Description
Elliot River Retreat is located in the northern end of the Bowen Whitsunday Region where the Elliot River runs into the Coral Sea between Cape Upstart and Abbott Point. The location is ideal as a private retreat, for a family holiday and the keen fisherman. The pristine waters of Cape Upstart with white sand beaches are nearby and accessible by boat with lovely picnic spots, good fishing and mud crabs. The Elliot River is adjacent to the Retreat and has safe shallow areas for children to play, riverside walks and river, estuary and creek fishing.
The beautiful beaches of Bowen are a 48 klm drive south with Ayr a drive of 67 klm to the north. The area is well known for its picturesque scenery, beaches and fishing.
The retreat is situated in a secluded rural setting adjacent to the Elliot River on the southern side. It is the only three bedroom self-contained holiday rental in the area and an ideal private getaway.
The Retreat is self-contained 3 bedroom home that can sleep up to 6 guests, is fully furnished, air conditioning and screened throughout, linen provided and satellite TV. Outdoor table settings and BBQ is provided to relax and enjoy the views.
The Retreat provides two undercover parking bays and has a large fully fenced yard with plenty of room for several cars and boats.
The fishing enthusiast is well catered for with an outdoor filleting table, fridge, deep freezer and gas crab cooker.
The Elliot River boat ramp is 1.5 kms down the road and provides access to reef, beach and estuary fishing and mud crabs which are prevalent at the right time of the year. If you don’t have a boat you can stroll down the road to cast a line from the river or estuary bank to catch Barra, Mangrove Jack, Flathead, Bream and Whiting.
The Retreat is located off the Bruce Highway on the southern side of the Elliot River 3 kms down Wally Sproule Road. The turnoff is approximately half way between Bowen and Ayr. The nearest Service Station is at Guthalungra on the northern side of the Elliot River.
The nearest airport is Proserpine which is 110 kms south of the Retreat with the Townsville airport being 155 kms north of the Retreat.
Food baskets can be provided at an additional cost on request and include seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables grown on site.

“We had the most peaceful, restful and tranquil holiday anybody c”
We had the most peaceful, restful and tranquil holiday anybody could hope for. We spent our days walking among the gum trees or fishing and swimming on pristine nearby islands. Katie, John and their dog Diesel are the most extraordinary hosts! They made us feel welcomed and relaxed - giving us tips on the best fishing and crabbing spots and even a box of home grown vegies and fruits. A home away from home. Just the recharge we needed - highly recommended!
