“Perfectly Located Retreat in Southern France”
Just returned from 2 weeks at Nicola's wonderful 3-bedroom apartment in the quirky but charming historic part of Menton's old town. It was a mere 5 min walk to the boutiques, cafes, restaurants and activities of Rue St. Michel and ave Faure - the main pedestrian shopping and people-watching streets. Close proximity to great restaurants (including 2 that Nicola recommended right downstairs) and to the seafront promenade. Views from the living room and bedrooms onto the beach and harbor were inspirational every morning! The suite is well furnished and very functional plus has some cool historic elements as well. Wifi service was dodgy. However Marie was very helpful - and helped us enjoy the local colourful Fete du Citron. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
There is nothing but Good to say about this place ! It is a beautiful location , interesting architecture all around . the apartment was large and spacious , great kitchen and large bathroom. You want to stay here ! Nicola was more than hospitable and any problems that arouse in our planning were accommodated easily . this place is a find John Holstein
“Great location & wonderful property. Perfect weather”
The living room is large & comfortable with views from that living room of the sea, beach & hills to die for. If you threw a stone from the living room window you'd almost hit the water it's that close. Same with the main bedroom, fabulous views. The photos shown here are accurate. Kitchen's a bit small but fine for our needs as we ate out a lot in the many local restaurants. The shower needs replacing as it's old & tiny, but I believe the owner is doing some fixing up. Very secure property. 2 minutes walk & you're in the centre of town. The town of Menton is a bit of an older persons resort, but by train ( very close to town centre ) you can be in Monaco in 10 minutes. Nice in 35 minutes & Cannes in an hour. And Italy is a 5 minute walk away, what more could you want? Highly recommended indeed. The Irish property owner is a very helpful person also.
We stayed here for a week at the beginning of July, and had the best time! The apartment is beautifully situated, overlooking the beach (the picture shown above is your view from the master bedroom, living room and third bedroom!) but with the entrance on a quite narrow charming street. Everything is convenient to this location, the beach, wonderful local markets, restaurants and more. If you want to take a day trip, the bus and trains stations are within walking distance. We hopped a train to Italy for lunch one day (a very short ride!, and took the bus to various local scenic attractions (like Saint agnes, a gorgeous hilltop village) and restaurants. The Promenade Le Corbusier, a walk along the sea from Menton to Monaco is lovely. You do not need a car staying here, which makes it all the more relaxing. I won't go into detail about the physical layout as other reviews have already done so, but the outdoor terrace over the narrow road is a treat, fun to watch passers-by from above and the only one on the street! The owner, Nicole, could not have been better to deal with. She gave us info on the area, suggestions on restaurants, and gave us advice on how to get there from the airport in Nice. All in all, an outrageously fun experience!
“Lovely and unique apartment right opposite the beach”
We wanted a nice, well appointed apartment right on the beach in the Cote d'Azur that was easy to get to and we weren't disappointed with this choice. We had a week here and both parents and (grown-up) children enjoyed the location and the apartment. It has everything if you are looking for a luxury well appointed apartment that's right in the middle of town with everything close by and across the road from the beach. The apartment is very well spec'ed and nicely furnished and has a unique location in Menton opposite the beach and very close to all the restaurants and nightlife. We chose to get the bus from Nice airport direct to Menton and then its a 30 minute walk. Parking and a car in Menton would be difficult but not impossible, but we chose not to for the week. It has a unique balcony that spans a small cobbled street and its the only balcony in the whole street. So you can sit out while people wander to and fro below you. Would thoroughly recommend it and the owners were very easy to deal with. We would stay here again.
“Excellent apartment in a great location”
It's hard to believe you could find a better location in Menton, which is a delightful town. The apartment is situated in a quiet pedestrianised street just above the harbour, with superb views towards the Italian border. Within three or four minutes' walk of the apartment there are probably 20 or more restaurants, plenty of shops, the excellent covered food market, the best beach in Menton, the harbour and the Cocteau museum. Both Menton and Menton Garavan railway stations, with good links to Monte Carlo, Nice and Italy, are a brisk 15-minute walk away, as is a good bus service. If you are bringing heavy luggage you might find access to the apartment a little demanding (because it's a pedestrianised street you can't be dropped off immediately outside the entrance), but once you're there it's a delight. The living room/dining room is large, comfortable and airy and the kitchen is superbly equipped. Our only problem was that the gas boiler wasn't working when we arrived, but Marie Laure, who looks after the apartment for Nicola, had it fixed within a few hours. One of the many plus points of the apartment is that it was well stocked with everything you would need like cleaning materials, cooking oil, spices etc. All that Nicola asks is that you replace anything that runs out. Leaving a full fruit bowl plus a loaf of bread, milk, water etc was also a very nice touch. Two bedrooms are at the front, with great views over the harbour, and one at the back, looking over the pedestrianised street. The bathroom is very good, with a shower and bath. Plenty of sheets and towels are provided. One delightful aspect of the apartment is a terrace at the back, which is actually on a bridge over the pedestrianised street. It's the only one in the whole street and is a great place to sit out on warm evenings. Can't speak highly enough of Nicola and Marie Laure, who both do everything to make their guests very welcome. A superb apartment with very welcoming hosts.
“Home from home with a view to die for.”
The apartment is just like your home, but in the most sort after locashion in Menton. We traveled with our 1 year old and our 14 year old, and can only describe this holiday rental as perfect. Space for all the family to have there own bedroom with windows that over look the beach a kitchen nothing less than like ours at home with everything you could need to make breakfast or evening meal. A great plus for us also was a little balcony to sit on and relax when the kids had gone to bed. We didn't eat in at night as this is just off the main road full of shops and restaurants and found it not expensive to take the family out to dine. All in all we love this apartment and can't wait to come back.
“Serene holiday spot”
Great spot with short walk to cafes and beach. Apartment was very spacious and clean. View could not get any better. Loved it. Great restaurants in 5 minute walk. Short drive to Italian border and Monaco.
“A truly wonderful experience with views you can only dream of ..”
Look no further than this. We stayed in menton, France for one week in June 2012, wow what a charming place, the apartment has a true sense of luxury to it and is practically on the beach, our room was the double bedroom at the front with a luxury sleigh bed,it overlooks the beautiful beach and is a dream to wake up in.the living room also overlooks the beach, i included some photos too, you could sit there and just watch the world go by. The kitchen in the apartment was self contained with everything we needed, includes washing machine, large fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher etc ,it also has a charming little terrace , the perfect place for an evening drink.there is also another double bedroom at the back again in pristine luxury and a third bedroom with two single beds. The location is perfect, you can reach the beach with a stones throw and ample amount of shopping , bars and restaurants in menton itself, there is even a casino there . The famous Monaco is only a short train ride of about 10 mins away, while the beautiful city of nice is also not far on the train, i think 40 mins, we went west to Italy on the train and did our shopping at the markets of San Remo..bargains galore .i would not hesitate in recommending a Holiday here in this luxury apartment .
“Simply amazing with awesome setting, & Everything to make a per”
The apartment in the historical Old Town setting of Menton was breathtakingly beautiful, and conveniently placed directly opposite a glorious beach with safe swimming. Every amenity is close by with the Most wonderful Restaurants (Italian & French) Fresh Food Markets and everything one could possibly want to enjoy one of the most relaxing and enjoyable holidays.
