“Wonderful Stay in Cuenca”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2014

My husband and I stayed in the studio apartment with the balcony for 14 days in July. We were very pleased with our accommodations and the location of the beautifully renovated building. It was within walking distance of many of the fabulous sites in the historic center and is surrounded by a variety of restaurants. Our host, Stu, was also very helpful and accessible when needed. He definitely made every effort to make our stay memorable and worry-free. We would highly recommend these studio apartments to any future travelers to Cuenca.

“Great Place to Stay”

When we arrived for our two week stay, we were pleasantly surprised. The pictures definitely represented the facility. Right in the heart of the old city, walking distance to almost any type of restaurant. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

“The best in Cuenca”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2013

This is the best place in Cuenca. The host, Stuart, is incredibly accommodating He takes the time to introduce you to the other guests and the courtyard becomes a great community space. Spotlessly clean and well appointed. The kitchenette was perfect for me to make coffee and keep a few cold cervazas on hand, with a Peruvian, a Mexican, and a Spanish restaurant across the street and a Columbian restaurant next door there was no need to cook. A short walk to Parque Calderon and all the markets. Hot hot water and all you could want. This will be my first choice when back in Cuenca.

“Wonderful place”

I believe I was the first renter in this studio, and it was a welcome change from my previous hostal. Stuart was a very gracious host, he and his wife met me with roses and a full tour of the facilities. They made me feel right at home, even down to the alpaca blankets on the bed from his ranch. The kitchen was stocked with good-quality pots and pans, dishes, etc., a toaster, microwave, cutting board, coffee maker (for the fabulous Lojano coffee), and the shower had endless hot water (although it takes about 10 minutes of water running for the on-demand heater to really kick in). Although I didn't have pets, a neighbor did, and it's good that Stuart will allow his guests to have their furry companions with them. And the garden area was exquisite. All in all, I would certainly make this my first choice were I coming to stay in Cuenca again. It's a real gem of a place, with a real gem of an owner/host.

“Great place, location, and host”

Stu White has done a great job of providing a place in old Cuenca from which to walk everywhere to experience the city. We spent two weeks and, partly because of Stu and the rental experience, plan to move from Indiana to Cuenca around November 1.
