“Our Wedding on the Mountains”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2014

The property is absolutely breathtaking! So beautiful that I opted to have my wedding here. It is quiet and private with a 360 degree view of the mountains. It rained about an hour before my outdoor wedding which was set on the back deck of the property and it only made it more beautiful. The fog raising from the mountains in the background of our ceremony was amazing. Everyone dotes on our photos and how gorgeous the venue is, we cannot wait to return next year! Linda is the owner and is amazing to work with. She responded to all my emails promptly and assisted with multiple wedding questions. Thanks to her help my DIY rustic wedding was a success.

“Exactly what we needed”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

I booked this house for my family members who could not fit into the main house (Lost River Barn) for our family reunion. This group included my 100 year old grandmother who could easily access the house through a side door from our car and could easily get to the bathroom just a door away. This was wonderful for her (and us, by default). I heard a few folks say that they were jealous of those who got to stay at the Mighty Wind... The house was clean, beautiful and had wonderful views of the surrounding area. Our group had one dog who did very well in the Dog Pound apartment right next to the house. One of the group found a problem with the upstairs toilet and I called the owners who quickly arrived on site and addressed the issue. They were friendly and courteous. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get away into the mountains without sacrificing any of the luxuries that they were used to.

“Awesome Location!!!”

Reviewed 31 Dec 2013

This is a great spot to vacation at if you are looking for a higher elevation with an amazing view. It slept 10 very comfortably -- and there was plenty of room both in the chalet and outside on the deck / fire pit area for everyone. It is located about 30 minutes from a convenience store which is close enough to handle and last minute supplies you might have forgotten or run out of. Additionally Lost River State Park is very accessible and I imagine offers some great activities in the warmer months. Linda is lightning fast with her email responses and was a pleasure to work with in both setting up the booking and staying in touch as needed throughout our stay. Thanks for a wonderful weekend and for making such a wonderful location available to us!

“The Perfect anniversary Getaway”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2013

The Mighty Wind Lodge was the perfect place to celebrate our 43 anniversary. We also brought along friends of ours who were celebrating their 36 anniversary. The last 2 days we were joined by another couple. None of us wanted to leave. Linda had everything ready for us including a bottle of wine. The views are spectacular and the home is amazing. Couldn't have asked for anything more, it had all the comforts of home. The outdoor fire pit felt so cozy on a cold evening as well as the indoor fireplace. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get and more. We definitely will be going back again. The one thing that I think would just be the icing on the cake would be a hot tub out on the lovely large deck facing the mountains. Highly recommend this for an enjoyable and relaxing getaway.

Response from the owner I am SO happy that you loved your stay and, once again, happy anniversary to both couples! Please do come back again (all seasons are glorious!) Cordially, Linda P.S. I have been pestering my husband about getting a hot tub and maybe now I have enough ammo to actually get one! Thanks for the suggestion! It is well-taken!

“The Mighty Wind Lodge is a little piece of heaven.”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2013

The place was just perfect: clean, beautiful, hospitable, comfortable. The owner, Linda, welcomed us as if we were old friends rather than first-time guests, and she was impeccable in providing all of the information we needed to have the perfect vacation. The Mighty Wind Lodge has it all: an easy (and beautiful!) drive from the Balt/DC area, star-filled skies, silence and isolation (i.e. peaceful!) amazing views of the mountains, a deck for eating and relaxing, a stone patio and huge fire-pit for cool evenings, cushy beds, jacuzzi tubs, grassy lawns. While we stayed as a party of two, this place is large enough to accommodate a very large party (13 people!) We may be back with our extended families! We felt like we were visiting a comfortable, welcoming home. For us, it was utter luxury. The kitchen was better stocked than the one I have at home, with everything imaginable. Linda's thoughtfulness in leaving beverages, condiments, coffee things, and smore-making goodies only added to our sense that we picked an amazing place. Mostly of all, the 360-degree views were breathtaking--we barely moved from the deck and patio while we were there. But if you need Tv--got that. Need to be connected and a computer? Got that too. Lost River State Park is nearby which has a lovely picnic area and pool if you are traveling with a family, and there is ample hiking and exploring to be done, but once at Mighty Wind Lodge, I doubt you will want to leave. There are plenty of gravel roads to explore in the immediate vicinity, and it is dark enough to see a vast array of stars at night. Linda's attention to details, check-in/check-out information, little notes around the house, and impeccable directions (she had us set our odometer at a specific place to find the right little mountain road!) left nothing to be wondered about. Truly, a piece of heaven. We will certainly return.
