“Love, love, love this place!”
We had such a wonderful time in Maureen and Alan's cottage. First and foremost, it's on Arshamomaque Pond, which looks like a lake but is actually an inlet of Peconic Bay. It's the perfect place for swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding, and, if you're feeling adventurous, you can paddle out through the end of the pond into the bay. From the cottage and spacious lawn, you look across at the completely unspoiled nature preserve, which makes you feel as though you're in a peaceful, remote area, even though you're steps away from the private beach on Long Island Sound and from all the fun nearby Greenport has to offer. Secondly, the cottage itself is fabulous -- open layout with tons of light from all the windows, great porch with canopy outside the screen door, remodeled bathroom, well-appointed kitchen, fireplace for chilly evenings and AC for the hot ones. Very comfortable and spacious-feeling. Maureen and Alan are great hosts -- we had everything we needed for a wonderful time in a most wonderful spot.
“Beautiful setting and great location”
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful home in the fall when we made a trip to the North Fork to bike and visit wineries and farm stands. The location was perfect-- on a quiet, charming street in Southhold, and the home was bright and full of character. We had everything we needed for a truly relaxing weekend. We enjoyed our wine and coffee by the water and loved shopping for our dinner from the local fish stores and farm stands. The owners were friendly and responsive but respected our privacy. We brought our bikes and enjoyed biking to wineries and all around Shelter Island. Highly recommend!!
The house, the view, the location are pure perfection! We stayed here this summer and it was exactly what we were looking for: a peaceful, beautiful setting with the option to either relax on the property or venture out and explore. The area offers so many great activities for both adults and children: wineries, concerts, farmstands, shopping, dining, beaches, the list goes on and on. Truly relaxing and renewing. The sunsets on the private beach (just down the block) are the best! Alan, our host, even took us out for ride in his boat, and the pedal boat was there for us to enjoy as we wished. The hosts were there if we needed them for directions and recommendations and they couldn't be nicer, but also let us have the privacy we wanted. Loved this vacation and will be back.
We had a wonderful stay at this amazing waterfront house. It had everything we needed! It was great waking up and having breakfast outside while looking at the amazing views! Close to beaches and much more! We look forward to returning next summer!
I spent 3 nights and 4 days at this sweet, easy house with gorgeous views of a beautiful body of water. Peaceful! All you hear are birds chirping, boats going by and dogs barking. I recommend this easy getaway to all that need some time to relax. This is definitley the place!
“Wonderful and comfortable home in a beautiful setting with spect”
This is the place to come for a relaxing and fun-filled vacation in a home away from home. The home has everything you will need and is beautifully appointed. The yard is large and leads down to the lake. You don't have to leave the property to have a great vacation. I highly recommend this property.
“Cozy sunny spot”
Great spot for a weekend away. Waking up to the sun filled house on the water was very good for the soul.
“the property is charming and the hosts delightful and helpful”
The propsety offers seclusion from the hustle and bustle, but all the delights of the North Fork are right there for the enjoying. The farm stands, wineries and eateries and lovely beaches and boating and golf... friendly towns and relaxed people! The sunsets and night sky are a gorgeous back drop to a comforable, well equipped cottage whose owners are commited to esnuring you enjoy your stay.Extra folk who show up can be sepaarately housed! Loved everything but going home.
