“A marvellous place, wonderful hospitality”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2015

We enjoyed ten days in the Pool apt. Very well equipped and organized. We did not miss anthong! Garden is beautiful, enjoyed sunbathing by the pool, when not mountainhiking. Very peaceful and quiet. And Charlie played a big part of the friendly atmosphere! We will love to bring family and friends back there.

Response from the owner Dear Marianne & Gunnar, It is so uplifting for us to have such appreciative guests like you. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. Hope to see you here again in the near future. Love from the 3 of us xxx

“Comfortable and relaxing”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2015

We spent a wonderful week at Villa Tranquilla. The apartment is bright, well equipped and spacious. The bed is really comfortable and I am sure the pool would have been lovely to use in summer time. The view on the Mediterranean sea is breathtaking. The apartment is located on ground level and just outside the door is a big secluded yard waiting for you to go and enjoy the outside, which is rare when you rent an apartment. The host was really informative about the town and the area in general. We really liked their dog Charlie who came to visit a few times. The apartment is located outside of the centre of Estepona but yet close of everything like grocery store, gas station and restaurants. A car is a must for this location. We would definitively come back to this place and we highly recommend it. Perfect base for day trips of southern Andalucía.

“For a relaxing, adventurous and picturesque escape stay at Villa Tranquila”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2014

As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by Neville, Lynne and Charlie. I was given a tour of the grounds and realized I've chosen the right place for my escape. I stayed at "The Pool" apartment. It was immaculate! The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and more. The glass sliding doors opened to a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. Every now and then you would see the sail boats. It was a terrific way to start your day. The Villa itself is well maintained and has a lovely landscape. It felt very secure and comfortable. It is geographically situated in the perfect town (Estepona). You have Gibraltar around 40 mins away, Marbella and Puerto Banus around a 30 mins drive and Malaga about an 1 hr away. Or, you could just walk to the beach. I would definitely recommend a car. This is something I was debating and am glad I listened to Neville. If you would rather go on tours, the bus for one of the tour companies picks you up right within walking distance to the Villa and drops you off at the same place. Needless to say, I would definitely stay their again. See you soon!

“Villa Tranquilla "the place" on the Spanish South Coast”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2014

We stayed at Villa Tranquilla in the pool apartment, which is a beautiful, and large apartment overlooking the sea from the hillside right outside Estepona. We were presented with a bottle of wine and some other necessities on arrival and were given a very good first introduction to the facilities and the area. Neville and Lynne are perfect hosts and understand the balance between providing service and advice and on the other hand being discreet. The apartment is very clean and a great hideaway and very quiet. The terrace is wonderful and there is a large sliding glass door making the terrace an integrated part of the apartment. The kitchen is very well equipped and we did not miss anything during our 7 days stay. There are two super markets 2 minutes drive from the villa one discount store and a store with a large selection of meat and fresh Mediterranean fish. Neville is able to make some great recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area for both families with children and adults. Estepona is situated in “the middle” of the coast and is a good starting point for exploring the surroundings. We can recommend the small white villages in the mountains, Estepona old town, Ronda and definitely Gibraltar. If you visit Estepona old town Neville will provide you with a “home made walking guide” taking you through all the nice small corners of the old centre of the city. Right below the villa in walking distance are two good restaurants; Swing and La Menorah. Both restaurants are not situated in the most idyllic surroundings, next to a busy road, but the food is great. La Menorah is represented in the Michelin Guide and a little pricy but it is defiantly worth spending the extra Euro. I have written a review of La Menorah in the Michelin Guide and on Trip Advisor. Whenever we go back to the South Coast of Spain we will stay with Neville and Lynn in Villa Tranquilla. Kind regards Alvin A. Bang

“Villa Tranquilla: aptly named.”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2013

We stayed in the 'pool' suite, which includes a large kitchen area, dining area, living area and bedroom with ensuite - all very roomy and well appointed. The most enjoyable part of the flat is the patio overlooking the pool, with a fine view of the distant Mediterranean. It is a good distance from the highway, so there was no traffic noise. We were delighted by the constant smell of the flowering shrubs that fill the area.

“What a wonderful place !”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

We are just back from villa Tranquilla in Estepona and we had a great time. We both arrived realy tired, and we left refreshed and happy( well not so happy to be leaving !), thanks to Neville and Lynne's wonderful villa and welcome. This couple go out of their way to make sure that you are having a good time. The apartment itself was absolutely beautiful, spacious, and the little starter pack of first necessities was really appreciated. Estepona is a lovely town, not too crowded, and with lots of nice restaurants and bars to try. It is very well situated for visiting the area. We loved everything about the town and the villa. We will certainly be back, and won't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. Thank you Neville and Lynne for this wonderful holiday. Oh! I nearly forgot to mention Charly ! We really enjoyed his company as well. He is a lovely dog.

“a tranquil stay with a view”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2013

We stayed at Villa Tranquilla for 28 days. We enjoyed. Living away from home at home. It is one vast beautiful villa on the slope of a hill overlooking the sea. Quiet - tranquil - surroundings. No traffic. And yet beach and supermarkets within walking distance. Old Estepona - one of the least crowded villages on the costa del sol - a 5 minutes drive by car. The owners - Neville and Lynne - live in the upper part. Three other independent apartments in the building are for rent. We stayed in the pool apartment. Clean light and tasteful. Large covered terrace with perfect views over pool and garden. Big ships in the distance. Birds in the sky. Waving palm trees in the wind. A marvellous garden, separated from street and neighbourhood by green hedges, trees and bushes. The jasmine was smelling very pleasantly. The apartment consisted of two very spacious rooms. One big bedroom with plenty of cupboard space. One with kitchen and living area. All very well equipped. Everything you could possibly need was there in fine condition. Very comfortable. Gas-barbecue and Wi-fi too. Communal facilities: pool, washing machine, ping-pong table. Easy to park your car, out on the street. Good starting point for all kind of trips. Neville and Lynne - very friendly and outgoing hosts, not in any way pushy or obtrusive - were like the neighbours you allways would have wanted. They are able and willing to tell you a lot about everything you would want to know f.i. places to visit, where to eat, what to .. and how to... Or even show you the way to the dentist or whatever facility or service you could need. We saw Neville most and had many a good laugh. He has become a friend to us.

“Beautiful view and surroundings, also very peaceful and relaxing”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2013

Our stay in Estepona at Neville and Lynne's place was absolutely lovely. The only thing that could have been better was the weather, and if Neville could have arranged for perfect weather he would have. He and Lynn are perfect host going out of their way to make your stay a good one. The place was very clean with comfortable beds, fantastic views of the Sea, and beautiful gardens. They really have tried to think of all of your needs while staying here.

Response from the owner Dear Mary Kaye, Thanks so much for your review. Because you had not the best weather, if you ever return, we will give you a free day. Keep well & happy. Neville, Lynne & Charlie xXx

“keep distance of the grey November in middle Europ (Germany)”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2012

our hopes in catching a lot of sun were fulfilled as well as the conditions we found at the pool app. in villa tranquilla. There was a maximum of conformaton to the announced items whichis not normal. (as a 73 yaers old person ,with a many years of experiance in holdays, ,i am able to valuate this. Also Nevill was always readY to help if necessary. The Garden area arond the apartments is very proper and due to the large ground , we always found a place in the sun even at end of Nov./beg. Dec. The apartm. with 60 square meters for two roomes was comfortable and clean, and nothing was left.

Response from the owner Dear Ebi, Thank you so much for your kind & complimentary review. It was such a pleasure having you & Hilde to stay. Best wishes, Neville, Lynne & Charlie

“Vacations in Spain”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2012

Thank you very much for the good time we had at the villa Tranquilla. Our Pool apartment was fully equipped, very clean and tastefully decorated. Cold drinks (water, vine, beer and milk) that you thoughtfully prepared on the day of our arrival was a definitely going an extra mile on your part and was very mush appreciated by us. Thanks for all your recommendations where to go, what places to see, for your hand written maps that were very helpful especially on the the way to the airport at 5:00 in the morning in complete darkness. We enjoyed every moment we spent on villa and even not heated pool was pleasantly refreshing. We would definitely recommend to all our friends as well as might be back again. Thanks for everything, L&L;.
