“Great cottage, private setting, excellent value.”
We found the cottage to be very comfortable and spacious. The master bedroom and bath offered privacy. We had guests and there was more than enough room for all. It has a nice private wooded setting with a wrap around porch and sun room. The kitchen and laundry were fully equipped. The location was great with easy access to spectacular hiking and to quaint villages with nice restaurants. The owner was very easy to deal with and provided a lot of helpful recommendations. We plan to return in the near future.
“Excellent quiet get away, near a beautiful park!”
My boyfriend and I stayed here in early October as a get away from our busy lives as medical residents, and we couldnt have been happier with our choice! Julie is an excellent owner, she sent us intricate directions, made us feel very welcome, gave many recommendations for restaurants and hikes, and was available to help out in any way (when we arrived we had some difficulty entering the house, but we called Julie and someone came over immediately and let us in, no problem). The house is spacious and comfortable, with a back porch for grilling, a fully stocked kitchen, and comfy beds and chairs. We really felt at home. And of course, Acadia is beautiful! There were lots of guide books in the cottage for our perusal, as well as recommendations from Julie. We got to see more of the West side of the island by staying here, and it was still relatively easy to access the main park (~ 30 min drive to some parts of the island). Overall, it was nice to stay somewhere more out of the way for a very fun and relaxing getaway!
“Great Place to Stay!”
We loved our stay in Tranquility Cottage. It was so clean and comfortable. Felt like I was "going to Grandma's". The cottage was well stocked, so we had everything we needed. Loved the large rooms, all the little decorations, unique pieces of furniture, and the sun porch. We were impressed to find maps and other info about the area ready for us to read. That certainly helped us since we had never visited Maine before. We would definitely recommend this cottage to our friends!!
When you stay on Mt. Desert Island and visit acadia National Park, Tranquility Cottage is the perfect place to stay and feel like a local, not just a tourist. It is tucked away on the quiet side of the island, but still close to many amenities (such as Thurston's Lobster Pound) and plenty of things to do. The cottage is spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and full of extras to make it seem like you're in your own Maine bungalow-definitely a home away from home. My husband and I have been to Maine five times in the past 13 years. We found Tranquility Cottage on a third trip and that's where we always stay now. We love it! We've brought friends over the years who love it as well. We've strolled down the street to Thurston's, barbecued out back, bought blueberries from the Dentist down the way to make blueberry crumble, and made picnic lunches in the kitchen to take out on our excursions. After a day in the park of hiking, biking, or whatever you choose to do, it's wonderful to come back home, relax, cook dinner with friends, eat out on the screen porch, and then play some board games around the table. At the end of a trip, I'm usually a little homesick, eager to get back home, but not in this case. This is the one place I feel homesick for when I'm actually at home.
“Tranquility cottage truly makes our vacation memorable!”
My family and I have been staying at Tranquility Cottage every summer for the last nine years. We love the special touches that make Tranquility Cottage comfortable and homey while we are in Maine. The owners make extra efforts to welcome their guests with a special gift and welcome message for both parents and children, and special requests are honored whenever possible to ensure that our stay is comfortable with our growing family. In addition, the owners provide a complete guide of things to do on Mount Desert Island and ensure that the guide is up-to-date with the newest restaurants and special attractions. We never have anything but a wonderful experience at Tranquility Cottage.
“Clean, quiet, and homelike.”
We stayed here for a week in 2010 and couldn't wait to return. We're going back in august 2012. This secluded cottage is clean, well equipped, quiet, and extraordinarily comfortable. The owners have thought of everything. It has great social spaces and quiet nooks for reading or napping. We were fortunate to have wonderful weather, but we could have easily enjoyed a rainy day at the cottage. We especially enjoyed meals on the screened porch. It is a short walk to the harbor and Thurston's Lobster Pound. We love acadia NP and hope to return to Tranquility Cottage many times.
“Tranquility Cottage Lives up to its Name!”
I am happy to report on my recent vacation at the aptly named Tranquility Cottage. We unexpectedly had a week off last September, and thought we'd do something adventurous like rent a cottage in Maine. Although there were clear pictures online, they really can't show how spacious, immaculate and charming the place actually is, with all the comforts of home thoughtfully provided such as extra quilts, books, games, and kitchen supplies. Everyone had space to spread out, and it was even warm enough to eat on the delightful screened-in porch on the side of the house. The homemade guidebook enhanced the experience of exploring such a beautiful island, and we appreciated and utilized many of the suggestions for restaurants, sightseeing and shopping, which kept us very busy. Everyone agreed it was a terrific vacation and we will definitely visit again.
“We loved staying here.”
This house is a wonderful place to stay. It's very cozy, clean, comfortable, and convenient, with everything we needed no matter what the weather. You can prepare meals there, or go to any of the varied restaurants on the Island. There is a great collection of information on Island activities, etc. There's even a collection of family games, and books to fill in the down time! My favorite part of the house is the sun porch - great for a quiet breakfast, an afternoon rest, or evening cocktails.
