“Moonshine Cabin”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2017

We stayed at Moonshine Cabin last week. I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The pictures from the booking do not do this place justice. The first thing we did was go out on the deck to see the view of the mountains. Simply breathtaking! The cabin itself was immaculate and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We made use of the hot tub in the evenings after it cooled off a bit. You can literally see every star in the sky on a clear night! Cannot wait to book this beautiful place again!

“Absolutely wonderful”

Reviewed 2 Dec 2016

My husband and I rented Moonshine Cabin for our 1 yr anniversary and I am so glad we did. The cabin was beautiful and the views from the deck were second to none. The location was perfect and the road to the cabin was breathtaking with all the fall colors. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer however we will certainly be back for a longer stay!

“Great views/Great stay - secluded but located between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg!”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2014

Great location....who would think there is such a private place just up the hill from the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge. We were lucky to still have such beautiful fall colors and a little light snow! Hot tub was amazing. Relax under the stars! The driveway is bit of a haul and we scrapped a little going up and down but you quickly learn to stay to the side of the driveway. The cabin is a little dated with shag carpet and older looking bathrooms....but didn't matter to us. We weren't there for the inside...we were there for the outside and the proximity to everything fun about this area. We will return...already thinking of when to go back!! Highly recommend for couples or friends getting away for the weekend.

“Safety is first”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2014

The owner is very nice and supportive, and the cabin is clean, the view is outstanding. But all of that does not compensate for safety. The deck has an easy access for intruders (such as bears) and you can see that on some of the visitors' pictures. The owner told me that a couple of weeks ago another group of people got the bear twice at the cabin because they were grilling. We were watching our backs every time we go out to the deck. The owner could have put some fence to prevent bears from getting to the deck. That could have change my review 180 degree. What is more the road damaged the bottom of my car pumper. No matter how slow I drove down. the front pumper will hit the road. I have a Honda Odyssey van. I don't know if that will be the case for other cars. But be carful when you drive down from the house. Again very nice owner and good place, just safety has not been considered

Response from the owner Thanks for staying with us. We appreciate your comments about safety. We wouldnt want to be foolish and give anyone a false sense of security by fencing in our property or putting gates on a deck. We do feel it neccessary to remind our guests that bears are more active this time of year.

“Great Escape”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2014

The owner Ken provides a seamless process for making reservations and is very prompt with all responses. The cabin is clean, well appointed, and all the essentials such as towels, cooking supplies, and even coffee and popcorn. The view is the best of any rental cabin in the area. You will not be disappointed. If you are looking to escape the rat race and be completely secluded, this is the place. A few miles in either direction will take you to either Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg if you want to venture out to the 100"s of attractions. We will be back!

“Location, Location, Location!!”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2014

By far, the very best part of the cabin is the location - breath taking views - a sky filled with stars at night, the mountains in the distance, complete privacy. Who doesn't like that in a vacation rental. The cabin itself is basic - lots of room, billiard table, darts, hot tub on the deck - lots to keep you occupied when you're there. The fully equipped kitchen was great. We cooked a few times and had great meals without paying the restaurant prices. Laundry facilities are on site which makes travelling light very easy - just do your own laundry. Two fairly large flat screen TVs. There is a working fireplace for those cool romantic evenings. The place is also equipped with central heat/air conditioning. Our only complaint would be that the cabin needs a thorough cleaning. The folks who clean between renters do a great job on the essentials - kitchen and the bathrooms. They don't appear to dust which can be a problem for those with allergies or asthma. The owner is very accommodating. We made a mistake with our booking and listed the exit date as a day earlier than we had intended. Fortunately, the cabin wasn't rented for the extra day and he made the adjustment without any question. The cost of having a fabulous, top of mountain view is the road to it. The first drive up is unnerving if you've never done such a drive before. Once up and once down, you'll be a pro and have no difficulties. We highly recommend this rental.

“Amazing Getaway”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

I traveled here with my husband and another couple and we have zero complaints. It was up in the mountains and felt secluded. However, once we got down the mountain (about a 5-10 minute drive), Pigeon Forge is right there. It was also very easy to get to Gatlinburg because the road up the mountain is off a scenic highway that goes through both towns. We had an amazing view and had no trouble getting into the rental thanks to Ken's emails and the "Glad to have you!" app he provides with any information you might want. As a warning: the driveway is steep right before you get to the cabin! It's a little nerve racking the first time you go up, but we got used to it. The only issue was our Suv's hitch would hit part of the driveway going up, but it sits lower to the ground than the rest of the SUV. I wouldn't suggest using a small car to make it up unless you're more confident. Overall, we were really impressed and I hope we'll be able to return sometime!

“So Relaxing”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2014

We just came back from our trip to Pigeon Forge and we hated to leave. Our cabin was extremely clean and the owner Ken is on top of things and a very delightful person to deal with. Not to mention our view was amazing!! The kitchen was fully furnished with everything you could possibly need. Oh and Don't let the reviews scare you...the driveway is not that bad at all. It is a bit steep but it's paved all the way to the top!! We will definitely be staying at this cabin again and telling all of our friends about it as well!!

“Perfect hideaway”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2014

We spent a week here for our anniversary. It was 4 nights before we left the cabin. It has everything needed to hide away or run all day and retreat at night. We're looking forward to spending our next anniversary in the same place

“Great Stay again!”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2014

This was me and my wife's second time staying. It was as great as the first time. We even got snow on our last night! This place is very secluded with beautiful mountain views. I've stayed in a lot of cabins and this is by far my favorite and honestly the only one I will ever rent in Gatlinburg for as long as it exist. My only suggestion is make sure the firewood is dry, bring some some extra fire starter if you are going to stay more than a few days, or you will need to gather kinlin to get the fire going.
