“Exactly as described, with a great desire to return soon.”

Reviewed 22 May 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Costa Rica and staying here for the first leg of our trip. Our villa was very clean with great vistas. The location is far enough to avoid the heavy tourist areas but close enough via rental car to enjoy the Arenal volcano area with frequent trips into La Fortuna. The horses are well behaved and trained, taking care that the horse you ride is a good fit for your experience. If you are intimated by not being able to speak Spanish, no fear here as the owners speak English well. I would without hesitation recommend this villa or others on the property for a relaxing stay and getting the flavor of authentic Costa Rica with enough side trips recommended by our hosts to keep us busy and entertained during our stay. We will return, just not soon enough.

“Costa Rican perfection”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2014

As an active, mature couple, the villa was nothing short of perfect for our needs.. Attractively designed, spacious and tastefully decorated, the villa allowed us to be close to activities in the La Fortuna area but in a location that was private, peaceful and stunningly beautiful. No need for air conditioning (although it is there). We loved the fact that we could leave the doors/windows open at night...perfectly secure and bug-free. To sit on the veranda in the morning and watch the horses in the fields and the mist burning off the hills...a cup of coffee in hand was devine. We appreciate being able to prepare some of our own meals, and the kitchen was well equipped. As the horse ranch was our first stop in Costa Rica, we can not say enough about the assistance Esteban provided in organizing our activities. As La Fortuna is teeming with competing activity providers, his advice was most appreciated. And the horse ranch itself has much to offer. In spite of having not ridden in years, we were coached on beautiful, gentle animals. The thrill of riding through cane fields or along a river bed will stay with us. We are so grateful to Esteban, his wife and his staff for providing us with the perfect introduction to Costa Rica.

“Most memorable experience yet!”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2013

My husband and I chose Costa Rica for our 3 year anniversary destination last week. We looked at various cities/towns and accommodations and after extensive hours of research, we opted to go the La Fortuna area. We knew we wanted to be close to attractions but far from the tourist crowds. We knew exactly what we wanted but couldn't really put in words. Or perhaps we thought it'd be impossible to find. We wanted a secluded location (not a resort) with a true cultural and nature encounter experience, yet modern and comfortable. We wanted to relax and disengage from everything but still be entertained enough. Our desires were beyond fulfilled. Our time at Esteban and Monica's farm over exceeded our expectations. Every single detail of our stay made this the most memorable travel experience for us. From the views, the wonderful sounds of animals all over the place, the plants and fruit trees, the staff (Maritza, Margot, Dany y Pedrito - mil gracias!), Gitana (the family's dog - our loaner pet), the outstanding service and Esteban's expertise and kindness in arranging everything for us. Esteban and his team are beyond hospitable. These people are gifted in making one feel at home. The place is a true paradise for nature lovers. My husband and I agreed that out of all the activities, the most memorable was our time horseback riding. It's not a traditional ride. It's a one of a kind experience that must not be overlooked while visiting the area whether you stay at the farm or not. Oh, don't forget to spend some time with Tonka, the gorgeous buffalo! In summary, Esteban's goal was achieved. We left with huge regret our time at the farm was over and we cannot wait to be back.
