“Great Value& Wonderful Island Location”
This was a great place to stay for the money, my Wife, two little dogs and myself enjoyed it. Just a block from the beach, centrally located on the island and everything we needed for our stay. If you are looking for luxury & amenities then this is not the place for you. The old addage is true...you get what you pay for. Thank you Charles!
“Very disappointing, uncomfortable, lacking in esthetics and many basics, dog people particularly, vacationer, caveat emp”
Backyard is completely overgrown with sharp multi-prong stickers. Very bad for dog feet and fur. Had to pull two ticks off my husband. Cockroaches in unit. Very uncomfortable for us. Two wooden chairs, two hard dinette chairs. Two metal folding chairs in closet. Futon also very uncomfortable to sit on. No esthetics. Lacking in many basics and basic decor. Did not meet our expectations or hopes. TV not working upon our arrival. Two days to replace. Manual buttons not working. Two more to replace remote. Inadequate, mismatched kitchen supplies. Everything had goodwill store feel, appearance and quality, including broken coffee pot lid and broken umbrella. Rust in and on fridge. Flat, not fitted, double sheets on a queen sized mattress. Mattress old and squeaks. Twin size mattress pad on half of bed. Short hotel towels. Coin operated clothes washer. Inadequate tables, shade and lounges at poolside. Ruined our vacation. Had to leave early. Couldn't live with those conditions. Sadly, this was our worst vacation place ever.
Response from the owner Wow! Where to start. We would like to go through this review line by line and refute all the claims made, but don't really see the point as most of the problems could have been dealt with quickly and easily. The TV in this condo had quit working. We would have had it replaced by check in time on the day these guests arrived, but they showed up early. That left them without a television for approximately two HOURS not two days! Of course, there was a perfectly good tv in the vacant room next door, and we would have been happy to move it to their room, had mentioned it. We DO NOT have pests in the condos. We use Terminix and when there is a problem, they come right back and renew their treatment. We are not surprised that you found ticks. They no doubt came from the big, smelly, old dogs that you brought with you. Which, by the way, are NOT allowed in the swimming pool. Because of their thick fur, which can clog skimmers and filters, dogs have something like 40 times the bacteria on them than what a human has. There was rust on the fridge. That was fixed quite easily with some sand paper and a can of spray paint. We may have had the wrong sheet on the bed, and that would have taken only minutes to remedy. There are stickers in the back yard. While we do appreciate your (emailed) suggestion to rip up the lawn and re-sod it, we have found it more practical to pull them every time we prepare to mow the lawn and have the problem well in hand now. Of the four units at our Oleander Beach Lodge, we feel that this one suits our family of four the best, and plan to stay here ourselves as soon as it is available for a few nights. Most importantly, we are happy to try to make your stay as pleasant as possible and are happy to take care of any issues you find with the condo when you point them out to us. Please do not cut your vacation short and go home crying because you "can't live with those conditions" without even mentioning one thing to us that you would like us to address.
