The Villa is situated on a well-maintained, securely gated property 3 miles from town, encompassing orchards, duck ponds, an infinity pool, and tons of wildlife. There is fantastic birding from the Penthouse Suite, and it is typical to witness a passing flock of White Fronted Parrot and Parakeet at eye level within 20 feet everyday.
Other daily viewing includes but not limited to: Wild Duck, Osprey, Hawk, Egret, Fly Catcher, Swallow, Groove-billed Ani, Tanager, Warbler, Manakin, Hummingbird, Woodpecker, Falcon, Owl and many more. Red-Lored, Toucan and Aracari can be seen weekly or when certain fruits and seeds are in season.
Because of the size of Avana Villa, also more affectionately known as the “Castle in the Tropics,” this 4-story, 5000 sq. ft. home has two individual apartments for rent. See other listing for Garden Suite.
This is a SOLAR -OPERATED house. The house is built it to be self-sustaining, environmentally friendly, and completely off grid. We ask guests to be mindful at all times of turning OFF lights if a room is not in use, or only having a fan on if you are sitting or sleeping underneath it. Unfortunately, the use of small appliances, such as hair dryers, is not allowed.
•The second story of the villa greets you with a 570 s.f. veranda, complete with an outdoor sitting and dining area.
•All suites are separately keyed and very private. Access to the Master and Penthouse Suites are made via the shared staircase on the second floor.
•3rd floor Mezzanine area with lots of books, games, DVDs, etc.
•Huge 54′ triangular infinity pool with palapa, sand beach, and hammocks.
•Gardens, duck ponds, orchard.
•Ample parking on the premises.

Our road is better than many around here, and we do not own a four-wheel drive commuter vehicle ourselves. The tour companies pick-up here regularly and we keep a list of taxi drivers. We have also replaced the old Hughesnet satellite internet provider with a wireless option which works very very well. Avana Villa has unlimited wifi available in every room.

If Murray and Martha (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
