"Porto Sea & River", officially registered for tourism, is a spacious, modern and fully-equipped apartment by the beaches and the mouth of the Douro River (on the south side). It’s located in a quiet residential area with parks and views of the river and pine forests. There are bakeries, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets and other options nearby. Bike hire, surf lessons, kayak rentals, riverboat trips are all easy to arrange. From the apartment you can walk 200 m down to a 15km stretch of white sand beaches, where there are walkways, cycle tracks, cool beach bars and good seafood restaurants. Or you can head along the scenic river road (with walkway and cycle track) to the Douro Marina (with yachts) and Afurada fishing village (with local fish restaurants and a charming ferryboat). A bit further upriver are the Port wine cellars and historic centre of Porto. Downstairs there's a shared garden and barbecue area, as well as space in the garage for 1 car. Ideal for couples, families and groups wanting a mix of relaxation and things to see, including historic Porto and nearby beaches. We provide a welcome hamper with food and drink when you arrive. I lived here when I was working for a Port wine company in Gaia/Porto and I've been welcoming guests since.

Getting around

Taxis are cheap and are the best way to get to and from the airport. There's a bus stop outside the apartment, with 3 routes to different parts of town (including the historic center and port wine cellars). Bikes are available for hire and cost around 15 euros per day. There's a walkway/ cycle track all along the coast and also up the river to the historic center. Hire cars are useful if wanting to explore further afield and there's 1 space in the garage, plus free parking on the streets.

Interaction with guest

You'll be met by Rosa who lives nearby. She's from the local area and will point out directions for bus stop, beach, river, shops, restaurants etc. A very detailed information sheet is sent upon booking, with recommendations for local restaurants, beaches, activities, transport options and so on.

House rules

This is my home and I like to keep it in a good condition for guests. Please help me by taking care too. Pets, smoking and loud parties are not allowed. Families live in adjoining apartments, so please be considerate and don't make too much noise, especially in the morning (before 9am) or at night (after 10pm). There's a balcony, so please keep watch over children. Many thanks!

How do damage deposits work?
