“Nothing was lacking in the comfort, amenity and location, a real pleasure to stay at Berry, we will be back!”
Excellent personal service, a clean, contemporary, warm and comfortable home. We even had snow! We would love to come back and spend more time to take advantage of the local area ... the fishing, the walks, local drives and just to hang in this home and enjoy its comfort and style ... and its warmth in a cold Tassie winter!
Response from the owner We appreciate you taking the time to submit a review on your stay at Freshwater on Berry, thank you. We are very pleased to hear that you found the lodge to be clean, warm and comfortable. We hope to welcome you back in the future!
“A beautiful place away from home”
Freshwater on Berry, is a very nice peaceful place to stay as a couple or with friends. Comfortable, warm and looking out the window at the snow falling was picturesque. Loved it and will definitely be back.
Response from the owner Many thanks for your positive feedback; it's great to hear you saw snow falling! We look forward to welcoming you back to Freshwater Lodges in the future.
“Relaxing and luxurious accommodation that met every expectation”
Our two night stay during chilly late May met every expectation and more. A truly relaxing getaway with my hubby and little boy in comfortable, luxurious accommodation surrounded by the beautiful wilderness of the central highlands. Everything you could want in a self contained apartment has been provided. I will definitely recommend Freshwater on Berry and would love to stay here again in the future.

“Pleasant stay at Freshwater Lodges!”
This was a great place to stopover on the way from Cradle Mountain down to Lake St Clair. Had everything you would need, extremely clean, great shower and very cosy. We arrived in the dark after driving thru some thick fog but it was very easy to find Freshwater Lodge and access the keys from the directions given. Very comfortable lodge and we would not hesitate to book again. Booking was easy with prompt communications from the owner.
Response from the owner Thanks for your review, we're pleased to hear you enjoyed your stopover at Freshwater on Berry. It's also great to receive your positive feedback on the directions we supply, on how to reach the lodge and access the key on arrival.
“Heaven on the hill”
Owner, Rebecca, is a most pleasant and obliging person, (as too is husband, fellow fly fisher, Michael). This modern house is inspiringly set by the beautiful rocky outcrop, on the hilltop. Just to be in the living area and admire the view is a joy: morning, afternoon or evening! Spacious, immaculate and light, with all the creature comforts, and amongst this wonderful country and its highland lakes, means you just want to stay and stay longer. Even the trout obliged, so smoking one on the deck was a bonus for all to enjoy. Thank you so much, Rebecca.
Response from the owner Many thanks for your review, we love your description of Freshwater on Berry and are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Thanks again!
“5 star stay”
Stayed at freshwater for 4 nights in Feb and what can I say, a home away from home all the creature comforts you could need for a great stay, spotlessly clean, great bed and peace and quiet....what more could you want. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us and making everything from booking to our stay so easy x
Response from the owner Thanks so much for your review. With Freshwater Lodges one of our aims was to create a home away from home, it's so wonderful to hear that in your opinion we have achieved this. Thanks again!
“A great stay at Freshwater On Berry”
The Central Highlands of Tasmania are a favorite destination. Lakes and tarns, unique flora and fauna and of course the fly fishing. A pickup from the Hobart airport, a quick bite to eat and we were off; destination Freshwater Lodge (on Berry). Freshwater Lodge is bang smack in the middle of the action with a season’s worth of fishing and exploring right at the front doorstep. The ‘shack’ is beautifully positioned in amongst gnarled gums and boulders allowing nature to come right into the living area. The deck is a great place to eat, have a cold beer and simply relax and watch the sun set. The lodge is new, well-appointed and has all the mod cons. The two bedrooms are ample and accommodates four comfortably. There has been a lot of thought and care in creating Freshwater Lodge on Berry and I can thoroughly recommend it as a great place to stay
Response from the owner Many thanks for taking the time to submit a review, we really appreciate it. We love the position of Freshwater on Berry ourselves, as you say it allows "nature to come right into the living area". It's also great to hear that you relaxed on the deck and watched the sun set. Thanks again for your recommendation.
I stayed in Miena at Freshwater Lodges over the Australia Day long weekend. This is the second time I've stayed there and it was amazing. The house is basically brand new, has all the amenities you need (heating, cooling, kitchen, bathroom, etc) and a beautiful little pot belly fire out the back for the cold nights. I couldnt knock this property. I've been travelling to Miena every year for 25 years now and the value, condition and comfort of this home is the best in the area.
Response from the owner Thanks so much for your review. We were delighted to welcome you back to Freshwater on Berry for a second visit and we are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
“A gem in the central highlands”
We stayed at Freshwater on Berry for 1 night recently. We were en route from the far south of Tasmania to Cradle Mountain. We wanted to explore the A5 highway and Miena seemed like a great place to stay for a night to break up the trip. The house is immaculate, exceptionally clean and well appointed. The lounge area has lovely individual couches that were very comfy and relaxing to rest in. Lock-up garage also. If you are into trout fishing then I imagine many nights could be spent here! The backyard is very pretty too with large lichen covered boulders which my kids enjoyed exploring.
Response from the owner Many thanks for taking the time to submit a review. Being centrally located in Tasmania, Freshwater Lodges are in a good place for breaking up a journey across the state. We're pleased to hear you liked Freshwater on Berry and that your kids had fun exploring the rocky outcrop!
“Excellent family accommodation for a stay in the Highlands Tasmania”
We really enjoyed our stay with our 17 month old baby in this comfortable, modern and self contained apartment. We found everything we need with its fully furnished kitchen and supplies. The neighborhood was very quiet and beautiful with natural landscape. Futhermore, it was not far from one of the Tasmania's most popular site: "Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair" National park. We highly recommend it!
Response from the owner Many thanks for your positive feedback and recommendation, we're pleased to hear you found Freshwater on Berry comfortable and that you had everything you needed. As you say, our accommodation is not far from the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park (about an hour's drive), which is well worth a visit. Another place of interest on the way to the national park is The Wall in the Wilderness, a 100m sculpture which is being carved into timber.
