“Tropical Delight”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

From the moment I walked into Chateau Monroe relaxation began. It is so beautiful and tropical with its graceful arches, high ceilings, open windows and ocean breezes. I loved the spacious rooms, and the deck/porches with million dollar views of the islands and cruise activity in the harbor below. The porches and balconies provided additional space to dine and relax in the sun. When you need a break from the sun, the roll out awning provided shade without obstructing the magnificent views. The chaises are so comfortable I fell asleep listening to a gentle rain on the awning! Golf carts are available for the beach, but I occasionally preferred the 15 minute walk to the beach so I could take in more of the views from Water Island, especially the beach view of Limestone Beach, a rocky wild beach front to the ocean. On Honeymoon Beach, we snorkeled and daily saw sea turtles. Paddleboards and kayaks were available to rent for a reasonable price ($35/hour). The water is so clear and calm, paddle boarding was easy even for a beginner. The kitchen is well stocked with every thing we needed for food preparations. Two grocery stores are within a short distance from the ferry dock on St. Thomas. You will need to take reusable grocery sacks (provided)for your shopping. That was a fun experience for me. The bathrooms are large with a beautiful tiled walk in showers on both levels. The solar heated showers are very hot! The sense of spaciousness and privacy really made this villa feel like our tropical home away from home. This is ideal for a romantic honeymoon or a luxurious tropical get away. The sun and beauty of Water Island and the villa healed our winter weary souls.

“Great Escape”

Reviewed 18 Feb 2014

The views from this quiet retreat are amazing! My wife and I loved staying here. The taxi service to St. Thomas is easy to navigate for days where you want to see the sights or take a day trip, but Honeymoon Beach and Heidi's dinner on the beach can't be beat! Watching the cruise ships roll in and out so close to you is something you won't see anywhere else on the island. Brad and Colette are great hosts, and they know all the best places to go. We will be back!

“Had a wonderful time”

Reviewed 11 Feb 2014

Stayed in this beautiful home on Water Island in april 2013. Spent many relaxing days on Honeymoon Beach reading, swimming and just enjoying the pure beauty of the island. The water taxi service to St Thomas was convenient. The view is magnificent & watching the sunsets truly spectacular. I can't wait to return.

“The best vacation ever!”

Reviewed 5 Feb 2014

My wife and I enjoyed 8 luxurious nights here celebrating our 10 year anniversary in November 2013! We quickly learned how to navigate beautiful Water Island. We loved seeing the old bunkers from World War II. The golf cart ride to Honeymoon Beach was barely five minutes. Eating at Hiedi's on the beach was reasonably priced and delicious. Taking the Water Island ferry to St. Thomas was simple and we enjoyed many days of sightseeing and shopping in the markets. The people of St. Thomas are friendly and more than willing to help you with taxis, directions, advice on great places to eat--anything you need. The views from the balconies are breathtaking as you view numerous cruise ships silently sail into port daily. Usually 3-5 cruise ships sail into St. Thomas daily. You may feel guilty watching them leave as you get to stay to enjoy more time. The villa was the finest we have ever stayed in. It is beautifully crafted down to the finest details. It is so clean and well furnished, with plenty of privacy. Some days you may want to stay home and others go out and explore the beauty of the Usvi. We chose to book a day trip to the Baths in Virgin Gorda and explored the gorgeous blue waters crashing in tunnels and caves. If you do this make sure you take your Passport since it is apart of the BVI (British Virgin Islands) Be sure to spend some time on the snorkeling excursion on one of the many islands with Jimmy Jones. He was great, taking us all around the Caribbean and allowing us to take in the beauty under water. One particular island has the atlantic ocean roaring on the northern side and the calm Caribbean on the southern side. Incredible! This place is simply beautiful and without a doubt the best vacation we have ever experienced. We will be back soon!

“Beautiful views and quiet surroundings in the Caribbean”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2014

This villa comes with breathtaking views. Only minutes from Honeymoon Beach which offers a variety of food and drink at reasonable prices. Historical WW2 sites easily accessible by road. The ferry to St. Thomas is within minutes too! On our last visit , we never left Water Island. Eating on the beach saturday night at Heidi's was an unforgettable experience. The islanders are friendly and there are miles of roads to walk, jog, or explore by golf cart. The villa is beautiful and quite comfortable.

Response from the owner We are so happy you have written this kind review for Chateau Monroe. Our goal is to make your visit as comfortable as we possibly can. This year we have added a "smart" flat screen TV to the entertainment center so you can enjoy movies and documentaries in your "off" time. Thanks for the provisioning list, we'll have it all ready for your visit later this month. Looking at your weather and I have to say, you will be ready for us too!!
