"Edinburgh Self Catering wants to deliver extraordinary accommodation for people visiting Edinburgh" - well they certainly do with this property! The apartment has everything in it you could possibly need for a short break (or longer). It evens has the 86 (?) steps up to it in keeping with the rest of Edinburgh which certainly helps walk off the haggis! Location is spot on with the hourly free rants from the ghost tours making you really feel in the heart of things. Top drawer! Would definitely recommend.
“Number one place to stay in Edinburgh.”
Parliament Sq 1 is the best place you could possibly stay in Edinburgh. No matter what you are up to, It is right in the center of things and everywhere worth visiting is within walking distance, also being so near to Waverly station a day trip further afield is also easy. As long as you are aware of the stairs to the apartment (82 I think) but they are wide and gentle and well maintained. Being on the top floor has the advantage of a lovely view and when you close the wooden shutters and pull the curtains it muffles any noise but you have to expect some noise as it is the Royal mile after all. The apartment has every thing you could need and is good if you want to spend the evening in after a long day sightseeing or visiting family and friends. Every thing is there to cook a meal and chill out in front of the TV . The beds are comfy so a good nights rest is assured. Edinburgh Self Catering has a very simple online booking site and the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Dave Stewart who meets you at the apartment and carries your bag up for you. He is a fountain of information about Edinburgh and makes sure you have all you need to enjoy your stay. This was our third stay in Parliament Square and we will be back again soon.
We had a wonderful weekend in Edinburgh and the Parliament Square 1 apartment was the ideal place to stay. Perfect location, great size and had all the amenities you could need. Would definitely recommend the apartment.
“Wow what an amazing flat!”
We had a fantastic stay at the flat. Located in a beautiful mansion building with Costa at the foot of the stairs this was a great place for our city visit. Our arrival was seamless and the flat was cosy and absolutely stunning with a lovely fire. It was a great base for exploring and the comfortable beds were most welcome at the end of a long day. The Royal Mile is a great location for exploring and there is so much to do. We will be back. Just to mention the steps aren't for the faint hearted however I was much fitter after the weekend!!!
Accommodation was fantastic with wonderful view over St Giles Cathedral. Thanks to Dave who met us at the flat to show us around at the start of the visit. Will certainly use this accommodation again.
“Great location and comfortable accomodations”
We statyed here for four nights while visiting my daughter who is at University of Edinburgh for a semester. This was a good central location and we could walk virtually everywhere from here. Also close to Waverly Station. We had four of us in this apartment and it was quite comfortable. The fireplace was a bonus. Only slight down side was the four flights of stairs you have to climb to get to this apartment, but it was good exercise for us.
We were greeted at the door by a representative of the Edinburgh catering company who showed us around the suite and helped us get settled. We loved the location of the condo unit as we were situated right on the Royal Mile, within walking distance to all major attractions. The bedrooms were spacious and gave us the opportunity to organize our clothing instead of living out of a suitcase. The water pressure in the shower was heavenly and the bathroom was large. The dining/ living area was roomy, giving us the opportunity to relax and visit after a hard day sight-seeing. The kitchen was well supplied, however, we did struggle with the washer/dryer combination. All in all we had a fabulous time and would recommend this particular unit to others.
“Great flat in a great city”
A friend and I stayed for 4 nights in mid-September 2013. The apartment is at the top of a long flight of stairs, but is well worth the climb. Compared to all the flats we have rented for vacation, this one is, perhaps, the best. It is spacious, clean, well situated for visiting the city, and well appointed. Although this apartment is well up from the ground level (4th floor), the neighbourhood is busy with tourists so can get quite noisy, even with the windows closed. But if city noises don't bother you, then this is the place to be! At 2 streets from the train station, it's easy to get to. It's close to Edinburgh castle, it's on the Royal Mile, and also a short walk to Holyrood Palace or arthur's Seat. This combined with the proximity to several grocery, pub, restaurant, and shopping options makes the location ideal for those who are well mobile by foot. Inside, the apartment has 2 very comfortable beds, large windows which let a good draft through on the warmer days, but can also be closed with shutters to keep the dawn sunshine away. The kitchen has most of the equipment that anyone will need for a short stay, as well as a combination washer/dryer. There was good WiFi service which worked throughout the apartment. The living/dining area was very comfortable for sitting with a glass of wine and reading a book, or sitting around the small table. I would highly recommend this place to those who are able to climb the stairs (no elevator), and don't mind the street noise. The location for visiting and sightseeing in Edinburgh couldn't be better. The owners/caretakers are very nice and informative. They greeted us when we got there, showed us around the flat, and also provided us with some suggestions on places to visit, eat, drink, and buy groceries. I look very forward to my next visit!
We stayed in Parliament Sq1 apartment for 4 nights in Sept 2013 and the apartment was fantastic. We were met by Dave Stewart who showed us through the apartment. The apartment was very clean, was exceptionally fitted out and had wonderful views down the Royal Mile. The entrance and stairway is very grand and gives the feeling you are staying in a upmarket hotel. The apartment was exactly as the photos showed on the website. The location is fantastic and I doubt you will get a better location for an apartment for a stay in Edinburgh. If there was a negative it was probably the noise from street level at night and the amount of stairs to climb. But this was only a minor issue. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to stay in an apartment in Edinburgh.
“A Fine Fringe Experience”
Glenn and Dave did an excellent job in making my wife and my recent Edinburgh trip agreat success. I have stayed previously at a couple of the Edinburgh Self Catreing properties and it had gone well. It has been a few years since those experiences. The diligence of the group allowed me to experience a couple of the Parliament Square properties and they did not let me down. Other than the 4 story walk up and down (no lift) my stay at Parliament Square was flawless.
