“It was a nice getaway.. (except)”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2017

We liked our stay. We come from Chicago so getting out of the city is important to us. The cabins are vary simple but nice enough except the bathroom could be better. We stayed for 4 nights and we're ready to go because of the misquotes are everywhere they were inside the cabin & we couldn't enjoy the nights for walks or camp fire because you would get eaten up after nightfall searsery it was ruff. They could use a misquote prevention plan there especially when there is nothing. The boat rental seems like a good deal until you find out that they won't give you more gasoline so on the 2nd day I used it with my family we ran out of gas $35 a day they say but don't tell you it's really 35$ for the gas tank and they think it's funny when you tell them you had to paddle your whole family back it's a big lake so paddling my whole family was hard as hell you should get a full tank each day the tanks are small like 5 gallons so had to pay $70 for two half days of boat use when I tried getting more gas for the rest of the day he wanted more $$.. I just think people need to be able to use the boat for the day because that's what you're paying for. We also had to clean out the boat of water before we could use it it was full of rain water I feel if I'm playing $$ for the boat it should come with plenty of gas & it should be ready for us when we need it. Sorry if I seem negative but we payed a lot of money so I think the emites should have been better. I don't like being nickel & dimed for everything.

Response from the manager We are sorry that you had unrealistic expectations. Your views will be taken in to consideration.

“Highly recommend this spot!”

This was the perfect place for me, the 4 grown kids and our dog. We especially loved the free paddleboat, paddleboards, kayaks and canoes available as well as a dock for our own boat. Didn't see a pool or hot tub, though.

“Delightful cabin on the lake experience”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2016

We loved it. Kids loved playing with all of the water toys, so did the parents. Kitchen was fully equipped to provide family meals. Loved the look, feel, decor of the cabin. The property was lovely. Hate saying this because I love trees, but just wished there was more of an opening to see the water from the front porch area. Loved that we could bring our dog with too. She had a great time, as well. Definitely will be returning.

Response from the manager Thank you for the positive review and constructive comments Jennifer. We do have permission from the DNR for thinning the brush and small trees along the shore line this fall. We look forward to seeing you and your family again. Sincerely, Scott & Kay

“Beautiful location, great skiing & wonderful hosts”

I lived here for a few months during the winter and it was perfect - the cabins are cute, cozy, and rustic, the lake is pretty, it's 15 minutes from the Mosquito Brook & OO Birkie Trail trailheads, the wax room is big and well-equipped, there's an excellent sauna that gets seriously hot (and Scott keeps a hole in the ice to jump into the lake), and of course Scott and Kay are wonderfully welcoming and generous.
