Description

Grandma Z's Guesthouse is a three bedroom, 2 bath house available for short term rentals. Located in the small town of Alta Vista in northeast Iowa, this property works well for a quiet get away, for those times when family gathers for weddings and other celebrations, for hunting trips, and for short term work assignments in the area. We have had guests use it to host birthday parties, family reunions, bridal showers and holiday gatherings as well as being used by hunters, honeymooners, and those working short term work assignments.

The property is fully furnished and includes linens, towels, pots and pans, dining needs, two televisions (including a SMART unit on the lower level), and wireless internet service with a desktop computer also available for use. Other amenities include a lidded charcoal grill (guests provide the charcoal and lighter fluid), washer and dryer, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, board games, and cd player and radio.

The ranch style house features two bedrooms on the main floor, each equipped with a queen sized bed with a full bath (tub/shower combination) upstairs bedroom has a ceiling fan. The second main floor bedroom has a sliding patio door that opens onto a deck. Because the property borders on to an east facing farm field, guests have told us they enjoy leaving the patio door drapes open at night to either watch the fireflies or to catch the great sunrises the next morning.

The kitchen is equipped with a full sized refrigerator and stove (glass top), dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, toaster and a good selection of pots and pans and dining ware. A washer and dryer is also located on the main floor and can be used by guests.

On the lower level, you will find a bedroom equipped with a full sized bed and an egress window. A love seat located downstairs folds out into a single bed. A bathroom with a shower and a kitchen area (including a table and four charis) are also located on the lower level. A SMART tv and a desktop computer are available as well. There is a large family room on the lower level that contains several couches and loveseats in addition to the TV.

The house also contains a sitting area on the deck with a patio table and 4 chairs plus additional seating. A few steps below the deck is a covered patio area with a picnic table and additional seating.

The house is a no smoking unit. Pets are not allowed in the house but can be kenneled in the attached garage. Guests can smoke on the covered patio or elsewhere outside.

The house features keyless entry which is coded to a unique four digit code of the guests' choice. A second unit, The Recker House, is located directly across the street. Many guests rent both houses for larger family functions.

If you want to tour NE Iowa as we did this is a great centrally located place to stay. Had everything one needs for a weekend getaway and plenty of space!

This is a wonderfully quiet community that isn't far from larger cities to do things. They are wonderful people and would highly recommend this as a place to take your family when visiting Iowa!
