“Thanksgiving in Tahoe”
My family rented this house for Thanksgiving weekend. This was our first time being away from home for the holiday and we could not have felt more comfortable. The house is beautiful, decorated with cabin decor, and very well kept. The kitchen was spacious and my brother-in-law and I had plenty of space to cook our Thanksgiving meal. The kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and we all took advantage of the hot tub on the cold nights. The house was right across the street from a rocky beach which was perfect for a winter trip. The kids were entertained for hours throwing rocks in the lake and creating a collection which they begged to take home with us. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a Tahoe getaway! We hope to return!
“One of the best places I've ever stayed at in Tahoe.”
This home was wonderful. Felt like a home not just a rental. Proximity to the lake and the buoy were huge attributes. Allowed pets and had wireless Internet and modern televisions. Best of all though has to be the incredible, huge deck off the main level. Could sit out there for hours! Thanks so much for the wonderful week. Hope to stay here again next summer...for two weeks instead of just one!
My third year in a row at this house! Just gets better and more relaxing.. Love the upgrades/new deck/patio furniture! Thanks for allowing my family to enjoy for a week! Mike
“Comfy and cozy”
We were very happy with our accommodations. The location near Homewood was ideal for us. The house was comfy and cozy. It's rustic and casual decor promoted our feeling of ease in making ourselves at home there. The pool table was a big hit. We were able to find what we needed in the way of kitchen utensils and cookware. The beds were comfortable. The driveway was very steep and difficult to manage even with our 4 wheel drive vehicle.
Our stay was wonderful and we did not want to leave! The house was perfect for our family and was centrally located to everything we wanted to see. We will definately come back next year.
“Great getaway for a large group”
We had a family reunion in Tahoe and rented this house as ground zero for the group. It is a great space for large groups-big deck, big rec room with pool table, great kitchen and plenty of dishes. Easy access to the lake and many activities. A couple of negatives-beds are very hard; the house is not perfect. Found the place slightly shoddy. But Tahoe Getaways where very responsive and attentive to our slightest needs.
“Comfy place - Great location - Steep Driveway!”
We stayed here from Dec 27 to Jan 2, 2012. Overall we had a great time. Pros: Wifi! Centrally located on the lake. Easy drive to south lake if 89 is open. Easy drive to Tahoe House Bakery. Rooms are a good size and by having 2 rooms upstairs and 2 down, spreads out space. The downstairs has a great "spare" family room and pool table. The hot tub is great. Its downstairs and covered by the upstairs deck, so you won't need to talk through snow to get to it. Cons: The beds are hard in the some of the rooms and should be replaced. The sheets were also pretty tattered so if you like nice sheets, bring your own. I ended up sleeping on my aerobed. The driveway was steep. We had some ice on it which made it difficult to get up. My car slid a bit and I thought it was going to fall in a big hole off the driveway. I couldn't imagine what would happen if it was snowing. The kitchen is lacking. Only a few pots and utensils. Blender was missing parts. Tons of parts for a food processor, but no base. No wine glasses! Old school Tube Tv's. Not that we watch TV much in Tahoe, but the Tv's are old. Note / Warning: This home is not good for kids or pets in the winter due to the patio's glass railing that is removed during the winter. I would definitely consider this house for Spring / Summer Tahoe... probably not winter due to its steep driveway.
“Lake View Beauty!”
The large deck with the perfect sun exposure (in august) and a lovely lake view framed by tall pines made this a quintessential "Lake Tahoe" experience. The upper floor of the house is homey and accommodating with a large user-friendly kitchen. Very-close access to bike trail, round-pebble public beach and public pier are all pluses. Bottom level of house was a bit musty, but the kids (large and small) enjoyed the pool table. Overall, a really happy lake vacation for us!
Big deck, close to the lake, highway not an issue, buoy is easy to use. Only hiccup is the kitchen utensils are basic and not until the 3rd blender i found did i have one working - but it worked out. Generally a great place!!!
“Nice location, clean and comfortable; but had maintenance issues”
This vacation rental is located off the main road, across from the lake, with a limited-lake view. Parking for a ski boat trailer is challenging and requires an expert driver, as it is steep and narrow in some areas. Crossing the road to the lake on foot can be tricky, depending on traffic. The closest beach is beautiful, but not sandy and consists of river-rock and pebbles. The included boat buoy and the local bicycle trails are really nice amenities. The house is clean and very comfortable for 8 people to stay in. It has two bedrooms upstairs that share a hall-bath, and two bedrooms downstairs that share a hall-bath. It has a nice kitchen and laundry room area. There is a family room upstairs and a downstairs rec. room with a pool table. There is a hot tub on the front porch and a lawn with landscaping. The deck upstairs is large, but had some DANGEROUS maintenance conditions when we stayed there (not recommended for the elderly, children or pets). It appeared to be caused by weathering and snow-damage, which had not been repaired by the rental agency or the owners. We have stayed at this house before and would probably rent it again. Several existing interior and exterior maintenance problems were reported to the rental agency. Some of these same things were reported by us to them last year also and not fixed. If these issues are corrected, it would be a very nice vacation rental to stay in at Hurricane Bay in Lake Tahoe.
Response from the manager Thanks for the review on Hurricane Bay Lakeview. While, we do apologize for the deck issue the homeowners were in the process of replacing the weather damaged railings. It has since been repaired. Again, we appreciate the feedback! Management
