Quiet, safe, private, furnished 1st-floor entire-house apartment with outdoor patio for leisure or work visits to L.A. Guest has own, exclusive front door, mailbox, street address and front patio. Adjacent to Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, Fairfax & Beverly Hills cities/districts. Hang your hat here to avoid those busy, difficult hotels-motels during your extended L.A. stay--whether as a working professional with a cool gig or contract, or a carefree "Travelartist" reveling in Hollywood's eternal summer!
Going west, it's a short walk to CBS-TV City, where a number of HBO shows & "The Price is Right," among others, are produced. CBS-TV City is an official L.A. landmark and mid-20th century architectural monument. The house is also a short drive to studios like Paramount, Fox, Universal; and only a 15 min. drive (or 25-min. bus ride) to downtown L.A. and less than a half-hour drive to the beach in Santa Monica (about double that if taking buses--but they run every half-hour, every day).
Adjacent to CBS-TV City are the Grove (shopping-dining-cinemas) and the Farmers' Market (showbiz watering hole and massive food-court-bazaar of international cuisines). As well, going south, only half a mile away from the villa, is the Mid-Wilshire district, aka the Miracle Mile, home of the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Petersen Automotive Museum and the Southwest Craft and Folk Art Museum. The place is also only two blocks from Pan Pacific Park and its gym, fitness classes, and basketball/tennis courts. It's ten or 15 min. to attractions like Hollywood Sign, Hollywood Blvd., Universal Studios Hollywood, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Kodak Theater, etc.
Elements of the house's own fitness for purpose and architectural heritage? It's a mid-'20s flapper-era villa of approximately 800 sf with a 150 sf, enclosed, private-access front patio and its 9-foot umbrella--for open-air dining and entertaining. There is an Italian-made queen bed in the sleeping area with French linens and all-cotton towels, among other quality amenities--such as an equally Italian-made, slide-out twin daybed/couch in the living room.
The interior is fully updated, featuring new paint and hardwood floors; a fully-equipped, sun-drenched kitchen; a laundry-room with full washer-dryer separates; a walk-in closet; a 48" LCD TV with DirectTV (cable TV with movie channels and DVD player); in the work area, there's a long white-laminated desk with return and desk chair, inches away from a fast Netgear Wi-Fi router.
Meanwhile, while here, one can also enjoy short walks to Melrose Ave., La Brea Ave., Fairfax Ave. districts. Take short walks to high-end cafes/eateries along Beverly Bl. (Italian, kosher, tapas--see Area's Style FAQ below). Even shorter walk, two blocks, to Pan Pacific Park--with hiking trails, the Holocaust museum, a free fitness center. Short 20-min. walk to Mid-Wilshire Blvd., aka the Miracle Mile. Supermarkets nearby: multiple Ralphs, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and Erewhon markets, plus several weekly farmers' markets (Wilshire Courtyard, Mid-Wilshire, City of LA; Poinsettia Park, West Hollywood; Beverly Hills, Santa Monica).
Guests have on-street permit-parking. But car is not essential, due to apartment's central location and local transit. If a car still desired, the nearest Hertz Rent-A-Car is 10 min. walk away (.6 mi); Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 12 min. walk away (.7 mi); Zipcar stop, too, nearby. Parking available?--Yes, again, plentiful on-street permit-parking directly in front of the house. Host provides a city parking permit. Guests return permit with their keys at end of stay.
Here are FAQs: Area safe? Yes, residents use streets and sidewalks avidly with dogs and children but quietly until bedtime. Crime well-suppressed by Los Angeles Police Dept (LAPD), neighborhood watch and on-site manager while you sleep. Apartment and its front patio lie directly in beam of streetlight only 50 feet away. Patio and the house have their own outdoor lights, barred windows, double deadbolt locks.
Area's style? Nice combination of quiet-pious-residential, on the one hand, and metro-cosmopolitan-touristy, on the other. This part of L.A. has a cool place-within-a-place--the area, two-blocks away, of Beverly Blvd. bet. La Brea and Fairfax Aves., including the Grove, Farmer's Market, CBS TV City and Pan Pacific Park. Great shops/eateries lie along Beverly, including thumping Tapas joints, classic/contemporary Italian venues, and two old standbys for fresh-and-easy/on-the-go and wholesome/natural fare, respectively--Stirmarket and BLD (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Public transit available?--Yes, at the Metro bus stop, Gardner St./Beverly Blvd. (G/B), only 2 blocks away (2-min walk). From G/B, Metro bus #14 connects quickly to Vermont/Beverly (V/B) subway station. Other Metro buses head elsewhere.. Ditto at Gardner St./W. 3rd St. (G/3), about 4 blocks away (7-min walk). From here, too, Metro buses go east quickly to Metro subway station at Vermont/Beverly (V/B). From V/B, subway whisks you within 25-40 min. to places like Hollywood, Downtown, Exposition Park (California Science Center--via #754 bus) and so many other alluring places to visit in metro Los Angeles. How to plan excursions?--Whether you drive or use public transit, definitely use Google Maps or another service to plan your excursions in advance. We strongly suggest visiting a number of places within an area like Hollywood or West L.A. (since it's likely you'll have time to visit only one such major area per day). You can also launch your forays from another nearby subway station--Hollywood Bl. & Highland Ave., a major tourist site and home of the Academy Awards--the new Kodak Theater

As to charming decor, our site is now included in the new Beverly Fairfax Historic District. So one drinks in the decor of old L.A. both inside and outside, with every step. Of course, one won't explore *all* of L.A.'s cool, new restaurants from here. But thanks to the location, we certainly have way more than our fair share. And a bus system constantly improving.
