“Wonderful house, incredible view, unbelievable time!”
What an unbelievable place. The house is stunning. Very tastefully done; terracotta floors, high ceilings, huge dining table. And then there’s the view. Don’t think I’ve enjoyed watching the sunset so much anywhere in the world. Especially with a Flor de Cana in hand. Can’t rate this place highly enough.
“Two time already. I dont want to stay anywhere else!”
We've stayed here with friends and family two times already and its been amazing. The house is beautiful, beachy with an elegant feel, has a pool and BBQ grill which was perfect, we just took our food/booze and had a wonoderful time. The views are a-ma-zing! Staff is also very nice, same as the rental agent, drove us all the way there to deliver our keys both times. Love it, cant wait for this years trip!
“Can't beat the view”
This is a beautiful house in a fabulous spot on the outskirts of San Juan del Sur. There is a great breeze on the hill to keep you cool while working on your tan or lounging in the shady hammock. The view of the Pacific is amazing, we spent hours just sitting on the porch or swimming in the pool looking out over the bay. We spotted humpback whales on multiple occasions and could even seen them breaching. Howler monkeys and chirping geckos also kept us company! The house itself is gorgeous; lots of hard wood, local tile, custom everything. It's very beautiful and very comfortable. We all felt at home right away. The care takers at the house are also great, very helpful and friendly. It was nice to be outside of busy San Juan but still be within walking distance for evenings when you want some night life or to book tours, etc. Otherwise, staying in at the house is great, as well. The pool is lovely and there is a fully equipped kitchen, board games, books, etc. There are multiple beaches within walking distance and many others just a short bus ride away. Our group had a really wonderful time and couldn't have asked for anything else!
“Luxurious Easy Living”
I want to return to Nicaragua! There were 4 of us. We arrived at night & I was stunned in the morning by the view. The house has plenty of room, clean & luxurious. San Juan del Sur was a picturesque beach town with enough tourism to have fun restaurants, bars, tours, & amenities; but not too much. There were still charming shops, crafts on the street, a great market, & a relaxed vibe. The hill...it is worth it for the view! We would usually walk down & take a cab up. We got the number of a taxi driver & Karla called him if we needed to be picked up at the house. Whenever we walked down, people were hiking up to the Christo statue ($1 fee). We walked up a couple times & jumping into the pool felt great after! This place could be ideal for a group, 2 families or a couple that wants extra room; actually I can't imagine who wouldn't feel comfortable. If you like entertaining the patio & great room are perfect. We did a combination of eating out & cooking at the house. The house had everything you would need to prepare a meal. There are great restaurants in town. We went to Juanita's 2 nights in a row because it was so delicious. I would recommend getting breakfast in the market a few mornings for variety. We did a few trips from Sjds. Maderas was great for a long beach stroll. I didn't surf but there were people out there. We spent a weekend in Granada. I would highly recommend spending a couple nights there. (I thought 2 nights was enough.) We spent an afternoon at Laguna de apoyo; highly recommended if you like swimming in a volcanic crater that feels like bathwater. We spent a few days in Costa Rica visiting my cousin who retired near Coco. Kaitlin was easy to get a hold of & responsive. Karla, Yoder(?) & Yaritza were very helpful. There was a language barrier; but w/ what I recalled from school & Google we had no problems. I didn't feel like I needed a vacation from my vacation. It was incredible to return home to this peaceful palace every day.
“Great Location and amenities”
The home is in a great location with an amazing view. It meet all of our expectations. The house is beautiful with a great layout for large groups of 4 or more. We were able to cook several meals at the house along. I loved the pool and view.
“Loved every minute we were there”
We just spent a week at El arbol de Limon and could not have been happier. We are a family of six with four teenagers/early adults and we all loved hanging out at the pool and watching the view over the ocean. It felt like our private bay. The home is beautiful and spacious with high ceilings and lots of windows and the gardens are well maintained. We had Karla prepare dinner the night we arrived and our first breakfast which was delicious and initiated us to Nicaraguan cooking. We opted to eat out every night thereafter and found a lot of great restaurants. One of our favourite things was watching Olympic hockey at Dorados on the beach. We enjoyed San Juan Del Sur and the surfing beaches, especially Playa Hermosa which was more our speed. It was very hard to leave and we hope to be back. The only suggestion is to lease a 4x4 car as the road to the house is quite steep. It also allows the freedom to get to the beaches and other nearby activities although there are other forms of transportation to get you around.
“Perfect, Private House in San Juan Del Sur”
Stay: Feb.1 - 6, 2014 # of Guest: 5 females pros: -Beautiful, spacious house with gorgeous views of the ocean. Amazing for watching the sunset -Private - No one else was really around. We could play music as loud as we wanted without disturbing anyone. -Very clean -Fresh sheets, towels -Great rooms, comfortable beds -Huge outdoor space -Clean pool -Kitchen stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc so you can do your own cooking if you'd like. -Coffee maker! -House located in a gated community -House keeper lives on property and was very helpful despite the language barrier. -We felt safe here. -The walk into town was 20-30 mins. We never walked at night, only during the day. Cons: -No welcome note or "Things you should know" Guide upon arrival. We had to do a lot of figuring out for ourselves. -We were told we would be met so we could make our final payment - that never happened. -The house is located up a massive hill. Unless you have a car or are fine with walking uphill for 30+ mins, have a backup plan. -Need to supply your own toilet paper. -Need to get your own water. My Recommendations: -Know how to speak Spanish -Don't stay here if you have a young family, are older, have medical conditions or disabilities unless you have a car at your disposal. -Plan for food, water, toilet paper or other supplies -Beware of scorpions. We had an amazing time is San Juan Del Sur and our stay at El arbol de Limon was awesome. It was the perfect start to our trip. I only wish I had known the information above so that I could have been more prepared. Hopefully knowing this information will help.
Response from the owner Thank you for reviewing El Arbol de Limon. I am glad you had so many pros on your list but I would like to address the cons/recommendations so that we may better serve future guests. -I am sorry we do not have a welcome note or book out. I will remedy that right away. Usually, guests arrive during the daytime and Denise is able to go with them to the house to get them all settled in. -You booked though this website and numerous emails were sent to let you know that you needed to complete the transaction before (or when, as we have wifi) you arrived though the website. Flip Key/ Trip Advisor sent them as well as myself to remind you. I am sorry there was such a huge miscommunication , I have now reworded how I let guests know what will happen when they book because of this. I don't want anyone to feel as if they are not sure of what will happen. -Yes, the house is located up a hill. We love the location because it is away from it all. I will make sure to let people know that the walk does include it. -We stock all the bathrooms with a roll of toilet paper but you are responsible for providing any additional that you may need. I spoke with Denise about the water and she said that you went through the entire 5 gallons of drinking water in the first day or two because you were using it for cooking as well because some of the girls you were staying with had never traveled before and were nervous. I assure you that the water is perfectly suitable for cooking, brushing teeth etc. It is not city water, it comes from a well. -As far as food goes I assumed you knew that you needed to provide your own as it is a rental house not a bed and breakfast or hotel. -I don't think speaking Spanish is necessary. If everyone only went to places that they spoke the language it would not be much of an adventure! Again, thank you for letting us know your concerns. It makes a huge difference because now we know what we need to improve on to make future guests as happy and possible.
“Home and views were breathtaking!”
This house exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived to the gorgeous arched gated front entrance we knew we had found something special. The couple who care for the home greeted us warmly and were there to answer any questions, run small errands, and best of all, clean in the well-appointed kitchen after we made meals there. The pool was a total pleasure, and sunsets were incomparable from our vista. It was a 20 minute walk to the footbridge in to town and we made the walk almost daily, foregoing car rental for exercise. Of course you do need a car for any traveling outside Sjds but there are three rental agencies in town. One caveat: keep all food, including bags of rice or sugar, in refrigerator due to tiny ants that can find their way in to anything! You are living in their habitat so expect some "nature" in the house. There are no screens but keeping windows and doors open at night was the best way to catch the cool breezes (although a/c was available, we tried not to use it) and hear the waves on beach below. Night skies there were awesome, with no light pollution to interfere with viewing. Playa Maderas (surfing) and Playa Hermosa are 15 minutes and 25 minutes away, respectively,by car, and both are must-sees. Easy day trips to Granada or Mombacho volcano . Overall, best trip ever!! Muchas gracias a Karla, Yoder y Yaritza!
“Morning coffee on this patio is the epitome of bliss!”
I stayed here with my family for a week and cannot say enough good things about this spectacular place. The view is incredible and the house is just as spectacular. It is wonderful for a large group of people because of its spaciousness. We never once felt like we were on top of each other even though we were 8 people. I can't wait to go back! San Juan del Sur is such a cute beach town and I would be thrilled to go back again and stay at this house.
“Beautiful house, incredible views”
What a stunning location, perched atop the cliffs, every night we would sit and marvel at the sun setting over the Pacific with a Flor de Cana in hand. The house is fantastic too - terracotta floors and large antique looking furniture. Really tastefully done. Can't recommend highly enough.
