Very Good

“The good, the bad and Dana Point”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2016

I spent about 1 week in this home during my stay away on the second week of August. The weather was about 80 and sunny most of the time I was there. The outside of the home is well landscaped. The pathway is nice and the outside is very "california". The backyard is mostly a large porch with a grill, firepit and decent landscaping. As you walk into the home it's a very open living room with fireplace, wood floors, large TV and 3 couches. The dining area was a little small but you could possibly seat 6. The first problem here is the portable air conditioner which takes up about a 3x3 foot space in the corner and runs often to keep the front rooms cool. When I first arrived, the house was hot and humid and it took awhile to cool. The kitchen was nice with granite counter tops and a nice fridge. I like gas appliances so the stove was good for me. You also have a garbage disposal and dishwasher which are nice. Down the hall to the left you'll find the spare bedroom and bathroom. You'll also find a confusing kitchenette area with no running water that makes no sense. I thought that might be a great place stackable washer and dryer. The spare bathroom is decent and spacious. The spare bedroom is a little concerning. The spare bedroom has a sliding glass door that is next to a side yard that your neighbors can hang out in. The spare bedroom has no air conditioner so it does get warm despite fans. The most off putting thing about the spare bedroom was the smell. It was almost like a sewer smell. I actually avoided the spare room if I could. The master bedroom had a very nice bed, wood floors, good furniture and another portable air conditioner. One day while I was gone the air conditioner stopped. Fortunately, it was as easy as removing the drainage plug, draining and restarting. The master bath was spacious with a nice whirlpool tub but I can't understand why there wasn't a shower curtain or door. It's very easy to soak the floor taking a shower. The home is actually 5 minutes driving from the beach which is very nice. Harbor is roughly 10 minutes away. Most conveniences are pretty close. Disneyland and Knotts Berry were about 35-45 minutes away approximately. The neighborhood was very quiet at night and usually very quiet during the day. The owner left a bottle of wine which was nice of them. This was my first trip to California. I have no idea what is typical as far as housing. I have no reference for comparison. I can only share my experience. I feel what i paid was probably right on par with similar properties. Thank you.

“Definetly recommend it!!”

Reviewed 17 Mar 2015

We had family coming to CA from Europe to take their children to Disneyland and to enjoy a vacation. We had little time to book and alot of places responded slow and with delays. I contacted this location and received a response first thing in the morning. A very pleasant gentleman named Ross assisted me in getting the information I required. Was very knowledgeable and to the point. I got everything booked on the same day. When arrived, the location is amazing; near by beach, close to downtown everything was perfect. Honestly I cannot say a single negative thing! Definetly would recommend to anyone who is heading out to that location!

This place was fantastic. It was close to everything in Dana Point and the laguna area. It was clean and comfortable. The backyard and fire pit were great features. I would recommend to anyone.

“Quiet, relaxing, safe, and close to the beach!”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

My 25 year old daughter and I stayed here for 5 days alone, before we were joined by my husband, niece and her infant son for two days. This house was in a good location so we felt safe while we we're alone. It is close to the beach (we drove because there was no way my asthma was going to let me walk up the hill.) There is a Smart and Final a couple miles away that has excellent produce to stock up the fridge. We were grateful to find the beach chairs and umbrella for our use. We used two of the beach towels to hang over the back sliding door because the afternoon heat made the house so hot. (Bring a couple push pins along so you can do the same!) We used Yelp to help us find some tasty places to eat. You should try the Shwack. Big Al's burger is one of the best I've ever had. My only suggestions: hang curtains over the patio door or provide push pins and provide a swiffer so guests can dry mop the floor (the floors were a bit dirty and since we were walking around barefoot to comply with the rules, our feet were black. I just wish I had brought my swiffer! There must have been a dog there at some point because when I swept there was quite a pile of hair - no worries though... We still loved our stay!)

“Great Seaside Getaway”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2014

If you want a clean spacious peaceful spot near the ocean - look no further! We were looking for a place where my friend could recuperate from surgery and this was perfect. The house is very roomy, well appointed, and has a lovely back yard. The neighborhood is very quiet which made sitting in the back yard pleasant at all times of the day or night. We enjoyed our beach day at the San Clemente Pier and it was wonderful to come 'home' and unwind in the back yard. Ross provides everything you could ever need including beach chairs, towels and umbrella! He is quick to respond to questions or problems. And what a pleasant surprise to find a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us! The house is conveniently located with shopping, dining and beaches close by. My friend tired easily so it was nice to have everything a short 10 minute drive away. I would highly recommend Ross's little heaven!

“This is a great deal!”

This location was great, the house is recently updated, and was furnished with everything that we needed. Ross was very personal and straightforward with instructions which made it easy to abide by. If you are thinking of a vacation place to stay, I would highly recommend this one. Thanks Ross!

“Perfect vacation spot!”

Great location, great property! It's right by the beach. Throughout our stay we visited other nearby beaches including Laguna and Newport. The house itself was excellent. Very spacious and clean. We had everything we needed which was very convenient. We used the grill every night for cook outs and made use of the fire pit as well! I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway.

Response from the owner Thanks Chelsea, glad you guys enjoyed your stay.

“Great stay!”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

My husband and I stayed a week here. It was exactly as pictured. Lots of nice touches. The fixtures are lovely. It was clean, comfy and the neighborhood was super quite. The location was close to my daughter's so that was perfect for us. Very central. We drove the beach road (to far of a walk for us!)many times. We had a BBQ one day and then my husband just had to try the firepit in the back yard! Worked great. We had a problem with the TV and Ross came over promptly to take care of it. We appreciated his concern. The heater units were the only thing I didn't care for. We would stay here again. So much nicer than a hotel room and a great value.

Response from the owner Thanks Ginger, and hope to see you guys back here again :)

“Quiet neighborhood, quaint little house.”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2014

I stayed in the house with my mother in law and 3 year old and it was perfect for all three of us. The TV comes complete with netflix and Hulu plus, so there wasn't ever a shortage of movies or shows or kids movies to choose from. My mother in law stocked up on snacks and food, and we cooked our first night in the beautifully remodeled kitchen. What really impressed me was how open the entire living, dining room, and kitchen were. It was all set up perfectly so that one person could watch TV, one could piddle in the kitchen, and they could both chat if they wanted. It was pristine when we entered the house. Everything was absolutely spotless. The beds were comfy. My only qualm is that the beach wasn't really within walking distance. Well, it was, but with a toddler, all downhill (which meant all uphill the way back), and carrying chairs and umbrellas, it wasn't the smartest decision. We ended up driving down to the beach and paying 1 dollar an hour, which is fine. I just had pictured it being closer to the beach. If you have kids, there is a perfect park across the street that seems to be always crawling with kids and has a huge playground. My little one had a blast there. :) All in all, it was a great stay. Very relaxing in a top notch, beautifully decorated home.

Response from the owner Glad you guys enjoyed the place. As for the distance to the beach, we provide the exact map and walking direction in the guidebook and even in the listing pictures here. The rest is up to travelers to walk or drive. Of course it will be much easier to drive if you are with toddlers, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc ...

“A great Family Memory”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2014

Thanks Ross, we absolutely loved the house. It was a terrific place for us to celebrate our son's 18th birthday. Despite the rain storm, the house was so comfortable and quaint it felt like home. It was really nice for us to be able to include our dog as well which made it a true family getaway! Thank you Ross for your quick response from our booking to responding to questions throughout our stay. The location is nice because it is just minutes walk to the beach which we did do even though we got caught out in the rain. (there is a hill to get down to the beach but not bad) We will definitely be returning for a summer visit. Thank you Ross for the use of your home.

Response from the owner You're very welcome, glad you guys liked the place.
