“Beautiful cabin - beautiful setting”

Reviewed 11 Feb 2015

We stayed for a rainy long weekend in February and enjoyed the cabin and surroundings a lot. The view out over oyster bay is lovely as the tide comes in and out. The ducks were fun to watch and even after sunset we could hear them when we were out on the covered deck. The wood stove kept the cabin so warm that we didn't need the electric heating.

“Architecturally integrated into woodland, garden and tidal lagoon”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2014

We stayed in the cabin as a milestone Birthday treat. The website story of the design, construction and devotion to detail was exceeded only by the experience of enjoying the luxurious tranquillity and transforming vista of the foreshore at high and low tide. The palpable transition from cabin to patio and rocky gardens,to primal woods and tidal flats,is brilliantly executed in this unique geographical location. We could not have been more comfortable, from the soaker tub outlook at treetop height, full family kitchen, craftsman executed yellow cedar interior and much more.

“Better than I expected”

I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful both the cabin and the surroundings were. It was perfectly tranquil and comfortable. Beautiful views inside and out. The decor was impressive as well as the quality of the cabin. I was hoping for artistic inspiration during my stay and was treated to a better experience than I had imagined Great hosts, no hastle or disruption, couldn't ask for more.

We spent two nights in the cabin and found it to be comfortable, roomy, quiet and just lovely. The bay in front of the cabin is not for swimming but the views are magnificent.

Response from the owner Thank you for your great review! Although not a traditional swimming beach, Oyster Bay offers incredibly warm swimming in the summer as the tidal waters heat up as they flow back over the sand & mud of the bay. Watch out for the cold fresh water flowing in from Anderson and Meadow Creeks! In parts of August and late October you can float over the chum salmon as they wait to make their way up the creeks! “30th Anniversary Celebration Get Away”

Reviewed 29 May 2014

Our time away at The Moon Dance Cabin was relaxing... enchanting peaceful and romantic. The cabin was so beautiful! It was exactly what we needed. We did some hiking in the area... Enjoyed The Painted Boats Spa... and a wonderful dinner at The Rock Water Cave Restaurant. We loved sitting on the deck at the cabin enjoying a beverage in the morning and listening to all the birds.... a small taste of paradise... we hope to be back sometime soon. The longer we were there ... the more the place grew on us. Thank You for sharing this hide away! ::))

“Perfect getaway!”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2014

My boyfriend and I like to get away from it all once in a while and we found the perfect place for a quiet, romantic weekend on the Sunshine Coast. The cabin is cozy and has a rustic feel to it, which we love, yet is newer, well maintained, and has all the ammenities you might need for a comfortable weekend. The location sold us on it. It has complete seclusion and solitude. Kathleen and Brent are great hosts. Their booking system is well organized. They responded promptly and provided all the information we could have possibly needed for our stay.

“Very peaceful and relaxing”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

If you are looking for a calm and relaxing getaway, no where near anyone else, this is it. Other than some small cabins across the bay, you are in the middle of peace and quiet. The only sounds are nature and the crackling of the wood fireplace (with a generous unlimited wood supply!). The cabin in so pleasant inside and really a perfect size for what we needed. Only "heads-up" would be that the hill entry could make accessibility difficult for those with physical challenges, and that the waterfront wasn't quite what we were after but that would depend on the tides (was muddy and not beach-combing the time we were there). Kathleen was lovely to make the booking with, and even at the last-minute day of request she accommodated. Couldn't have been easier to access and get into. I don't know I've ever dealt with someone as nice as she was and had such a smooth process.

“Must. Go. Back.”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2013

A great experience from the moment I spoke to Kathleen on the phone to make all the arrangements. We also had the pleasure of meeting Brent on site. Often when looking at options online, you wonder if the pictures are taken in a way that makes the property look better than it actually is. When my husband and I opened the door to the Cabin, I was happy to note that the pictures didn't lie, and what you can't realize in a photo is the cleanliness. We stay in a lot of hotels and this property is bar far the cleanest we have ever been in. And we stay in really nice hotels. Everything we needed to be comfortable was there. We had no reason to leave to get anything and so the stay was unbelievably relaxing and picturesque. After reading the story of Moondance and what was involved in building it - we couldn't help but imagine what that was like to build. It made us appreciate every element even more. It was our first time to Pender. What a great representation of all that is wonderful on the Sunshine Coast. We are already trying to figure out the earliest we can make our way back. “Peaceful, beautiful spot”

A lovely, quiet hideaway. Kathleen and Brent have created a wonderful place - we look forward to returning and also staying at 'the Perch'.

“Solitude and seclusion - just what we needed...”

Reviewed 21 May 2013

We just returned from a two night stay at the Perch. It was a getaway we needed desperately and we had a great stay. The cabin was well-equipped and sparkling clean (which is very important to us)when we arrived. We enjoyed the seclusion and natural beauty of cabin and property - particularly the deck where we spent our afternoons relaxing. We loved the food fireplace and appreciated the provided wood. I found it amazing that Kathleen and Brent took so much care to ensure that the Perch had every amenity for people with mobility issues. From the ramp on the exterior to the extra wide accessible shower with a movable showerhead and the easy access to the bed, this is a place where anyone could/would be comfortable. We hiked a trail on the Francis Rd Peninsula out to the lighthouse on the recommendation of the young woman working in the Madiera Park info centre and it was easy to do and well worth the views. We ate dinner one evening at the Painted Boat restaurant and the food and service were amazing. We would definitely come back for another stay.
