“Just right for us”
As ever, we loved our most recent visit to Podere Vallari - and cannot count how many times we have been there over the past couple of decades - with friends and family, with the dog, sometimes just the two of us, like this time, when we stayed (for the first time) in El Gato Negro. This holiday apartment was just right for us : spacious for two persons, fully equipped with everything one might need - including wine and oil from Podere Vallari. The big house higher up the hill (where we have often stayed before) is great for a larger group, and is even being expanded - Sigismund's latest project. It will be spectacular to sit on the raised terrace looking over the vineyards and down to the sea. As ever, Ursula and Sigismund attended to our every wish. An ideal place for a relaxing vacation with warmly welcoming hosts who know the area extremely well.
“Hidden gem in the Tuscany Hills”
This was a great find by friends of ours. We went as a large group, most of us stayed in the cottage. Myself and my girlfriend stayed in the apartment. The apartment was clean with a nice kitchen that facilitated delicious breakfasts and dinners. Ursula and Sigismund were wonderful hosts that made us feel welcome. They gave us a tour of the grounds, and the olive oil from their farm is divine. The views were spectacular from our apartment and the surroundings are sparse cottages and farms. We took walks and ran trails enjoying the views and adventure. The location was central to many popular destinations. San Giminiano, Voltera, Pisa were all within a quick drive of our location. Riparbella is a great beach town, although when we went in the spring it was still too cold to swim. There is an amazing farmers market that is worth a visit especially because you have access to a kitchen. Every time I come back to Pisa Podere Vallari is the place for me to stay.
Response from the owner dear Amro, how nice to get this feedback! Now what remains is the hope that your job or free time plans will bring you soon back to the Province of Pisa! We shall be very glad to welcome you again! Ursula
“Return Visit as Fun as the First”
I first came to Podere Vallari with a group as a surprise birthday gift for a good friend. We rented the farmhouse, and cooked every day, walked into Riparbella, toured the hill towns of Tuscany, and had such a good time that two years later I came back. This time was with my boyfriend and we rented the top floor apartment. Talk about romantic! We had views over the olive groves, a balcony where we enjoyed leisurely breakfasts in the sun, and a kitchen where I tried a couple of Ursula's own recipes. (I still carry her recipe for Tuscan Bread Salad around in my wallet.) This is a peaceful, country get-away in a great location for visiting some of the gems of Tuscany. Plus, wonderful hosts that I count as friends now, after spending two wonderful weeks with them in Riparbella.
The Hadelichs are delightful and helpful hosts, offering many useful suggestions for enjoying this lovely area. The apartment we stayed in is spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. The kitchen area is very well equipped. The views from the apartment are lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the balcony. The views include the Hadelichs' olive orchard and vineyards. The farm's wine and olive oil are always available for sampling and purchase.
My sons and I spent the night with Ursula and Sigismund in June. One of my sons had actually spent time woofing at Podere Vallari in October 2011. They were incredible hosts and provided very comfortable, clean and private accommodations. We loved walking and seeing their property as well as visiting with them. We would definitely return!
“Beautiful vistas and warm hospitality!”
We spent time here with Sigismund and Ursula in 2004, again in 2011 and hope to again in 2014. It is a respite from the busy tourist attractions, and they make wonderful olive oil, you need a car, but many tourist attraction within short driving distance. Kathy and Frank, Peoria Illinois
“We couldn't believe our luck.”
We chose Podere Vallari for our Tuscan vacation because of it's proximity to the ocean but we will return for the hospitality of Ursula and Sigismund. They filled us in on local events and restaurants, sights in the area and current local news. The apartment (Rose) in which we stayed was spacious, impeccably clean and offered a well-stocked kitchen which we only used for making breakfast which we enjoyed on our terrace with a view. It's a convenient location from which to explore. We managed to visit Pisa, Lucca, San Gimgnano, Siena and Riparbella while also enjoying time at the beach. We chose not to visit Florence as we realized we would be returning soon.
“An Ideal Place to Stay”
Aside from its beauty and its scenic views, aside from the good company of hosts, Ursula and Sigismund, and aside from the pleasures had from the wine and olive oil they produce - what is most memorable about our stay (and a reason why we highly recommend Podere Vallari as a fantastic place to rent) is that it is surprisingly convenient as a hub from which to visit many of Tuscany's most magnificent sites while at the same time providing the chance to relish rural tranquility. For example, we made easy day trips to Elba, Pisa, Lucca, the Chianti region, San Gimignano, Montalcino, and Siena, and we also enjoyed strolling down the country lanes around Podere Vallari itself. Very clean. Very well-maintained.
