“A most peaceful place.”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2014

We had 14 wonderful days in June2014. A marvellous place to recharge your batteries. We had only one fisherman in our party but we saw him catch many fish. Highly recommended.

“Total relaxation in a beautiful spot”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2014

Our first ever 'fishing' holiday was a birthday gift from myself to my husband - on reflection it couldn't have been better. He caught his PB and fished from dawn to dark for the whole week (apart from one days outing when we couldn't wait to get back to it)I spent my time exploring the local lanes and then sitting in the sun by the lake keeping a log of fish weights and times and helping my husband with landing then photographing the fish for posterity. The little gite was very comfortable and clean with everything you could possibly need and Josie and allan were the perfect hosts - there if needed but never intrusive. We loved it so much that we are returning this year in May - not long to wait now!!

“A treasure to be discovered”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2013

What a wonderful few weeks we had at La Chatouillette last summer (Aug 2012). Josie and allan are wonderful hosts, who respect your privacy, but are always on hand to help out, offer advice about places to visit or lend books, games, etc. The accommodation is great - clean, comfortable and there was everything you could need. Our 16 year old daughter had a fab time here and has fond memories - especially of the wildlife she connected with and the fish she caught too! What a great induction to fishing. Talking of fishing - wow! The biggest fish we ever caught! It's also good to know that Josie and allan take great care of these wonderful creatures and the environment they are in, as well as the beautiful environment that surrounds them. We can't wait to return to this haven in the French countryside. A definite must!

“wonderfull place to spend time”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2013

my wife and i spent a week here in may 2013,and have to say its the best place in france that we have visisted, we brought along our six year old grandson who absolutely loved it here. plenty of walks around the grounds and along the trout stream, playing poo sticks in the stream with my wife gillian. being able flying his little helicopter in the grassy field behind the gite and fishing the beautiful lake, watching grandad catch loads of big carp. the lake is very productive, you just wont stop catching double figure fish. accomodation is wonderfull and very tastefully arranged, all you can ask for from a holiday gite. ideally located between to small villages where to can buy all your needs. the owners, allan and josie are lovely people, very helpful and friendly. id recomend la chatouillette to everyone, as you wont find a better.

“Idyllic rural retreat”

magnificent hospitality and fairy tale gardens with comfortable accommodation. the children played for hours in the river, and in the forests, and their dad caught an enormous fish. there is a games room and trampoline they were never short of activities... such a tranquil setting with very picturesque villages to explore near by. a real haven of tranquility away from the business of life! we will be back!

“Hidden secret of Normandy”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2013

Visited La Chatouillette in September 2012 for a weeks stay found this jewel of a place in the peace and tranquillity of Normandy. the accommodation proved first class as did the welcome we received from the owners allan and Josie who's hospitality greatly added to the pleasure of our stay so much so we returned the following year in May of 2013.The ladies enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and surrounding country side whilst the man made ample use of the exclusive lake to indulge their passion for carp fishing and were amply rewarded with personal bests. Quite still mornings with the sun rising and the mist gently lifting from the stillness of the lake one of the abiding memories from our most recent and enjoyable stay. Would we return You Bet.

“Kind and welcoming hosts in a tranquil and delightful setting”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2013

Allan and Josie gave us the warmest of welcomes to their delightful cottage in this beautiful rural setting. They respected our privacy, but were always on hand if needed. The cottage was well equipped, homely and comfortable, and the grounds, with the carp-filled lake and the surrounding wooded areas, were an endless source of interest and delight. As keen nature lovers and bird watchers we were in heaven!

“A beautiful French rural retreat”

Wish we could have stayed longer. 5 days of wonderful hospitality, fishing and touring the quaint villages surrounding allan and Josie's farmhouse. Fully recommend a peaceful stay here any time it is available.
