“Beautiful Villa - Busy Road”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2015

After driving 2.5 hours from Nusa Dua and arriving to encounter a mis-communication with our booking (my fault), the staff (mainly "Ketut" who deserves a pay raise!) were very lovely, helpful and welcoming. The Villa is very well presented and ultra modern with great furnishings, mod-cons and exactly like the pictures (although it was clear the floor had not been mopped as I noticed some spills marks from a drink? on the tiles). Also, I am not sure if it was this time of year, but the mosquitos were a real issue. We had just come from staying 1 week in Nusa Dua & they were only a small issue there. These issues aside, the Villa itself & pool area are beautiful and the staff (Ketut & lady ?) are your usual happy, warm Bali people. The breakfast every day was lovely and so much food to eat! Although we had to pay an extra $40USD per night for our small children and they only ate cereal (which I bought from Australia) ... and they ended up sleeping on the couch as the room upstairs had a lot of nocturnal visitors (spiders, geckos and millions of mosquitos). Unfortunately our major concern was the location of the Villa. As mentioned in previous reviews, this villa is on a very noisy, busy road. I could manage to "zone out" the noise, but the reality is, this road is so very narrow, so busy and there are NO footpaths or refuge to get out of the way of traffic, so you are literally sharing the road with the crazies! It would be suicidal to walk to any of the nearby (500m) shops, ATMs & restaurants. Therefore we relied on the driver (8-4pm) to take us out during the day (which was great and very handy) .... but at night time, getting a taxi to a restaurant for dinner was difficult, as they always drove past full. We stood outside the villa for 15 minutes one night (which is not good when its hot and you have 2 hungry children!). Luckily the security guys next door at La Finca were very helpful, often organising a lift or a taxi for us. In addition, Taxi drivers were refusing to use their meters and charging us between 100,000 and 50,000rp +++ to drive 500m to the nearest Restaurant strip! Then to make matters worse, on the way back after dinner, not one taxi driver knew where Villa Lisha was, so we had to show them a map which I had downloaded from Google Maps on my iPhone. We ended up telling them to take us to La Finca restaurant, which some of them knew of. On the plus side, the Villa is close to the beach (if you like black sand and rubbish), and close to the new Water Splash Park, Ten Pin Bowling and Trampoline Centre. La Finca is a GREAT restaurant next door with reasonably priced Spanish Food & Tapas. The Sangria is THE BEST! And the bar guys are awesome & so friendly! So in summation, the Villa is beautifully presented with lovely staff. If you can get past its location and accessibility issues, then it really is a little piece of heaven.

Staying in this Villa was fantastic, we were met at the airport by the driver named Made. I can not express how good he was through out the time spent here, he waould ask daily what our plans were and was always on time. Made's service was A+++++. The Villa itself was extremely comfortable, everything you had to escape the hussle and bussle of the busy streets. Everything was provided, the cooked breakfast every morning was fresh and delicious, a folder of DVD's was avaliable for those times you just wanted to sit back and relax. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you will get, down to the exact ornaments in the same positions. I think the only negative would be for me was I felt a little secluded from all the action, its quite a walk into the heart of Seminyak and dare I say it a little frightening as the roads are quite tight with not a lot of foot paths, but on saying that after a couple of days I was walking like a local, and to be quite honest there is a driver avalible. The other thing was I did get quite a lot of insect bites, could never find the insects that bite me, but being in a tropical climate its to be expected. so take some good insect repellant. Sprays are also provided for indoors which I used as I left the villa and just before bed. The pool area is very peaceful, it does only get a good amount of sun till about 1pm, which is good for sun baking if you wish. Apart from that, it is a wonderful place to stay, there is a restuarant next door called La Finca, very nice for your arrival if you dont know where to go, its a 20 min walk to Mosaic Club, and a further 15mins to Potato Head Beach Club, There are plenty of mini marts for small goods, milk etc and thats where I found money exchangers. All in all, very very very good!!! Thank you
