Beware!! the owner,we rented house from June 27 until July 5 2015.after giving him 2450.00 plus 1000.00 deposit he notified me we could not get in house until June 28th or reschedule our stay,we came on the 28th.i tried getting in touch with him on the 28th by phone,text and email I never heard back until after we left house.luckily there were no major problems. The house. Master bath had a lot of ants.front of house was a converted screen area.front bedroom. Had no air conditioning vent. In 20 years I have never seen my wife sleep without covers. Upstairs deck needed repairs and was very old,I thought I might fall thru some areas. Washer and dryer were outside,had to use pliers to turn on dryer. My brother rented bottom unit and u could not adjust the air.The dock.west end was shallow,east end deeper but leaves from trees left a lot of stains on my boat.a lot of work to keep boat clean while we were there.out door furniture was old and very dirty.we have rented houses for 20 yrs in the keys and never had a problem.he kept my 1000.00 deposit and said we destroyed the house. I have a very reputable business and dealt with about 2000 customers. This is a very special type of scumbag your dealing wth. I have now learned to always deal with a propertymanager. Beware!!!!!

Response from the owner please be aware these tenants / so-called guests are complete liars and scum bags, they left my property in utter destruction. First of all they has a 28 day lease and left after July 5 2015, they left b.c they DESTROYED MY HOME, THEY CAUSED OVER $3,000. IN DAMAGES. Our lease was for a month and they left early and skipped out leaving the house destroyed. HOME OWNERS BEWARE, THESE PEOPLE LIED OT MONROE COUNTY THAT THEY RENTED FOR A WEEK NOT BEFORE CAUSING THOUSANDS IN DAMAGES... BE WARE OF THESE PEOPLE DO NO RENT TO THEM ROBERTO MORSE FROM WEST COAST OF FLORIDA

In the beginning of our vacation, everything was going well. About 3 days into it, the toilet got clogged (not our fault) and we had to call the house keeper, so he called the plummer and he fixed the issue for $315. Keep in mind that our deposit was for $1000! About 3 months later we receive a check for $500!!! I contacted the owner Miguel and he stated that it was our fault it got clogged! therefore he had to charge me the bill, I told him that I saw the receipt and it was only said $315 not $500 so he went one saying it was for house keeping and flushing!!! lol none of that was in the contract!!! we were aware of house keeping which we paid $200 for it. So it didn't make sense, therefore I asked for the receipts of everything and I am still waiting! Please don't go there!!! you will never get you full deposit back!!!

Response from the owner In our contract it clearly states that the guest shal lbe responsbile for any damages to the house. The plumming issues were a result of over 10 tampons and feminine hygiene products flushed down the tolilette by these guests, the proif I have is that the whoel pummming system was reviewd in May 2013! a month before the guests arrive, and I did nto take 3 months to retun their deposit, it was retunred in less than 30 days as per the contract. The plummer was called and he removed all the tampons andshowed the guests what he had pulled out of the pipes and toilettes and the guest admited to him they were theirs. Before these guests arrived we had stayed in the home for over a month and there were no tampons flushed. The house keepng / cleaning is $200.00 but this does not include going to the house and fixing a problem caused by the tenants, themselves. if a guest breaks something they have to fix it or i keep the deppsit and refund the rest. I have to charge the tenants ( from their deposit) what I am charged for their own damages. The tenants has the reciepts from the plummer and can call Joe our maint. man who had to come out to assist the renters. He is not our "employee"n not on my payroll and Villa Marquesa is a personal residence and not a Hotel, therefore Joe charges every time he needs to come out to fix something casued by Tenant damages. If there is soemthing boroken in the home, I take responsability, fix it and have even credited guests for any inconvince when it is caused by me, the home, or anything not in the guest control. I have never had to with hold deposits from tenents, and this is the first time. Everyone esle who has stayed in the home raves about its bueaty, its location and every year we have the same repeat guests and they are already treated as family and have begun to refer Villa marquesa as their second home.
