“Nice and clean place to stay close to beaches with stunning view”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2016

I reserved only four stars for this rental because nothing is perfect and for the price you should be ready to tolerate a squeaky futon in a second BR/sitting room and a bit noisy AC, though quite efficient, even with one of the AC remotes not working, the second remote did the job fine for both ACs . On a plus side, the main bedroom king bed is excellent and linens and comforter are impeccable. The setting is in the modern concrete house, ground floor, with a much appreciated shady veranda/wind tunnel to sit in a hot day and enjoy the potent breeze/draft. There is a hose right on veranda to wash off the sand after visiting the beach - very convenient and nice feature. The breeze can be enjoyed from the main balcony which, did I mention it?, offers a nothing short of stunning Caribbean view. I could sit there for hours, sipping Presidente (Dominican beer, highly recommend!) and catching changes in lighting to take beautiful pictures of the sea and islands on the horizon. The kitchen has everything you may need for cooking in. Refrigerator is potent and produces ice quickly. You may wish to buy bottled water from Walmart, Econo or Ralph's groceries to make ice and or coffee and cooking since the tap water is well chlorinated for safety (It rains almost every day or several times a day this season but rains pass quickly and it is another interesting thing to observe from the balcony or veranda - how quickly rain moves through the sea: it is amazing picture!). Restaurants are overage. We preferred seafood and also purchased fresh or freshly frozen catch of the day from the nearby seafood market (clean and well equipped modern structure in the harbor (5 min walk) to bake at home. A Red Snapper is a must to try. The main beach is Seven Seas Beach, well organized and maintained, The water is crystal clear especially in the morning with very few beach-goers around. They start arriving around 9-10, when we were already leaving the beach: the sun is not very healthy after 10 anyway. Our best beach time was 7-10 am and 5-6:30 pm. Quite enough for comfortable swimming and beach-combing and keeping our skin safe from sunburn. There are two main recommended walks while on the beach, one to the coral reef to the right - nice fish watching with snorkel and mask there, and another to the left through the path in the wood (a lot of deet!!!) to the stunningly gorgeous Escondido beach (20 min walk well worth it!) with pristine sand and water for you only, with first visitor showing up after 9 am. Make you choices. Along Escondido beach you can walk all the way to Luquillo - another town on the beach several miles away. The walk is worth is, the beauty of water and beach will stay with you forever, trust me! Almost a requirement: to find a safe and close parking by the beach come early - 7 am or so. Car rental is a must. For Saturday or Sunday better plan a car trip to San Juan - another Caribbean jewel to enjoy! Again start early! Sun is no joke there. Drink a lot of water! Driving to the Rain Forest is a 50:50 idea, the forest and scenery are stunningly beautiful! But driving on a narrow, twisted mountain road is quite dangerous especially with local shumahers driving on the center lane most of the time... And the final thing, to add a hint of enigma to adventurers and explorers, there is a mysterious structure in the woods on the way to the Escondido beach, 200 yards from the end of the path to the right. You can't miss it: 6-7 feet wide old metal pot thrown off the brick and mortar pedestal. If it were in Normandy, I would think about an armored weapon place of WWII, but here in PR? My landlord suggested that it was an old cattle drinker... Cattle drinker in the middle of nowhere? So, it remains a mystery and one more attraction to visit in Fajardo area. The hosts are awesome, friendly and really nice people. The managers of the property, Leslaw and Gama, are helpful and answer all you requests just in time. But the owners, Judy and Andrea will go an extra mile to make you happy. We asked for a stainless steel strainer to prepare Guanabana juice. Judy drove to the Walmart and brought it to us in half an hour. I was even ashamed of asking... They are so nice people! Bottom line: Place is very good and safe. Owners are pleasure to interact (don't make it too often, they have their own life!) Beaches are pleasant and if you don't mind walking in the woods - simply the best! Oh! BTW. Roosters... But this is another story...:)))
