys and whiteface monkeys are common, in fact I heard a tourist saying that they were 'monkeyed out.' You can often hear the howler monkeys as well. PLEASE DONT FEED THE MONKEYS. The monkeys sometimes come up near the balcony. The lizards you see everywhere are garrobos, an omnivorous cousin to iguanas. They are harmless; actually they are helpful, they eat pests. Some of them live in and around the stairs.

We're not far from the national park and several private reserves; also near a five star restaurant, casino, hospital, and the airport.

“Amazing Stay!!!”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2018

We stayed at Sarah's beachhouse for a week in February and loved everything about it. The views are breathtaking, pictures really don't do it justice.......We thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the deck just taking in the beauty of the area. The entire house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We really appreciated the kitchen area with a good sized fridge as we did a lot of our own cooking. We only used one room but the bed was comfortable and the view amazing. We didn't use the air conditioning in the bedroom too much as the house is nice and airy with the windows open and we liked to hear the wildlife at night.....however, the few times we did use the air conditioning it worked well. The grounds around the house were part of our favorite part, the caretaker (Bismark) does an amazing job. Bismark was thoroughly helpful to us our entire stay, he is a very pleasant plan and did a great job making us feel welcome. He went out of his way to show us a sloth in the tree one day and his dogs are charming! We loved our stay and hope to return.

Response from the owner Thank you!

“Breathtaking!”

The views from the balcony were absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. We couldn't wait to get back to our place each day to take in the grandiose Vista.

“Better than all words and pictures”

During our trip to Costa Rica we had a lot of good accommodations, but Sarahs House was a special highlight. Prior to our arrival I was already impressed by all these goods tipps and the exact descriptions how to find this spot. Once arrived you feel immediately good. We met the caretaker's son who helped us a lot and showed us this wonderful house. It was love at first sight. We only went to the supermarket and made a short trio to the national park. The rest of our stay we enjoyed this wonderful house. The atmoshere, the furniture, the colours, the view, the feng shui....everything is a prouve of how Sarah handles this house. A lot of love and care is in every detail of the house. We really appreciated it and we thank Sarah for everything! Please leave all in the house as it is. It is great. Thank you thank you thank you.........

“Perfect view!”

Reviewed 18 Apr 2014

Four of us stayed here in March - perfect condo for 4 people. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, lots of space upstairs in the living/kitchen area - and the best part is the balcony! Felt very safe, the housekeeper lives right next door if you need anything. The price is great for the space you get and the amazing views! That's the best part, you can see the sunrise and sunset from the balcony.

“Beyond expectations”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2014

The view is better than the pictures show, and the location is perfect. The birds that fly by the deck every morning is a great start to the day. The house is nice and has everything needed. Bismarck and Inger are very helpful. A perfect vacation.

Response from the owner Thank you for reviewing us! Much appreciated.

“Love the porch!”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at Condo Beisanz. The house felt like we were in a tree house when we were on the porch--saw lots of birds, monkeys, and our own personal sloth. The house had everything we needed. It was not fancy but practical. The bedrooms were air conditioned which was nice for sleeping. The only thing I would change would be to add a ceiling fan on the porch. It was very still in the mornings and the fan would have provided a nice breeze. The steps up to the house (63) made for a good workout. Bismark, the caretaker, and angel was very nice and very helpful.

“Amazing Experience”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

My wife and I stayed at this beach house with two of our close friends. The house was perfect. Each bedroom had independent air conditioning which offered a comfortable retreat at the end of the day. The kitchen was well equipped which allowed us to prepare our meals at home and save money. The local grocery store will deliver, although you will want to have someone who can speak a little Spanish to place the order. The view of the ocean is what really makes this place special. We could not believe what we were seeing when we walked up to the second level. It is truly breathtaking. We spent the majority of our stay on the balcony enjoying the view and fresh air. This was a great end to our month long adventure in Central america. We highly recommend this house.

Response from the owner Thank you so much and glad you had a good time!

“Best balcony in Manuel antonio”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2014

We really enjoyed our stay in Manuel antonio. The view from the balcony is amazing. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife (many different kinds of birds, a sloth) while sitting on the balcony, enjoying the ocean breeze. The balcony opens into the living area and kitchen. The bedrooms are comfortable. The owner is very organized and provides a lot of useful information both via email and at the house. The caretakers are nearby if you need anything. The location is great - out of the city, near the national park and within walking distance to beach, grocery store and lots of restaurants.

Response from the owner Thank you!

“Views & Location Beyond Expectation”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2014

We knew from the photos that the view was great but we were surprised by the stunning view from the upstairs living area. It was not only a great view but centrally located in town with many restaurants and other activities including beaches nearby. The older home is clean and was well stocked with everything you need to cook, go to the beach and live like you are at home. Although the home is small and only has one bathroom it lives bigger. The only word of caution is there are a lot of stairs from the street, and the hill to the beach an town is fairly steep so if you are not mobile and fit it might be a little difficult. with two kids we just drove to each destination so it was not a major issue. Overall Highly recommend this place if you are staying in ma, especially as a small family. Very reasonable cost for what you get.

“Amazing Place”

Since the very beginning, you're welcomed by a warm and helpful people. Once you get into the place, the sights explode in your eyes letting you breathless. A peaceful site, beatiful sorroundings. Definitely is a place to stay, a place to rest, a place to invigorate your soul, your mind and your body. There is a store near by, you could walk a bit if you like, or call for delivery. Several beaches where you could walk, or even some small and oustanding pieces of forest, where you could see birds, monkeys and some sloths giving you ideas about how to enjoy your pace while you stay
