Are you seeking quiet rural beauty just a short drive from San José? This gorgeous two bedroom apartment offers both luxury and close proximity to the capital city. Nestled in the mountains of Escazu, we’re only 10 minutes from the local town center; 20 minutes from CIMA Hospital; 25 minutes to downtown San Jose and the International Airport (15 miles/25 km). Ideal for those seeking a retreat, whether tourists, medical tourists (we’re fully handicapped accessible), birders, gardeners, meditators, and anyone else who wants to soak up the peace here.

We offer free airport pickup, and we can have a rental car delivered to your doorstep.

Every single room has lovely views of the mountains, even the walk in closet, the shower and the dining room. Both bedrooms have balconies from which to enjoy the view. We have a fully equipped kitchen with granite counters and tigerwood cabinets and a wood paneled dining room. You will find extras such as an electric piano, audiobooks, and various amenities in case you forgot something (extra hats, sunscreen, bug repellent, etc.)

FOR TOURISTS: We are a central base for your trips around Costa Rica such as Manuel Antonio, Arenal, and the Southern Zone. Don't miss the hike up Pico Blanco mountain in our backyard.

FOR BIRDERS: Birding is very good here; an ETX spotting scope is available in the apartment for your use. Some of the birds our guests have seen are Montezuma's Oropendulas, Azure Browed Mot Mots, Blue Grey Tanagers, Grey Headed Chacalacas, Squirrel Cuckoos, Black Shouldered Kites, Kiskadees and hummingbirds.

FOR GARDENERS: Be sure to tour our many exotic fruit and perfume trees that grow on the 11 acre property. (We’ll be surprised if you’ve heard of half of these species.) We have over a hundred species, including dragonfruit, Abyssinian banana, and perfumed champaca.

FOR MEDICAL AND DENTAL PATIENTS: There are no steps or stairs; you can park close to the front door. All the doors are sliding in order to accommodate wheelchairs, and the hallway is wide. We have an electric hospital bed, and the second bedroom (which has its own bath) can be used by a nurse/caretaker. The bathroom in the main bedroom has a wheelchair accessible shower and a raised toilet with handrails. The entire apartment has US stype 110V electrical outlets that are higher up than normal for better accessibility. We have a bed table on wheels for eating or reading in bed. The large bedside tables were specially designed to allow for ample storage and easy access. There is full spectrum lighting, and even the shelves in the walk-in closet are lighted. Out the front door is a large flat paved area with garden, fountain, and a mountain view. (Note: We don't have a resident medical caretaker, however we can find one for you.)

The property is secured by a 24 hour guard service and the owners live on-site. We have instant emergency backup power in case of power outages. The apartment has its own telephone line and our own excellent well water. The apartment has a laundry room, and we can do laundry for guests for a fee.

We recommend that you rent a car while staying here; however we do have a roster of recommended bilingual taxi drivers as well as bus times. Uber has worked well for our guests. There is secure parking near the front door for two cars.

The kitchen and dining room are brand new; we suspended rentais while we created the kitchen, so our reviews are from last year. We also have a beach house in Manuel Antonio with stunning ocean views for rent.

HOUSE RULES: This apartment is especially peaceful and quiet; please no loud music or noise. Sorry, no pets or smoking. This rental is short term only - three months at most.

House rules

This is a quiet, serene spot above the city. Please keep the noise level down. There is parking for a maximum of two cars near the entrance to the apartment. Please pull in so that other cars can get around the rotunda.

For stays longer than two weeks, the renter pays electricity (rate of $0.25 per KWH), the telephone line, extra gas for the stove, and trash pickup the municipality won’t handle. The landlord will pay for water, internet, and regular municipal trash pickup.

How do damage deposits work?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your booking page. To change your dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Sarah (the owner) a message.

If Sarah (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
