OPEN MAY TO OCTOBER 2019

Loft apartment over a small barn, on a Mid coast Maine island, close to Acaidia National Park (must take ferry to/from Acadia National Park). The apartment offers fully furnished, comfortable accommodations for a single, or couple. The property is a fifteen - twenty minute walk from the shore. The property is located in the woods on 5 acres on one of Maine's coastal islands, Swans Island. The apartment is a seasonal rental, available May to October, by the night (two nights minimum weekends - Friday&Saturday), with a weekly rate available on request.

The studio apartment is in a quiet and secluded area, overlooking a large clearing in a heavily wooded red spruce forest. The apartment includes a private sleeping area, a toilet/shower area with a door, and a large kitchen/living area. Hot water is included. The apartment includes a propane cooktop, a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, crock pot, and apartment size refrigerator. Pots, pans, and cooking utensils are provided, as well as dishes, bowls, etc. Linens, towels, paper goods are also included. Everything needed for occupancy is found in the apartment except for groceries and beverages. WIFI is available in the apartment; cable TV and satellite TV is not available. A VCR is provided together with a varied video library. An Amazon Firestick for Internet streaming is attached to the apartment TV.

Swan' s Island is about 7,000 acres (80 square miles) in size. The Island offers many hiking trails of varying challenge, excellent opportunities for kayaking/canoeing, and ready access to the waterfront. Many visitors return yearly to enjoy the picturesque views and seclusion of a mid coast Maine Island, reachable only by water. There are no bars, or clubs. There is a museum, a lighthouse open to the public, and a library. Throughout the summer there are many community sponsored activities. The "Sweet Chariot" music festival is an annual event in early August.

Getting around

There are about 20 miles of roads - improved/gravel - on the island. The terrain is hilly, so biking will be a workout. There are about 25 miles of hiking trails, of varying challenge - some easy, some not so easy, all with great scenery. There are beaches ranging from rocky to fine sand. Our property shares four acres of waterfront, with a picnic area. There is a Town park with a shelter and picnic area on Mill Pond. We suggest a car, as the island encompasses about 7,000 acres. Access to the island is by Maine DOT Ferry from Bass Harbor, ME.

Interaction with guest

Privacy is assured. We are available for assistance if/when needed. We will greet meet you on arrival, give you the keys, provide an orientation to the apartment, review a list of things to do/places to go/hiking trails, and make suggestions. if you need help with the charcoal grill (charcoal provided), obtaining/cooking lobster we are happy to assist. If you need an introductory tour of the island, that can be arranged. We appreciate that you have made an extra effort to get to the island, so we will do what we can to make sure you enjoy your stay. See our reviews.

“Relaxing Maine Island Experience”

A great way to experience the unique Maine Island Lifestyle. Quiet, and very clean loft apartment. Everything is in good condition or new. We enjoyed our experience. Our host were very helpful and accommodating.
