“Paradise found...”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2015

On a trip to Bali in January, I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Sanggah. Paradise is the only word to describe this place. The grounds are stunningly beautiful, both during the day, and at night. The entire place is a botanical garden, with paths meandering between each unique villa. Villa Sanggah is the perfect location to experience Bali. The villa itself is a tranquil place that will bring peace to your soul, but you don't sacrifice access to the city. There are some amazing eateries within easy walking distance, and that famous Bali nightlife just a short motorbike or taxi ride away. The owner and her staff were the most accommodating of any place I have ever stayed. We had breakfast made for us every morning, rooms cleaned, and they even arranged motorbikes to be dropped off for us. The owner even took time to point us in the direction of some amazing restaurants, and gave us some insights into the Balinese culture. I had originally planned to only stay just one or two nights, but ended up staying for 4 nights, because I just couldn't imagine finding a better place to stay.

Response from the owner Thank you so much for such a beautiful review. It was really wonderfully enjoyable to have you both here on your first trip to Bali, I know your trip did some wonderful things for your life and we are so happy that we were a part of that. Namaste....

“heaven in bali”

This place is perfect. Beautifully decorated and maintained (bali style) in a quiet location. Away from hustle and bustle of Seminyak. One of my favourite memories was sleeping on my back in the pool and banging my head against the side. I opened my eyes to see Su Su her beautiful dog looking at me closely with a look of "Are you OK'. Best kept dogs in Bali. Organises take away delivered(beautiful) and 2 hour GREAT massages at open balinese area for $20. I have been to Bali many times over last 40 years and this place is the best for a relaxing escape.Beautiful furnishings - everything is thought of. I will return with girlfriends.Don't hesitate - you will not regret it!

“Beautiful and comfy!”

What a lovely ,magical place to stay ,away from the busy street noise and crowds. With a pool in front of the breakfast table I enjoyed my am coffee and enjoyed chatting with Georgeanne , the beautiful owner, watching the cute antics of her two adoreable dogs, as I decided which fab resturant I would visit that nite. The resturant Sardine was my favorite ,what a lovely veiw of the rice fields, great food and ambiance! My room was really fantastic ,very comfy ,spacious ,and very pretty..even had a tv,,which I hadn't looked at for two months of my trip thru Bali ,,,so it was fun to catch the latest news late at nite. The bathroom has an outdoor look and nature feel,I loved the shower and decor too! I spent my last four nites of my entire trip there as it's not far from the airport, and it was a great finale . I hope to return next year ,and I would certainly book villa Sanggah next time as well.en joy!!! Light, Heidi

“A home away from home”

We stayed at Villa Sanggah for a week with our baby and had a fantastic time. The location is quiet, the gardens a real oasis, the bungalows tastefully decorated, the common kitchen a real bonus for cooking baby food. Georgeanne is a fantastic host, full of local knowledge and great advice. We also loved eating in with the great cooking on offer and the efficient delivery service. All in all a 5 star experience. Thanks for having us!

“Luxury villa estate - walk to Batu Belig Seminyak beach”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2014

I was very lucky to have been referred to Villa Sanggah by a friend who had stayed there with her family for 2 weeks. When I told her that I was looking for a quiet, yet inspiring place to complete my writing project, she told me to contact the owner that day - and I did! For 4 nights I stayed in the one-bedroom bungalow and loved every minute of it. Each piece of furniture is unique and has been collected from all over the world as the owners are very well traveled. The outdoor garden shower is exactly what you imagine when dreaming about a holiday in Bali. A resident of Bali for over 30 years, the american owner has appointed the guest kitchen with beautiful ceramics and all of the accessories you need to feel completely taken care of. Her staff is on hand throughout the day to prepare your breakfast and to turn down the room every afternoon. I felt completely safe and secure at Villa Sanggah at all times. Situated within a lushly landscaped tropical garden, the owner and her staff take meticulous care of the grounds and swimming pool. Each nook and cranny offer something exotic and interesting to behold. Bali is a Mecca for self nurturing, so don't hesitate to book a massage in one of the outdoor pavilions or within your air-conditioned suite. Perfect for newbies that have never been to Bali before as well as longtime visitors who are longing for the 'good old days', the owner's attention to detail combined with the most convenient location right in between Seminyak and Canggu make for the perfect short-term or long-term getaway. Note: Watercress restaurant is a must for lunch or dinner - just a five minute walk from the villa.

“Sanctuary and Serenity...what a beautiful place!”

Reviewed 2 Mar 2014

Our family had 3 wonderful weeks at Villa Sanggah in Dec/Jan 2014 and our expectations were exceeded even though we had read the wonderful reviews of previous guests. Wonderful authentic Balinese style, magnificent gardens, refreshing pool, fabulous and attentive staff, the very gracious and genuine Georgeanne. Villa Sanggah is close enough to the action but separate so you can truly relax. Nearby is the organic Watercress café, Naughty Nori ribs restaurant and the incredible Desi Sani yoga retreat which welcomes visitors. Canggu deli and restaurants are a short cab ride away and the home delivery system in Bali is awesome when you want to stay in! We loved our time with G at Villa Sanggah and would not hesitate to return.

“Peaceful paradise set amongst beautiful gardens but only a 5mim”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2014

I stayed with Georgeanne at Sanggah Villas for 8 nights over the Xmas period. I stayed in the guest room in the main house which was beautiful. The room is decorated in amazing Balinese artwork, antique rugs and traditional carvings - this is truly a special space for those that love tranquility and design. On entering the property you walk through lush gargens with the sound of water running over water features into cooling ponds. Each of the separate bungalows are privately set back off the main path. There is no street noise here which is fantastic after a day out on the streets shopping. The pool area is adjacent to the main house and is well laid out with comfortable sun lounges and cushions. Breakfast was served each morning by well trained staff in a lovely dining bale. What was good for me is that it's 5 mins walk to the beach and other restaurants on Batu Belig such as Watercrest which serves awesome vegetarian food and great coffee an for meat lovers Naughty Nuri's which is renown for its ribs. I also do yoga and one of the best retreats Desa Seni is only 10mins away. It was only 5-10mins away in a taxi to the restaurants on Petitenget like Sardine, Métis, Sarong and Potato Head. I would highly recommend staying here - I loved it.

“Total Paradise!”

Reviewed 20 Dec 2013

This is what Bali was! Villa Sanggah is tucked away from all the hustle + bustle and yet is only 10 minutes stroll from the sea and a short drive from great restaurants. The villa/bungalow we stayed in was very comfortable, clean and huge - we were 4! I particularly love the outdoor shower (there are 2 bathrooms in the bungalow). There are only 3 bungalows on this huge piece of land and one of them is occupied by the most gracious lady/owner who even took time out to take us shopping one afternoon!! The staff is really friendly and we could order whatever food we wanted for either lunch or dinner if we didn't feel like going out! It was more a home away from home! Beautiful towels, etc. I highly recommend it to people looking for privacy and serene surroundings!

“Private paradise”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2013

After a long flight to Bali and experiencing the initial culture shock that comes with finding oneself in another country, my wife and I knew as soon as we arrived at Villa Sanggah that it would be the perfect sanctuary for our trip. After passing through the front gates we left the busy streets behind and found ourselves in a very private paradise. The entrance lead us down a winding path, with beautiful gardens and traditional buildings on either side, past the pristine swimming pool and kitchen to where our host Georgeanne and the villa staff welcomed us warmly. The villa provided a great location to set out exploring Bali, such as long walks along the beach (a short walk from Villa Sanggah) or to surrounding towns and cities with a personal driver for the day. It was just as easy to spend the days lounging by the pool, reading in the gardens, watching movies in bed and having professional massages in amongst the luscious plants in the garden. There is affordable food in the nearby streets, both Western and traditional Balinese foods, as well as the onsite communal kitchen. Another tempting option is to order food to be delivered to the villa, and eat outdoors. A real treat is to let the staff members cook you dinner! The villa is very private. We could hardly tell that that there were any neighbours at all, as the dense plants blocked out any noise or views. It also feels very safe, especially with night security But certainly, the real beauty of Villa Sanggah is the staff! Our host Georganne was extremely helpful and accommodating even before we arrived, giving us many useful tips via email. During our stay she treated us not as guests at her establishment, but as great friends or family who were returning to her home. She and the other staff saw to our every need and made us feel very much at home, pampering us and sharing stories, whilst also giving us space to rest and relax. All in all, a wonderful stay, we won't be going anywhere else!
