Georgian Bay/Cawaja Beach weeHouse Modern Cottage

One of the first "weeHouses" designed by Geoffrey Warner of Alchemy Architects, this modern cottage has been featured often in the design press, including the Toronto Star in 2006.

Nestled in 70’ mature red pines, with both good daylight and privacy, this modern cottage is only about 100 yards from the beach path to a beautiful semi-private white sand swimming beach with shallow crystal-clear water. We like to cook, so there is a full kitchen with a gas range.

There is no high speed internet, but there is decent cell phone coverage.

There are large tables, a gas fireplace, huge deck with Muskoka Chairs, a screen porch, Badminton court, a rowboat, and standup paddleboard.

“Amazing place!”

The perfect location in Cawaja Beach. Quiet location, beautiful nature, minutes to the water, plenty of room and great indoor/ outdoor space.

Response from the owner Thanks for staying and for your feedback during your stay.

“Beautiful Cottage”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2013

We stayed at the weeHouse for the first time in July 2012. We enjoyed it so much that we came back again in July 2013. The weeHouse has lots of windows so it really gives you the feeling that you are camping out in the woods. There are beautiful tall pines all around. We had a fire in the fire pit each night. We ate all of our meals outside on the deck and in the screened in porch. There is a beautiful sandy beach close by (5 minute walk) where there are nice sunsets. There are lots of additional activities to do close by. There are boat rentals at Balm Beach, a jungle zoo in Elmvale and nice parks in Perkensfield and Little Lake Park in Midland.

“5 Star Modern Gem”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

This place is a 5 Star Gem and all the reviews are on. My husband and I (mid 30's) stayed twice last Summer - once with family 6pp; and the other just us - we just booked my 3rd stay for this Summer. Its a home, a sanctuary, a retreat... in the middle of tall redwood pines and a skip away from the shallow waters of the beach - you couldn't ask for more. No mosquito's either. Bring some catch up reading and your set. The place is designed perfectly for easy and efficient living with lots of room, and those who have been there know what I mean. Very cozy and modern with updated finishing. (Wish I could buy it). Note: Kitchen - Its fully stocked with Cuisinart, and top of the line accessories, glassware, etc; so don't even bring a spoon. Literally. If you like to cook and entertain like myself, this place has all the fixings. Grocery and meat farm is 5 min drive. And there is a full crate of great board/ trivia games for kids & adults. The top floor bedroom has its own bathroom, and a door to the roof - that door locks but I would put curious kids in the lower room. Wifi is spotty so just leave the macbook at home and enjoy real living. : )

“Our stay at the Cawaja WeeHouse exceeded all my expectations.”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2012

Having just returned from a weeks stay at the WeeHouse in Cawaja beach, I would certainly recommend it to anybody. The house itself has a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere perfectly in keeping with the beach vibe of the surrounding area. As a home, the WeeHouse exceeded my (high) expectations in it's ability to combine really confident modern design with comfort and user friendliness. Simply put, life in a WeeHouse is more efficient and fun! There was so much to explore in the area that we can't wait to come back again next year, from the wonderful sandy beaches and clear water to the stunning docks of Midland and Penetanguishene. Best of all, I loved the fact that our daughters aged 10 and 6 were so content. They found new friends to play with, spent hours in the water, discovered the arcade at Balm Beach and yet were just as happy curled up reading and hanging out at "home." In this location you can be as private or sociable as you wish. The house itself is very private, yet there are locals and visitors around at the beach if you prefer to branch out! I cook a lot, and found the kitchen a real pleasure to use. The light in the house is extraordinary - it glows even on cloudy days. The beds are really comfortable, and the girls loved the independence of their room across the breezeway. The indoors/outdoors feeling of the space is something I really miss now that I'm back in the city. All in all I'm sure we all returned healthier and happier for the experience. Many thanks to Geoffrey Warner for the chance to experience his work firsthand.

“fantabulous”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2012

the weeHouse was one of the best cottage experiences that we have had. the list is endless about the great things that it has to offer The cottage is beautiful,it has a very unique concept and is modern while at the same time being "homie". and it had everything that our family needed to have a good time and feel comfortable from extremely comfy beds to a fully serviced kitchen. even though we had a wheelchair, we still managed because everything was on one floor. one of the best things about the Weehouse is the location.it is located in a very serene , peaceful area, nature surrounding all around and very very friendly people.it is just a few steps to the beach. the beach is amazzziiinnggg , it almost felt like we had it to ourselves. the water is clear , clean and shallow . everything is 5 star about this cottage , no doubt that anyone who goes there will have an amazing time.:)

“A fantastic weekend in a beautiful modern cottage”

Reviewed 31 May 2012

We loved this cottage! Lots of privacy with a very peaceful setting. It is perfectly located to enjoy both the quiet one would want at a cottage and the convenience of the town nearby. The cottage was beautiful, the location was perfect and the quality was superb. We would highly recommend it - and would love to visit again! Thanks to the owners for sharing their piece of paradise.
