The cottage has been renovated from an agricultural outbuilding and is designed for 2 people with comfortable self catering accommodation. There is a living room, with well equipped kitchen, spacious double bedroom and shower room. Outside has private open and covered terraces with BBQ, garden furniture and also a lawn with stunning views which on a clear day, includes the Mediterranean which is about 12 miles away as the crow flies.

If you are looking for solace and tranquility and an unforgettable experience of Spanish mountain hospitality, from the delightful and charming villagers, then you have found the perfect retreat.

Lubrin Pueblo nestles high in the Sierra Los Filabres some 2000feet above the well known beach resorts of Mojacar and Garrucha which are just 45 minutes away. Lubrin is a small village of about 500 of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet. There are a number of Cafe/Bars that offer Tapas. Meson Molinos is a restaurant offering fine wines and a mouthwatering menu. Bar Lopez is located in Rambla Aljibe, which is one of the dozen or so hamlets in the Parish of Lubrin, where you can get a good wholesome 3 course Menu del Dias including wine for about 12 Euros

There are 3 Banks and the village shops include 2 Supermarkets, 3 Butchers, 3 Bakers (no Candlestick Makers!!) and an Ironmongers. You can buy anything from a pin to a Porsche( well not quite a Porsche). Market day is on a Wednesday when you can stock up with fresh fruit and vegetables on most days the fresh fish van comes up from the coast.

Life in Lubrin is a time warp and will remind us more senior citizens of an early childhood where family groups sit out on the streets on hot summer nights with children playing until the sun sets over the hill.

Lubrin is conveniently located for exploring Almeria with its diverse and dramatic landscapes, isolated villages and romantic beaches and coves. The Cabo de Gata National Terrestrial and Maritime Park is magical and many guests take the day trip to Granada to marvel at the wonderful Alhambra. or a local visit to our very own Moorish Alcazaba Fortress in Almeria city

We were a bit early for the pool but cottage was equipped with a log burner and was very cosy in the cooler evenings. We were well looked after and enjoyed our stay. Very peaceful.

Beautiful old farm house out building in wonderful location. Loved the stay - relaxing - time stood still in this old world small village. Lovely walks, lovely accommodation, lovely people , really did not want to leave. Loved the tapas and local wine. Accommodation wonderful location and well appointed.

Directions from Alicante were detailed and clear. We were greeted by John waving from the hilltop of Cortijo Fuente Arriba and over the next 10 days his & Mair's hospitality (never intrusive) & knowledge of Lubrin & the surrounding area were an important part of our holiday. We enjoyed two market days & coffees in the square of the pueblo (Lubrin) five minutes walk away where there are several friendly inexpensive eating places. Walking was our main activity with a number of great self-guided walks into the hills mapped out by John. Take good trainers or walking boots. Casita Musica was comfortable with adequate provision for self-catering & a slightly eccentric shower which on acquaintance was fine. The swimming pool was very welcome & the evenings spent watching incomparable sunsets while chatting to our hosts were a delight. An excellent holiday for days spent in peace and clean air.

This was exactly the type of holiday we wanted - restful, quiet, but with the opportunity to do things we wanted. The owners lived on site and were very hospitable, offering us free drinks and nibbles at the end of days on occasions. They gave us good info about the area and the owner had prepared 4 walks for us to go on. He was helpful as to which to go on and provided pictures to assist on the route. They could not have been more helpful when we needed assistance. When we first arrived we came up a steep track and wondered what we were in for, but we could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The pool seemed small when we first looked, but it was perfect to go in after some time in the sun and we did not need it to be bigger. The owner provided excellent instructions as to how to drive from Almeria airport to their accommodation and said text when near so he could keep an eye open for us. We could get the internet in the place but not in our actual living quarters - never minded going to a table near the pool, but ideally would have liked it available without moving! Overall, we were delighted with our choice and would definitely recommend it to others.

Hidden away up in the mountains John has created a tranquil and comfortable rental. The village of Lubrin is a short walk away and has a number of small and friendly bars with cheap but tasty tapas. For the more adventurous the Alhambra in Granada is a day trip away and the coast can be reached in an hour or so by car. Mini Hollywood at Tabernas is worth a visit for the western show & zoo. All in all a really peaceful getaway, thoroughly recommended.
