“Beautiful, just beautiful!”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2015

Beautiful home with beautiful views! Such a very relaxing stay. Makes a great home base while seeing the sights in and around Trinidad. More than one would expect from a vacation home, upgraded kitchen, comfy furniture, very clean. Cindy, the property manager was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint is not being able to use the fireplace because the owner does not want the smokey smell in the house. My I recommend a gas fireplace? Fire, no smelly smoke.

Response from the owner Thanks, a gas fireplace would be a good idea. I love the sound of crackling wood though, but it's not good ecologically. The reason you were given isn't my feeling at all. I don't mind the smoky smell. It may have been because the people following you had an asthma condition and were sensitive to smoke or it might have been that there were forest fires burning in the wider area. Sometimes we say no fires in the summer when it's warm enough and there are other fires in the mountains. In the summer we don't usually build a fire but we go to have a cookout at Patrick's Point State Park when it's not fire season. Sorry. I know having a fire is a special treat. Lesley

“Beautiful and relaxing”

We spent our Thanksgiving at this home and it will always be a special one to us. Our son attends college nearby so we decided to go to him instead of him coming home. The home is just as pictured. It is warm, comfortable, beautiful scenery and has everything you need. You can take a jacuzzi tub upstairs and look out the windows and skylight to beautiful trees. You can sit outside and never get tired of looking at all of the beauty surrounding you and can hear the ocean across the street. If you are in the right spot on the front porch you can even see the ocean. Cindy met us at the house and was very helpful and kind. We are thinking this might be our new thanksgiving tradition. Thank you Lesley for your beautiful home.

Response from the owner Thanks, or your wonderful review. We bought the house when our daughter was attending Humboldt State College. She helped us discover this beautiful part of Calif. Good luck to your son. Lesley

“Magical Garden in the Mist”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2013

Without a doubt, this was the most lovely experience we have ever had! We relaxed amidst the idyllic garden setting, lounged within the warmth of the gorgeous wood of the cabin walls, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the fog stop at the end of the driveway and lightly wisp far above our heads as though we were in a special place continually blessed by sunshine during the day and myriad stars at night. The pond provided a meditative spot beyond compare where we could watch the lotus flowers open throughout the day and occasionally get a visit from the charming, yet somewhat shy koi fish, whom we named "Oscar." The sounds of the surf from across the road and the glorious quietness of the property was medicine for our souls. Dining in the sunroom brightened our days right from the start and warmed our hearts in the evening. The property manager greeted us on our arrival and gave us a very thorough tour of the property. She was readily available during the week of our stay if we had any questions and offered us valuable information about the surrounding community. The town of Trinidad is a tiny, charming fishing village. The dining choices are limited, but decent, save for Moonstone Grill which belies its name by offering four-star food and service overlooking the Pacific Ocean and provided us with a supremely romantic dining experience on par with those we can experience in the Sonoma Wine Country where we live. When we chose to cook our own meals at the cabin, the kitchen was outfitted with more than ample space, utensils, cooking tools, and a glorious gas range that I found to be a joy to cook on. We felt as though we had truly found our own private heaven in this secluded Garden of Eden. The bath upstairs in the loft has a superb jacuzzi tub that can easily soothe the soul as well as the body. The walk-in closet seems like an entire room in itself. The bed was divinely comfortable and the loft lit up with the morning light, welcoming us to each day.

Response from the owner Tnanks for your glowing review. We love the house too. We'll continue to work on and fix any problems. During our last visit my husband cleared the brush so it's possible to walk further than the pond. The seven acres are mostly overgrown, and Rob is gradually trying to clear the underbrush to creat a more walkable forest setting.

“Ideal location; awesome place”

This is a very well maintained house. Extremely tranquil around the house. Ideal location to explore the Redwoods. The whole family had a great time, especially the kids. We will certainly stay here again if we are in the area again.

Response from the owner We appreciate you great review. We too find the house a tranquil, connected to nature retreat. The yard near the house is cleared enough for active play, and it's great to know that kids can be safely outside, yet within earshot. Lesley
