“Wonderful - heading back next year”
We stayed at the Rousillon Farmhouse this summer and loved it. As a large family we go away once every two years 'en masse' and finding somewhere that can accommodate 18/ 19 considerably limits your choice. However these properties meant we didn't have any lowering of standards. The rooms were all very well appointed, clean and looked as though they had recently been refitted in kitchens and bathrooms. As a group we took the Farmhouse & Mas d'en Port. Both had great pools with the farmhouse garden slightly smaller but still more than comfortable with a great terrace for family dining every night & an outside fridge (great for cold beer or wine!). Pools both alarmed especially important with toddlers and kids of 5-7 in the group. We tended to eat together but catering for nearly 20 wasn't a problem, plenty of kit and excellent facilities. The limit on electricity wasn't a problem and we've experienced elsewhere - we found putting the air con on for a short period before going to bed was sufficient, no point leaving it on all day/ night. The owners' handyman was very helpful & informative about local tips and places to go. Also very responsive when needed for maintenance. Cannot fathom the negative feedback left as we were the subsequent occupants. No problems with wifi, dont go on holiday to watch foreign tv but the kids used the equipment for films. Had no problems with security though perhaps we're more vigilant. All in all a wonderful stay, so much so we're booking up for next year. Only negative - a period of uncharacteristic weather in the form of a couple of thunderstorms but in the usual southern France way everything would dry out straight away. Beach at Le Racou is a must as is a trip over the border to Rosas (Spain) for a lovely shallow beach for the kids. Collioure very pretty (busy too) also Ceret up in the hills.
Response from the owner Thank you for your review and detailed account of your family holiday spent at our two adjacent, principle properties – RoussillonFarmhouse and Mas D’en Porte in Aug 2014. We were pleased to hear that your family group of 19 people, ranging in age from 2 and 72 all had a wonderful time and have already booked for 2015. It was pleasing to know that you considered both houses were well equipped to cater and accommodate for your extended family – the key features being the designer kitchen, the extensive terrace for communal meals and number of bathrooms etc. As you say, we have not experienced any issues with WiFi and / or SAT TV previously and note that you were able to use them without a hiccup. Thank you for commenting on our housekeeper who was able to provide you with local advice and tips. Our favourite beach is also Le Racou (near Argeles-Sur-Mer – 15mins) and if we were heading to Spain, we would also visit Rosas as a first choice (about 50mins – the best of both worlds..! We look forward to welcoming you again in 2015. Best wishes Paul & Annette
“Stunning Roussillon Farmhouse”
We had a wonderful time on our recent family holiday in Villlelongue dels Monts. Made all the more special staying in the stunning Roussillon Farmhouse. The property has heaps of character beautifully renovated to the highest standard. There is ample space for 10 guests, and a fully equipped kitchen with all mod cons. The pool garden and terrace are totally secluded and private with fantastic views, All in all the farmhouse certainly exceeded our expectations.
Response from the owner Hi Julie - thank you for your feedback and we are pleased to hear that you all had a wonderful holiday. We are fortunate that the property dates back to the 1800's providing it with lots of character. It has been in our family since 1982 and we have renovated it several times to ensure today's highest standards. We and other previous guests also enjoy the private, secluded location and fantastic Mediterranean and Mountain views. Dreaming to be back soon...! Best wishes Paul & Annette
“Just the ticket!”
A couple of turns off the motorway, one hour from Girona, and the farmhouse was just like the pictures, only hot and sunny when we arrived. The two upstairs bedrooms at the front share stunning views and the other bedrooms at the back and downstairs are spacious and comfortable. The super kitchen is very well appointed and has sufficient equipment for breakfasts or banquets and the outside terrace is great to eat, relax, soak up the sun and watch the moon later on.No need to get up early for the sun beds - there's plenty - shade if you want it and a good sized pool to relax in.The little village has a shop with adequate supplies,a nice resturant with an interesting menu and a couple of bars - so just be aware it is quiet.A good supermarket is 15mins away.Lots of little villages in the area with good quality resturants and the coast is not to far away.A little research will find some interesting walks such as the one up the valley at Ville(?). We didn't need the TV but it is adviseable to read the owners handbook prior to packing your bags should you not want to miss your soaps! Seven of us were spending the kid's inheritance and found it just the ticket.
Response from the owner Hi Stewart - thank you for your very eloquent summary of your trip, holiday and descriptive experience whilst staying at RoussillonFarmhouse. You and many others have commented on the features of the property - such as the Med and Mountain views from both the bedrooms and the alfresco terrace - where you can sit all day gazing into the distance, whilst at night watching the stars. Just wish we were there more often too...! Hope to be able to welcome you back at some stage.
“lovely summer holiday”
We had a lovely week at the Farmhouse. I was pleased i chose the house with the lovely terrace. The house is spacious and well equipped. the location is lovely and an easy 10 min walk into the village. Our group enjoyed lovely cycle rides in the area, pizzas and a very welcoming little supermarket in the village. Although I could never quite make the hill back up to the house on my bike. Building work nearby really didn't bother us although it might take some of the view when its finished.
Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review and glad to hear that you all had a wonderful time and found the Farmhouse to be spacious, well equipped; and you were able to make good use of the alfresco terrace, enabling you to relax and admire the views. Thankfully the building work is almost finished and is expected to blend in with the rest of the rural landscape and scenery - whilst still maintaining Mediterranean and Mountain views. Thanks for supporting the village restaurants and shops - hopefully you had the opportunity to practice your French..!
