Description from owner

Description

Atholl Place is a listed Georgian crescent situated in the centre of Perth. It is fabulously located overlooking the North Inch park and River Tay. The Concert Hall, shops and restaurants of Perth are just a few minutes walk away. There are two reserved parking spaces on Atholl Place itself for exclusive use of our guests.

The house was built in 1797 during the reign of George III whilst Perth was leading the way in Scottish architecture.

The house was completely restored to its former glory in 2012 and now contains all modern conveniences, whilst still retaining its original period features. It has 4,500 square feet of living space over four floors.

There are six bedrooms, three bathrooms and an additional cloakroom. Sit down with the newspapers in the formal drawing room, check your emails in the study, settle down in front of TV in the family room or soak up the evening sun in the garden room. For those who prefer more energetic activities, try your hand at pool or table tennis. The large fitted kitchen leads directly into the dining room with ample seating for 12. A separate utility area has a washing machine and dryer.

The family room has comfortable leather sofas and a flatscreen LED TV with Freeview channels. There is a DVD player, ipod docking station, DAB radio and a small library of books. The double aspect windows look directly across the North Inch and River Tay. The traditional drawing room offers an alternative to the family room, with a flatscreen LED TV with Freeview channels and bluetooth speakers. It also features a fully restored and working dumb waiter. The garden room on the ground floor is another area to sit and relax in, leading out onto the fully enclosed walled garden, with a patio, lawn, established trees and shrubs.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a Range oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and wine fridge. As it leads directly onto the dining room, the open plan area provides the perfect place for everyone to gather together to enjoy dinner.

The 6 bedrooms are all of a good size, comprising of 2 kingsize, 1 double and 3 twin. The bathrooms have all been completely refurbished, featuring power showers and separate baths. The master bedroom has a separate dressing room leading onto a stunning en-suite bathroom with claw foot bath and walk- in shower.

The spacious living space is an ideal gathering place for either family holidays, special occasions or a group of friends looking to catch up. It is easily accessible from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee airports. The house's central Scottish location means that it is the perfect base to explore all that Perthshire and the surrounding area has to offer.

Getting around

The centre of Perth is an easy walk from the house - the high street is just a couple of minutes away. We recommend a car if you plan to explore the surrounding area but it is not essential. Perth train station, which is just a 10-15 minute walk from the house, is well served by all the major Scottish cities. There are direct trains through to London and connections in either Edinburgh or Glasgow to many other destinations. For local travel there is a bus stop directly outside the house.

“Family get together.”

Another excellent stay in this beautiful house. We need the whole house of 12 bed spaces. Very relaxed weekend, as last time we stayed. Short distance from town centre.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We're grateful also for your comments about the things that weren't quite perfect. We've asked our cleaners to pay particular attention to the cobwebs and we've also done a thorough check of what is provided in the kitchen. We noticed that several of the pans were placed in different cupboards which may be why they were all hard to find. We've also done a thorough check of all the showers and hot water to make sure everything is working as it should.

I would like to thank Nick&Sara, this property was magnificent in many ways. It has a very state home features made us all feel like statesman and yet retained the home away from home feel. The amount of space was unbelievable l especially loved some of the utensils in the kitchen Sara very original and the second living room with many books to delve into. I will certainly be booking with you again as it was too short a visit but from my all our family this is a hidden gem.

“Returned for the second time due to our love of the place!”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2016

This house is awesome! It has absolutely everything you need in a house from the 2 large living rooms to pool room and ping pong! The kitchen is open plan with the dining area and there are ample seats for everyone and great for a night in. The sound proofing is also a BIG plus in this house and you can't hear anything for those who have early risers or late nights, your other guests won't be disturbed by you. I cannot recommend this property enough and with such close access to the town centre as well as being able to walk not too far up the hill or along the river, it really has got everything going for it. Beautiful views over the park and a nice big garden at the back. we stayed in November (twice) and the property is lovely and warm with plenty of hot water too. A class.
