I wanted to take a moment to share my wife's and my experience at Kilauea Lakeside Estate. We have an anniversary coming up and had the pleasure of staying at the Estate for our honeymoon for a week. You are immediately transformed when you drive through the gate and for a brief moment you feel like you are driving into someone else's little paradise but then you discover that the directions are in fact correct and the lushness and beauty instantly welcome you 'home' !It's hard to describe everything because it was filled with such a richness for all the senses but I can still feel the grass on my feet as I walked to pick a banana right out off the tree. I can still taste the bold local coffee as I strolled down to the private beach and looked out over the pristine lake as I contemplated the biggest dilemma of the day - whether to kayak on the lake or ocean today or to start the day practicing on the little par 3 hole or go fishing! I can still feel the island breeze as it made it's way through the orchard, picking up various fragrances. We cooked. We read. We played. We drank wine. We strolled. We explored. We warmed under the sun after an outdoor shower and did everything else the Estate had to offer! All of that before we even ventured out onto Kauai. It's hard to imagine that an island as magical as Kauai would have to fight for your attention but we had to force ourselves out of the gate to go explore the beautiful beaches and incredible scenery. It was an incredible honeymoon and I think about it often, as it stays with you - ten years later! We've been married 10 years and are dying to bring our 3 small children to share with them the experience we had and as soon as they are all old enough we will! But for now, we have the photos and the stories and an occasional nostalgic visit to the website just to be reminded that it was, in fact real.. but more than that - we especially have all the wonderful memories!

“A beautiful and tranquil vacation experience”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2012

We enjoyed a wonderful ten days here with our son, daughter-in-law and their two children. The lakeside setting is stunning, the grounds beautifully landscaped, and the house comfortable and well-appointed. The master suite is truly spectacular -- it has one of the best showers and bath we've ever experienced. The second bedroom is quite pleasant, and the third bedroom, although small, was perfectly adequate for the grandkids. The owner was most welcoming and accommodating. You can easily spend most of your vacation time relaxing in this lovely and tranquil place, but it's also well located, about ten minutes from the Kilauea lighthouse or our favorite beach at Kalihiwai. Highly recommended!

“Beautiful, peaceful retreat”

The estate was in immaculate condition and with sublime views. The owners were available and helpful, but not intrusive. We would highly recommend this property.

“What a vacation is meant to be.”

From the moment you enter the immaculately-kept grounds of the Kilauea Lakeside Estates, you are struck with the innate feeling that you've discovered your own secret paradise. The stresses of the real world are carried away in the plumeria-scented cross-breezes that seem to arrive at just the right time. Nothing else matters but being in that very moment. Situated within minutes of Kilauea proper & a short-drive from Hanalei & Princeville, you're never short of things to do. Of course the estate itself affords a wealth of opportunities for recreation, be it the private par-3 golf hole, the lake complete with kayaking, or the lounge-worthy deck & grass surrounding the property...perfect for catching up on that book you never got around to reading back home. But I would be remiss not to mention the house itself. Impeccably detailed with a Bali-inspired modern sensibility, no expense was spared in providing guests with all of the flair of a luxury resort. The master bathroom's jacuzzi tub is the perfect end to a day in the sun. All of the appliances are top of the line & the TV comes complete with a satellite hookup. It's amazing to think that this sort of life can exist. We cannot recommend the estates strongly enough. Frankly it's what we'll be measuring all other vacations against now.

“A Perfect Retreat”

The Kilauea Lakeside Estate was just wonderful. You have created a beautiful, serene, and hospitable place in a crazy and busy world. We loved the great room living area. With the sliding glass doors open, a beautiful warm moist breeze blew through all the time. The kitchen was ever so functional and lovely at the same time. We enjoyed immensely the pool by the cabins. We spent a warm afternoon over there in privacy and comfort. In the bedroom upstairs, we both slept better than we have in a long time, and the bathroom is quite dramatic and lovely. We had one day of intense rain, and we found sitting inside looking out at the rain to be quite romantic. The grounds were spacious, beautiful, and well kept. The house was immaculate and quite elegant. The manager kindly and helpfully answered some questions for us in two phone calls, and the owner was very helpful with advice about Kaua'i -- restaurants, sightseeing, etc. We could hardly imagine a nicer place to stay.

“Honeymoon Paradise”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2011

My wife and I spent a week at the Kilauea Lakeside Estate for our honeymoon. We loved the place and found it comfortable, quiet, private and relaxing. It is within easy driving distance of supermarkets, beaches, restaurants and is a good middle ground to be able to explore each end of the island. Steve who owns the property called to ensure we were settled in and made sure we knew exactly where the best spots were to go ( swimming beaches, private beaches, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, massage spas, hiking etc) and made himself available whenever we needed him, but also respected our privacy. The house is fully decked out with whatever you need from recreational (paddling boats, fishing rods, beach towels, golf clubs for the private par 3 hole ) to preparing your own food. We loved sitting on the back deck enjoying a glass of wine overlooking the Lake at the end of the day. For something private and different from a large crowded hotel for your vacation, this place is it.

“A serene and beautiful location”

We had an amazing stay. The home and estate is beautiful and worked perfectly for our family with two young children, another couple, and my parents. Both the grounds and interior are beautiful and serene--this is the perfect place to relax in Kauai. We've stayed at several other places on the island and this is by far our favorite.

“Perfect location for a tranquility and relaxation.”

A week wasn't long enough. Beautifully landscaped property, perfect location-very private, awesome private lake, couldn't of asked for a better trip. Not far drive from main town. Although we never really wanted to leave property. Had breakfast every morning on the patio, took the boat out to relax on lake after. Napped in the hammock, tanned on lawn. Went for walks around property. Can't remember the last time I felt that relaxed! Highly recommended to all!

“The house was amazing, the grounds beautiful, truly paradise.”

We have stayed at Kilauea Lakeside Estates four times over the last ten years and love it. Our children were small the first time and now are teenagers and they have room to play and run outside, the nearby beaches are pristine and the estate itself is gorgeous. We love going to the nearby Farmer's Markets for fresh fruit and vegetables. On our snorkeling adventures we have seen turtles and hundreds of colorful fish. Bring an underwater camera with you. The beaches are clean and uncrowded and the nights are especially lovely. We sat outside on the patio and played cards with our friends till after midnight. On our first visit we took our parents with us and our entire family had a trip that they will never forget. On our last trip we took another family with us. We cannot wait to return.

“Kauau as it's Supposed to Be!”

What a unique place to stay and experience the real Kauai! Not exactly off the beaten path, not exactly in the bustle of town, this house is all time if you're looking for great hospitality, a beautiful house, fun things to do, and true immersion in the garden island. As you arrive down a private drive you're greeted by rows of plumerias, tropical orchards, and a view of the lake you'll be enjoying... instantly you're in paradise. Fish, golf, hike, kayak--it's all there for you. Or just relax in the redesigned house... we were told it's eco conscience and sustainable, which was cool. It's also beautifully appointed with decor from Bali and plush decor. Full kitchen, insane views throughout. And when you're ready to get off the property (why would you), the property owners are very helpful. They showed us all the best secluded beaches, restaurants, hiking trails, surf spots, and waterfalls--we were instant locals! Unfortunately I had to work a little, but it was sweet because the house is wired for Wi-fi. This house is in the middle of the jungle on a private lake with a golf hole even... don't miss out on this one... we'll be back for sure!
