Description

This picturesque country cottage is nestled on 300 feet of very private forested frontage on Lake Horace, a pristine lake in the heart of the Piscataquoge water shed near the town of Weare.

Enveloped in the charming ambiance of southern yellow pine, the cottage is rustic, secluded, cozy and comfortable. It has a fully equipped open concept kitchen with a brand new stainless steel refrigerator and gas stove. And the great room has a vaulted ceiling and a large stone fireplace with plenty of firewood. If you want to split kindling you can bring an axe. You'll have a bathroom and two cozy open ceiling bedrooms - a master with full bed and guest with two twins. The cottage also features a screened porch, deck with grill, tools and propane and your own dock and rowboat just yards away. The couch in the great room is a high-riser, in case you require more sleeping room, and a folding cot and crib are available.

The dock, with steps into the water, is ideal for swimming and fishing or you may want to take a short walk to HI - POINT, our own peninsula beach, which we share with just six neighbors. You can also row to the beach and tie up at the diving dock.

To really help you relax and "get away from it all", you'll have only a radio/cd player and no house phone, mail, internet or TV to interfere with the call of the loons. But, food shopping and newspapers are just a short drive, along with fine restaurants, golf and orchards. You'll find information about them, hiking, fishing and local attractions on the coffe table in front of the hearth . Towels and bed linens are not supplied, but you'll have plenty of blankets and pillows. If you use the rowboat, you should be aware that vest type life jackets for each person are required by law. Fisherpersons must purchase a fishing license, available at the Henniker Pharmacy and several other local shops. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to catch a huge Lake Horace largemouth bass, smallmouth, pickerel, perch, crappie or trout!

Our cabin is not just any rental. It is a bucolic home for couples, kids and parents to get to know each other and to appreciate nature in peace and quiet. It is meant for just that purpose, like enjoying breakfast on the deck and sunset dinners at your waterside picnic table.

NOTES:

US Coast Guard approved life jackets for each passenger must be in the boat.

All rentals are during summer only, one week minimum, Saturday to Saturday.

The cottage is professionally cleaned between renters, but daily housekeeping and personal supplies are the guest's responsibility. Refuse is collected once a week by our caretaker, usually on Friday or Saturday.

TRIPADVISOR rates INCLUDE booking fee. FLIPKEY rates EXCLUDE booking fee.

Rate excludes 9% New Hampshire Rooms and Meals tax. There will be no refunds, except for the $300 refundable security/damage deposit, unless the cottage is re-rented for the cancelled period.
