“A Cozy Aerie!”
We stayed with Bill and Mimi while visiting family. Their house is in a lovely neighborhood and the 3rd floor suite is cozy and comfortable. It was a great place to unwind and get some quiet downtime. You enter the house through the kitchen and so it was like staying with family. Bill,Mimi and Katie were warm and welcoming and even their cats greeted us. Mimi generously provided us with some useful information based on activities we talked about. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone wanting a home stay over a hotel.
“Lovely neighborhood and quiet stay behond expectation”
We were on vacation from Trois-Rivières Québec Canada we choose this charming house for the nice neighborhood and close to the tram to go downtown. Everything that we had expected at time of reservation was the same but even more beautifull and quiet then we taught. Everything was clean and we just felt like hoe. Within a walking distance to groceries and restaurant at night if you decide not to go downtown. If you like to walk the neighborhood is so beautifull that you can walk for hours. Mimi the owner she is a great host, if you have any concerns she will do her best to help you, For sure if i go back in Cleveland i will stay at Mimi place again. If you are looking for more like a loft instead of a motel or hotel, this is your choice. Thanks again Mimi Lyne & André from Canada
Response from the owner Thank you so much. It was really a pleasure to host you both and quite inspiring to see all the places you walked to around town! We'd love to host you again if you decide to come back to Cleveland.
“Best stay in Shaker Heights”
It was a great stay in Shaker Heights! Mimi and her lovely family live in the best Cleveland neighborhood. The private apartment is inside a beautiful cozy house. What is important is that it is really private and peaceful. It is fully equipped with everything you will need during your stay. We really felt like living in our home in there. It's just a few minutes by car from the Clinic and just a few steps from the public park and Shaker Square, where you can find laundry, supermarket, nice restaurants and a cafe. It's incredible how careful Bill is about the garden, that's why it looks so great all the time. We will never forget the good times in there, specially the cheese and wine night at the garden. Truly recommended! All the best! Jp and ana Flavia
Response from the owner We loved having you both as our guests and hope we will get to spend time with you again either in the U.S. or Brazil!
“Artistry & comfort in Cleveland”
Mimi and her husband Bill were absolutely lovely hosts: warm, welcoming, discreet. Mimi sent driving instructions from the airport, which was very appreciated, and helped us locate key destinations during our stay. The third floor is sufficiently separate to feel private, while still contained within the household (shared external entrance; access to the third floor through the central staircase). The 3rd floor suite is quiet and comfortable, with a door at the bottom of the stairs. It is possible to prepare food although we limited ourselves to hot drinks and cold foods. Pots are stored in the bathroom so elaborate cooking would not be practical but there is sufficient equipment to cook should one wish to. For those of you who like taking baths, the bathroom is very nice: large, light-filled, with a good tub. The location is very convenient: a short walk to Shaker Square and Larchmere, with its restaurants and shops (plus a great farmer's market on Saturday morning), and access to the Rapid (tram). What we appreciated most was simply the warmth of the hosts themselves and the beauty of their home, which is filled with art, much of it by relatives and friends. We would happily return to Mimi and Bill's house in the future.
Response from the owner We really enjoyed having Alison and Phillipe as our guests and were very happy to get to know them. We now keep the pots and pans right near the hotplate so cooking can be more convenient for guests.
“Nice comfortable place”
My week long stay at Mimi's home couldn't have been better. The top floor two rooms and bath are both pretty and practical. The Shaker Heights neighborhood is delightful and close to restaurants and public transportation. Highly recommend.
Response from the owner Thanks so much, Carol. We really enjoyed having you as our guest and hope we will meet again soon.
My wife and I had a lovely time at Bill & Mimi's place. Touring for a year with a Broadway play usually means a lot of hotels, so any chance to enjoy a residential stay is always much appreciated. Bill and Mimi were terrific hosts, very accommodating and truly interested in making us feel at home. They also were very kind to make an exception for our well-behaved dog, and we all enjoyed their backyard (on the days it wasn't raining!). Shaker Heights is a nice respite from downtown Cleveland, with beautiful houses, some nice little restaurants, and even some nature trails near their house. A good stay in pleasant surroundings with fine folk. Thanks, Mimi!
Response from the owner Thanks so much, Todd. We really enjoyed having you, Angie & Butley as our guests. It was thrilling to see you both onstage in Warhorse - best of luck to you both in our careers - your acting abilities are truly a gift to all of us!
“Can't wait to go back!”
I stayed with Mimi for five days and it was absolutely delightful. Mimi and her family were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The space is charming and extremely comfortable. I will be staying there again when I am next in the area.
Response from the owner Thanks so much, Shawn. We really enjoyed having you as our guest.
We were in Cleveland for a 3-day weekend to visit our son at Case Westen. I was delighted to stay in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the us! Bill greeted us to the top floor "apartment" which is accessed though the house but very private once you are up there. We enjoyed our stay very much as well as the opportunity to get to know our hosts as they invited us to their living room one night upon our arrival. And I almost forgot to mention that they provided parking for us, which was very convenient.
Response from the owner We really enjoyed getting to know you and having you both as our guests.
“How I learned that New York is not the center of the world”
I stayed with Mimi and Bill for several months while being treated at the Cleveland Clinic; a stay of three seasons. My time at their beautiful 1914 home in Shaker Heights inturned out to be one of the best and most formative events of my life. There were Mimi and Bill whose basic goodness was inspiring and so helpful. They made what I expected to be a difficult stay into a life changing one, opening my eyes to a city which is so underestimated. There were my rooms. I stayed in a great atelier two rooms suite with a private bath on the very private top floor. I watched snow fall and saw it settle on the unique grounds of Shaker Heights. The smells of spring drifted through my windows and I watched beautiful blossoms appearing on huge trees. I was cozy through occasional rainstorms which pattered on the roof above my slanted ceilings. Children with knapsacks and bicycles made their way to school in small groups beneath my windows. And summer brought the smell of cut grass, along with a harvest of fresh vegetables and berries from Bill's great garden. Then came the day I had to leave Shaker Heights and return to New York, which was no longer the center of the world for me. How bittersweet was that! Within moments drive of the house was the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Museum of art, The Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall, Case Western, the Botanical Gardens, The Science Museum, and Shaker Square (actually a short walk) with quite a few top notch restaurants and a bar/restaurant called Sasa's which might as well have been called Cheers for its tight knit group of friendly clients and barmaids who made me feel at home from day one. There is no way to overstate this unforgettable experience. I have carried a dozen new friends in my heart and look forward to my periodic visits for checkups in a way that a kid cant wait for Christmas. If I write another word on this topic, I'll probably run out there and buy a house on that unforgettable block. March 2012
