“Secluded private paradise!”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2015

This was our first trip to Costa Rica, traveling with our 3 teenage sons. We were very happy with everything about our stay at Casa Inspiracion. It is a quaint house nestled in among the sights and sounds of the forest! Veronica, the owner, could not have been more welcoming and helpful, being accessible by phone at any time to help us plan our stay. We enjoyed a fabulous meal prepared by Giselle, the local neighbor and caretaker. We especially enjoyed the back porch swing, with a view of the Gulf and beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed the setting, stillness, sights, sounds, and sense of adventure Casa Inspiracion had to offer. We toured the Sustainability Center, attended a local fair, swam in the river at a nearby farm with Stuart (the owner's son) as our guide, hiked, zip-lined - it was exactly the type of vacation we were hoping to find. An excellent value for a family of 5.

“Perfect get away”

This is a wonderful "cottage" that was larger than we expected. I traveled with my two children (14 and 11 years old) and found it perfect. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable. The setting is spectacular with tons of life all around you. I spent time just watching birds, geckos, etc around the house. It feels very alive. You are a few km south of Santa Elena so we took a taxi to town and sometimes walked back since it was all down hill. Taxis can be a little expensive compared with everything else but easy. The owners are incredibly helpful and resourceful. This is a terrific place to stay, ease and beautiful, especially if you are looking to be out of town and in your own quiet paradise. We loved it!

“The only Place to Stay In Monteverde”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2013

We (Group of 4) booked this place on a whim based on the pictures on It looked amazing online, but as it turns out, it is even better in real life! The house is rustic, charming, beautiful, and accommodating. Veronica met us when we arrived, walked us down to the house, and we were greeted with a warm "snack" (more like a meal) of fresh homemade tortillas, fried cheese, plantains, fresh lemonade, and more. She also helped us book tours, arrange cabs, catch buses - a full service experience. You have to get dinner made by Veronica's neighbor Gisette - $10 a person, homemade food, delivered to your door, with dessert and drinks. The meal was abundant and delicious. The only problem you may have with this house is it is hard to leave it! It is so beautiful. And as advertised, a birder's paradise. Best place we stayed on our 2+ week trip to Costa Rica!

“this was a total experience!”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2013

The pictures do not do this hideaway any justice. It's a cute house, very rustic with lots of wood trim. But it's the whole package that is so much fun. There are chickens to feed, hummingbirds and butterflies everywhere. The vegetation is lush but there are not many insects. The highlight had to be stepping out the door and picking mangoes, lots of mangoes. Veronica, Stewart and alexander were as helpful as possible, welcoming us with an amazing snack, that was enough for a meal. There were comfortable beds for our family of five. It's easy to take a taxi to get to the town to experience all the options there are in Monteverde. We loved Selvatura where we walked on the bridges, went zip-lining and saw the butterfly and hummingbird areas. It was worth going to. This place was a lovely experience.
