“Sea front in quiet Sicilian village”
Pros: Good info and support from owners, good location with large balcony facing the ocean, nice quiet village for a relaxing holiday, interesting places to visit a short drive away Cons: a couple of nice laid back bars, snack bars and pizzerias in the village but no proper restaurants, beach not suited for younger kids, car is a must
Response from the owner Hi Peter, thanks for review - great to hear that you and your wife enjoyed the place! Just posting here an update with developments since 2012: - we now include a list of local restaurants as part of our welcome pack; our favorite restaurants in Sant'Alessio include Accabbanna, O'Geusu and Trocadero - all within 3-10 min walk! - we now include local bus and train timetables, as well as a local map with bus stops as part of our welcome pack; there are regular busses and trains to Taormina, Catania and Messina several times an hour depending on the season. Public transport is not very reliable in Sicily so we recommend a car in order to see more of our beautiful island. There is free parking space in front of the house. - the free beach in front of the house is very clean, with transparent water that gains depth quickly, making it ideal for swimming; we regularly host families with children all of whom love the sea; if you vacation with toddlers please do not leave them alone outdoors at any time. There are a couple of hotels with private beaches in immediate vicinity and it's possible to use their beach with life guard for additional fee.
“a dream come true”
I had many plans for my trip to Sicily, but as soon as I set step into this apartment, I didn't want to go anywhere else. It's a beautiful, clean, calming sea-side escape. My favorite was getting fresh fish from the docks in the nearby store and cooking it to eat on the spacious, beautiful terrace. I loved walking to the bakery/cafe along the waterfront and getting coffee and some of the best pastries I've ever tasted (I can still imagine the taste!). Every morning and evening I'd go for a dip in the refreshing, clear sea. It was perfect to live in this apartment, in the beautiful small village of Sant' Alessio Siculo that has so much of the charm, the history, and the beauty of the Sicilian coast. It was also easy to explore other Sicily sights, via some of the bus tours that stop in town, and buses that go to Taormina proper. I recommended this stay to my friends and family, and recommend it to all travelers who love themselves some joie de vivre!
“Sant'Alessio - Five Stars!”
In March of this year, my partner and I took a relaxing mini-break to Sicily. A colleague recommended us this apartment in Sant alessio, and I'm truly delighted with our stay. To say the place was pleasant would be an understatement. Fully fitted modern kitchen, excellent standard of comfort throughout the property, lovely beds, plenty of space, and a general feeling of luxury made our mini-break feel like a honeymoon. Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing in on the shore (and not the sound of motorbike engines, like many other places on busier roads), walking on the beach and grabbing a local Granita, or dining in some excellent restaurants only a short week nearby.. After warm sunny days of hiking, driving, and walking across the island, our favourite activity was enjoying a glass of Sicilian wine on the apartment's generous terrace. Affording excellent views over the whole bay, and with the sea literally metres away and the sky gradually turning red with the sunset, there are few better ways to spend an evening. Even in March, the weather was great. The hosts really opened their hearts to us, treating us to some of the best organges and tomatoes I have ever had in my entire life - and, occassionally, some freshly baked bread and home made olive oil. upon our invitation, they have joined us for dinner once, and gave us invaluable tips for places to visit, which we would have never found otherwise. it was difficult not to be charmed by the place. We'll be back - and soon, definitely!
“Great stay for 2 weeks in July 2013”
We had a great stay in this beach home. It was great for our family of 4, 2 adult and 2 boys aged 8 and 4.
