Description from owner

Description

Casa de La Paz consists of two levels Casa Paz y Casa Hermosa each level is an independent home. They can be rented separately or together to accommodate larger parties. (Las dos planta se rentan separadas con tarifas para cada planta separadas. Las tarifas son la misma cantidad para cada planta).

The homes are situated in the Paseo de La Presa neighborhood which is one of the most desirable areas to live in Guanajuato. The homes are located on one of the hundreds of callejones in Guanajuato, and yes you have to climb some stairs. However why come to Guanajuato if you don't expect to climb stairs. That is part of the magic of this beautiful city, and what better way to immerse yourself in real callejon living while you are here. You can strike up conversations, exchange greetings with the neighbors, but know you have a very comfortable place when you get home. You will have at your disposable two very spacious homes, that are fully stocked with the best linens, pillow top bedding, and all the necessary utensils in the kitchens to make any cook/chef happy. The homes also have at their disposal a rooftop terrace that has 180 degree views of the Picachos Mountains and La Bufa as they are called by the local people. There is a half bath, patio cover, and plenty of patio furniture to entertain friends or large parties from either house or both. The pictures attached show how spectacular the views are from the terrace, and you will not be disappointed. Year round spring like weather makes it a complete joy to sit up on the terrace to read, have a glass of wine, entertain friends, or just sleep if you wish. There is also a smaller patio that is more secluded next to the first level which has a native cactus garden. This is another good place to read, meditate, or have a drink.

UPPER LEVEL (Casa Hermosa)

This level is beautifully appointed with 2 big bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a full bathroom and bedroom has a king size pillow top bed. The second bedroom has a queen size pillow top bed of superior quality. After spending long days exploring the callejones of Guanajuato you will come home to rest on a very comfortable bed. Top quality satin sheets, and pillows to match come with each bed. This level is airy and with more views. Both bedrooms are beautifully decorated with nights stands, and ceiling fans.

The living room has leather couches, and all the necessary tables. An entertainment cabinet has a 32" TV that has basic cable to watch local and international news and programming. A DVD player is also available if you want to bring your movies from home for yourself or your children. The house has wireless internet so bring your laptop, tablet or cell phone to connect to Wifi. The second living room is separate from the main living room which is another comfortable seating area to enjoy. There is a small patio at the end of this level which is another place just to relax. There are two ceiling fans in these living rooms, but chances are you will not need them to be comfortable.

The kitchen has a microwave, coffeemaker, blender, toaster, MABE refigerator, and MABE stove, and a top of the line MABE washer and dryer center to take care of all your laundry needs inside the house even during the rainy season. Concrete and talavera countertops are present in this level. Top quality dinnerware, and silverware abound in the kitchen to satisfy even the most discriminating cook/chef. All appliances are completely new.

Both levels have access to the rooftop terrace if you really want that open airy feeling. Each level has a master suite with full bathroom, and king bed, and the second bedroom has a queen bed. All the linens, and pillows are of equal quality, and should make for a great nights rest.

The houses are about a 5 minute walk from Embajadoras, and about 10 minutes to the center of town or the Jardin de Union. Most times it will take longer to get to the center of town just because you will stop and take pictures, get ice cream on the street, walk into a coffee shop along the way, or smell the fresh pastries cooking around the next corner and stop. Guanajuato is such a romantic place with so many things to see and do, and nooks and crannies to go into. However at the end of the day after exploring Guanajuato you will love coming home. You can go up to the terraza with a glass of your favorite wine, and if you are lucky enough to be here during the full moon you will feel like you can reach out and grab it.

Response from the owner Good Morning Mr.C and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. Yes the stairs are a bit for some, but I don't think Guanajuato would be Guanajuato without those famous stairs, and callejones. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and the accomodations. Come back and see us again, as we would love to have such great guests as yourselves. Again thank you for taking the time, and hope to see you back in GTO. All The Best Safe Travels JZ

Response from the owner First of all I just want to thank you for taking the time to write this very perfect review of your stay in Casa Hermosa. Yes the climb is always tough for anyone especially coming to a city with stairs everywhere at 7500 feet above sea level. I agree that climb stairs has its drawbacks and its benefits. Yes the views are quite spectacular from up there, the drawback is climbing the stairs to enjoy that. However as you mentioned after a few days the stairs are not such a big issue. I always lose a few inches around the waistline from having that stairmaster right outside our front door. LOL!!!!. It is so rare to have guests in all our homes, and yes sound travels quite easily through concrete. We used to have throw rugs all over the upper homes, but they got ruined by guests rather easily. I will take your advisement seriously about rules about dragging furniture, etc, etc, to keep the noise down for guests below. Strange there were only two guests above you, and they made so much noise. I will write those rules regarding noise after a certain time, and not dragging chairs over the tile floor. I will have a copy in each home, and send them as part of the conditions to rent the homes. Thank you so much for your great review, as we know you enjoyed your stay with us, but also very helpful to us in improving guest services. We look forward to your return, and safe travels always. Kindest Regards JZ

Response from the owner Yes sir thank you for taking the time to give us the always valuable feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the house, convenience, location, and well stocked kitchen. We have walked to Centro so many times, and it always surprises us that we find a new nook or cranny along the way. You never know what to expect or see along the way. Yes the famous Guanajuato steps are part of the city lore and fascination. I think they have been around for hundreds of years. I am up in age also, and always appreciate the stairs when I leave GTO. We feel being up there gives guests the real Guanajuato experience, as you get to see what real callejon living is like. The handrail was installed by my neighbor and myself to facilitate everyone. Either way I always leave a few pounds behind when spending a few weeks there, so I get to appreciate them after a while. You have to admit that the elevation has advantages with the spectacular views over the city. Unfortunately 110V is all we can get in most homes in GTO. There are no large A/C systems or Electric Clothes dryers anywhere, so 220V is almost nonexistent up there. Having such a large home poses problems when running to many fixtures at the same time. We had all our homes separate into different lines with their meters to help alleviate some of these issues. Thank you again for staying with us. If you visit Guanajuato in the future keep us in mind. We would love to have you. Safe Travels Always JZ

It was very nice to be in GTO during your stay and it was certainly a pleasure meeting you and you family. Yes the house is not centrally located, but as you found out is a very walkable city even from our home.
