“A different experience”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2013

Positive: 1) Spacious- we were able to have meals together around the big dinning area as well as family activities in the hall. Rooms were big too. 2) Its a different experience compared to staying in a hotel. We were able to experience how the local live. 3) It is very near to Piazza Navona which is wonderful as there was a Christmas market going on. It was also within walking distance from Campo De Fiori which has a daily fresh produce market and nice bakery. Trevi fountain and Pantheon is also nearby. There is a few small supermarket or more of a convenient store (5 mins walk) if you need anything. 4) The person whom I email to make arrangement for our stay, Ms Veronika Suba provided superb service. She answered all my questions promptly. So was David whom had checked us in on the day of arrival. Kudos to them. Negative Points: 1) The apartment was dated and old, furnishing did not look as cheery and new as the photos I have seen. 2) Somethings were broken and dirty, example, the tap in the bathroom in the Master bedroom was broken. The kettle could not be used as there were chalk like residue crusted on the heating coil. The lift was broken and we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs. Fortunately, David, the person who checked us in, helped us. 3) Maps and brochures about Rome were not provided. It would have been better as we were walking about on our own. 4) Unlike a hotel, we had to replenish toilet papers and washing detergents which is abit of a hassle. The Euro 100 cleaning fee is abit too expensive as it did not cover daily washing of towels. We used our towels for 4 days. 5) Our main concern was safety. We had people trying to come into the apartment during our stay. The person had a set of keys which could open all the locks. He was from the Real Estate, as they were trying to sell the apartment. There were people loitering outside the apartment and one approached my sister asking to be let in. We locked all the doors all the time.

Response from the manager I am sorry for the unfortunate experience as you were leaving the house. We had adverted the owner that your check out would not be the normal 11:00 am but about 15:30 and did not expect them to come earlier. This was the same person who attempted to buzz you on the intercom. I also noticed the workmen next door who were repairing a bathroom and apologize for the occurrence which is something which we could not able to anticipate. The apartment next to the one your rented is owned by the Vice-Premier of Italy so I can assure you that there was no security risk caused by his workers, however, I can sympathize with your apprehension. The flat is located practically across the street from the Senate and there are cameras on the first floor of the building, there has never been a security issue. I thank you for your suggestion of additional lighting in the very large living room, we have provided for this now. The residual in the kettle was calcium deposits from the boiling water. Rome water is one of the highest is calcium and this causes residue in the washing machine, dishwashers and kettles. While there is no sanitary or health issue caused by this I can, again, understand your perplexity. As far as the apartment being dated, it is a brand new flat, including all furnishings and, although the style may not have been to your liking, I can assure you that it was professionally furnished by a decorated with custom furnishings and no IKEA pieces. Normally detergents for personal washes are not included in the apartments for rent. Also, towels are never changed in vacation rental properties, as opposed to hotels, unless guests are staying more than 5 days. I did mention that daily change of towels was available at an additional cost and this is listed in our contract as well. The cleaning fee is actually low in this apartment for the 10 guests that it accommodated. The €100 paid does not cover the professional laundry cost of washing all the towels and sheets and the maid as well. In closing, we have resolved the minor lighting issue and, in future, we have forbidden any visits to the property on any day guests are present to avoid the reoccurrence of the situation. Naturally I hope that the location and space of this unusually large 5 bedroom provided you with an excellent base to visit everything Rome has to offer within walking distance. Thanking you for your critique, hope you had a safe trip home. Best Regards Habitat Italy

“Incredible apartment in an amazing location.”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2013

We stayed for 3 nights in this apartment which is a stone's throw from Piazza Navona. It is very spacious and was decorated well, and was a quiet and peaceful haven even though it is near such a busy part of the city. Airport pick up, stocking the fridge, babysitting and trips can be arranged easily through the agent. We were 2 families staying (9 people) and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location could not have been better, and I would happily recommend this apartment and agency.
