“Charming condo on the oceanfront away from the crowds”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2016

This is a cute, third floor condo overlooking the ocean a half mile or so away from the ferry that takes you to Isla Mujeres. It has a nice sized kitchen incl stove, oven , fridge and microwave with a small adjoining room containing a washer and clothes line w/ lots of pins. Breakfast bar and comfortable living room with table makes for easy and pleasant family groups. Two roomy bedrooms, with separate bathrooms. First one has a double bed and a single (parents don't be too quick to hand that single over to the kids, it has the best mattress!) Second bedroom has two doubles. I didn't ask abut crib availability. There is no elevator, but the stairs are an easy climb. Tv w/ cable although we didn't really use it. A small bookshelf, cards, chess and some movies also on site.. As some folks have commented, this may not be the place for you, if you are seeking an all inclusive in the heart of Cancun. There is a smaller all inclusive next door, but we didn't really spend time there , Also there is some sea weed that accumulates as the tide washes in on the beach... BUT! If you are just a little bit adventuresome and willing to break out that high school Spanish, you are going to meet a lovely, warm community of local people, very eager to show with you their beautiful country. Can you tell how much I enjoyed this place?? If you want crystal clear beaches for a day or more, the ferry to Isla Mujeres is an easy collectivo (local bus and cheap) or taxi (hail from the street) ride away. Do not be afraid to bargain with the taxi drivers. An easy, twenty minute walk in the other direction will take you to El Meco, an almost deserted, but remarkably intact Mayan ruin. We took the guided tour and were not disappointed. There are some nice,, local restaurants in walking distance. I felt very safe at all times walking. In fact I found that women and children are treated with great kindness and respect everywhere we traveled. The only reason I could not give this condo a raving four stars was that we did find a few bugs (not bed bugs) and my teenagers are big wussies. I just whacked them and reminded the kids we were indeed in the tropics. Last, but not least, if you get the chance to receive a brief introduction to Mexico upon arrival by Frankie V, take advantage of it! His tips were invaluable and never led us wrong. I'd book this place again in a heartbeat. Joan O

“Great time”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2013

This condo is in a great location. You can get to the hotel district when you want to and away from it all when you do not want all the people. It was 6 pesos per person to get to the city and 8.5 pesos to go from the bus station to the hotel district. The buses out to the condo run frequently, but after 8 pm you need a taxi to get back to the condo. The taxi was only $25.00 pesos from the bus station in the city to the condo. The condo has most things that you need in the kitchen, including a corkscrew! Carlos, the manager, is super sweet and a great resource for helping to book trips, dives and fishing. The condo was clean, had a great view of the ocean out of the dining/living room window. At night with the windows open you can hear the ocean. The condo is in a gated community - but we did not have any problems in the city of Cancun either. Most things are less expensive in the city compared to the hotel district. The city was a great learning experience for my children ages 13 & 15. My only complaint, the pool was a bit chilly, but not so cold you could not get into it. This condo is a super great value.

“Local Flavor in Cancun”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2012

My fiancée and I stayed hear this summer and found it to be located one of the last bastions of local flavor left in Cancun. It was nowhere near the hotel zone with its american chain restaurants, full of american tourists. We ate local fresh delicious local food the whole time; yes, we had to order in Spanish and we had to be flexible of what we expected, particularly from eager young wait staff, but I can safely say it was a week of delectable top rate dinning at minimal cost. When we did not feel like going out we were able to cook for our selfs in a beautiful kitchen and enjoy a private pristine beach all day. When we wanted to make reservations to do the "tourist” thing we went next door to the hotel and found everything we could want; and any time we wanted to explore we just took these cute little, (I am 6'5), buses that cost .30$ USD to ride. We took them downtown to go shopping and walked back without incident; any time we were lost people were more than happy to help with directions. If you are looking for a safe Mexico vacation that is not in an all inclusive resort this may be for you. It is right across from Isla Mujardes, located in a locals neighborhood surrounded by beach, mangroves and restraints. Don't by scared by what you see on TV, tourist dollars drive everybody's interest in the Cancun area, trying to speak Spanish and being polite will take you vary far. Carlos, the man that meets you at the airport and takes you to the condo, provides excellent survice to make your stay more comfortable. He took us to the grocery store and was happy to answer any questions and was eager to help in any way that he could.
