I have stayed in holiday rentals in many parts of the world and this is the best. The communication when booking was efficient and the check in and out seamless. Everything has been thought of and toiletries and basic cooking supplies provided. The accommodation was cleaned mid way through our four night stay and everything was immaculately clean when we arrived. We walked everywhere and the stream in front was a great reference point to orientate ourselves when using a map. I used the bath house just a couple of minutes around the corner which was wonderful after a day sightseeing. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recomend this lovely little place to stay in Kyoto.
“Great stay in well designed townhouse, in quiet and convenient location”
Our house was located across from a small stream and best of all we could see the cherry blossom bloom (in April) right from our bedroom. The house is big enough for four adults, and there is a full kitchen and a washing machine. I'm not sure if they had wifi as we had access the internet on our own network. As a frequently traveller what I admire most about K Villa is the house's design and how well thought out everything is. There are maps and directions to possibly everything you would need during your stay. The house is about a 5 minute taxi ride (appoximately 700 yen) from Kyoto train station and there is a mini mart as well as a few restaurants within walking distance. You could bike to Kyoto station, but it would be too far to do it by foot. Bottom line: K' Villa is very professionally run and provides speedy responses to email in perfect English. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back, I promise :)
“Comfortable and relaxing stay in an quite and convenience environment”
We stayed in K's Villa for 3 nights during our holiday in Kyoto. Although it was tough to locate when we first arrived (even the taxi driver had to get down the taxi to search for it before informing us that we had reached our destination), exploring the surrounding after that was easy, especially for dinning, as well as talking a walk to nearby attraction; Kiyomizudera Temple and Higashiyama District. K's Villa has all we need for a comfortable stay. Portable Humidifier provided was especially useful. Living room. kitchen, bath room and toilet are modern and clean. 2nd floor with 5 futons for sleeping provides a unique experience. Only concern for us who has a toddler is the staircase that has no railing. Getting up to or down from the upper floor requires cautious move, especially in the middle of the night to bring the toddler to the toilet downstairs. Overall, K's Villa provided us with a wonderful staying experience in Kyoto amid a quiet and relaxing environment.
All the decorations and facilities make the house feels like home. Comparing to other hotels or youth hostels, Takasegawa-tei keeps its Japanese style and also gives people feeling of home. It has necessary kitchen equipments which are good for cooking tofu, rice and Kyoto vegetables. The near bus stop 河原町五條 on the main street is 3 minutes away by walking. The bus stop leads to all the famous temple. This location, the price and facilities are suitable for someone who want to have long-stay and want to deeply understand Japanese life by slowly walking around, cooking Kyoto vegetables. If there is a serious weakness that I should find out, that is the toilet button and laundry button are written in Japanese.
“Wonderful townhouse with lovely view of canal”
We stayed in this townhouse for 6 days in Kyoto. It was very beautiful and stylishly decorated. The kitchen was well equipped (minus a microwave) and the shower was excellent. One of the top 10 showers ever. It was situated on a quiet pedestrian street overlooking a canal but was nevertheless very close to public transportation. Beds were comfortable and cozy. Provides slippers for indoor use on tatami mats and umbrellas in case of rain. My family and I loved both the townhouse and the location making Takasegawa a 5-star accommodation. One quibble - the neighbors are very sensitive about noise, complaining even though we weren't very loud. So best for a quiet group.
“Fantastic accommodation at a fantastic price!”
Family of 4 with 2 young kids stayed there. Very clean, well equipped kitchen and comfortable bedding. Only downside is there were quite a few mosquitos on the road outside the apartment/beside the canal. Inside is fine as there were a bunch of insect repellent of sorts that were setup probably for this reason. Convenient location to get to by bus; get the bus day pass and all your sightseeing needs are covered. Probably not suitable for toddlers due to the stairs.
“Great choice for family”
The house is clean & have nice smell, very comfortable japanese futon, with complete toiletries, laundry & kitchen utilities, nearby public transport from Keihan main line..buses not far...minor disadvantage: no signage to show you the direction of the hse once u reach the kiyomizu-gojo stn. it'll be best if map can be drawn with clear landmarks i.e. Idemitsu petrol station & no big towels provided, maybe the owner should consider to provide them in the future..Thanks.
“Clean, elegant and comfortable in an excellent quiet location.”
Elegantly presented and furnished. The apartment was well maintained with a fantastic shower, washing machine, dryer and practically everything else you need for a comfortable holiday. I will definitely stay there again when I return to Kyoto. The apartment even had a coffee grinder and a seemingly endless supply of coffee beans! The rooms were Tatami mats with Futons so you need to be happy with sleeping on the floor, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. The staff at K's Hostel were very helpful and friendly allowing us to store our luggage on the last day and helping us order taxis and talk to drivers etc.
