“Great location with wonderful host family.”

Reviewed 15 Jan 2017

Right near 24th Mission BART and the MUNI line on Van Ness - super easy to access everything. Great host family with nice kids and a couple dogs. Dogs do bark from time to time during the day, but nothing unusual or disruptive - after all, dogs bark. Very helpful with information about where to eat and visit in the city. Space itself is very comfortable for 1-2 travelers.

“Wonderful apartment in the heart of San Francisco”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2015

I loved my stay at this apartment. It’s bright, roomy, very well maintained and has excellent facilities. It’s very close to the Bart, meaning you can get downtown in under ten minutes, but is also secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of the Mission. The best of both worlds! Erica is a lovely owner and helped with any questions I had. I would whole-heartedly recommend this apartment for a stay of any length. The best recommendation I can give is that would come back without hesitation. It was like a home from home.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for this lovely review. I am always so happy when visitors are happy. It is just great to know that people are enjoying the space and the area and having fun in San Francisco. Looking forward to seeing you again one day!

“Great home base for monther-son San Francisco Exploration”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2014

My 12-year-old son and I made a trip to San Francisco for me to show him where his mom lived, worked and played during her 20s. The Mission apartment was extraordinarily bright, spacious and comfortable for two people (could certainly see a slightly larger family being just as comfortable) with a full kitchen - though who would cook given all the great culinary options in the Mission neighborhood and beyond! The location couldn't be beat as it is so close to the 24th and Mission transportation hub with direct service to almost anywhere in town as well as SFO and Oakland airports. Finally, our host went above and beyond to make sure that we were completely squared away and had our bearings. Her personable family orientation put as completely at ease. This is my first time using a service to rent an apartment as opposed to take a hotel room on vacation and I couldn't recommend the experience more strongly as a great travel value.

“Father Daughter trip - excellent accommodations”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2014

From the beginning, the owners was very communicative, and exceeded my expectations. They made themselves available, if we needed them. Case in-point, I sent a text asking a question about a place to grab lunch, I couldn't remember the name. They text me back, and a few minutes later, my daughter and I found the restaurant. Given the full kitchen with pretty much all you would need to cook three meals a day, I attempted to cook breakfast and dinner every morning and night. The owners gave us full access to their herb garden, and yes we took full advantage of it. With the abundance of great restaurants, it sometimes became a challenge. My 4 of 5 rating is only because, little feet would pitter patter, before I was actually ready to move around. Have I recommended the place to my friends? Yes! The next time I'm in SF will I stay there again? Yes! The Mission is a really cool place to stay, if you're going to flipkey a place in SF, and want to stay where you can find the citie's pulse.

“Excellent - Hidden gem - Charming garden apt in The Mission w/o”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2013

My wife and I stayed at Erica's granny flat during October 2013 while attending a conference at the Moscone Center. Erica was a wonderful host. On arrival, we were met by a generous and thoughtful care package - fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, chocolate and wine. She gave us a list of recommended restaurants nearby, and even sent us a text when she found a lively market nearby that she thought we would enjoy. She accommodated a very late checkout with no fuss. The unit itself is very sweet and sunny. There was a living room with a kitchen with all basic necessities, a beautiful new bathroom, and a bedroom. The living room was comfortable, but we never used it, as we did not spend much time lounging in the flat. It has a bright, sunny window into the garden. The bed was comfortable, and the linen clean and new (and towels extra fluffy!). The location, in my opinion, was fantastic. It was great to stay in a residential area with so much character and get a real feel for SF. The Mission is full of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and ++interesting characters. It was really a breath of fresh air after the nice-enough but sterile atmosphere of the CBD near the Moscone Center where my colleagues stayed. It was a 4 minute walk to the nearest Bart station, which connected to the Moscone Center and elsewhere within 15 minutes. Also very convenient to come via the Bart from the airport ($8 or so each), and I'd recommend this over a taxi, which will cost around $50. Areas for improvement are 1) there were many dessicated beetles in living room/kitchen on our arrival, and we probably removed about 20. Otherwise very clean, and it was not a big deal. 2) Though we had +++ privacy, if sleeping in is important to you, this might be a drawback because the mornings were a bit loud as the small kids in the house get up. All in all, we had a wonderful stay. This unit is amazing value, and I whole-heartedly recommend staying here on your visit to SF.

Response from the owner We are so happy that you guys enjoyed being here and were comfortable! I love sharing "tips" about SF and feel great that we are able to help visitors experience things here that they otherwise might not. Concerning the areas of improvement: I am so sorry about the rolli poli bugs! We have so many of these in our garden and when Gramma visits, as she had before your stay, she and our son explore and play with them. All I can think is that they made their way in for a visit when Gramma was here and that our cleaning crew overlooked them somehow. Cleanliness and ease are important to us so, I have spoken to the crew and made sure that future guests will not have to bother with this inconvenience. SO sorry for that! We had posted a notice that we have little kids but, we discovered that due to character limits, the second half of the post was not "published". We are working on correcting that and are glad that you weren't inconvenienced by our kids in the morning. We respect that others may be if they want to sleep late and/or are very sensitive to noise. So, we learned this oversight from you and are grateful that you pointed it out! For folks reading this review, we have sound proofed but the home was built in 1872 and so is not iron clad for noise. Our kids are active from about 7 to 8:30am when they go to school and on their adventures. Otherwise, our space is incredibly quiet and serene, especially for being in the middle of a bustling city.
