“surrounded by beautiful art”
We stayed at this B&B and felt at home with this cozy suite. We loved being surrounded by art, the privacy of our own space to call home for the few nights we stayed in Nanaimo. Thank you for the wonderful stay Bob & Norma. We truly enjoyed ourselves and the personalized care that made our stay feel right at home.
Response from the owner It was a pleasure having you stay with us and we are so pleased you enjoyed it-we do hope to see you again soon! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
“Warm and Welcoming!”
My husband and I recently stayed at this delightful suite, which is located in an upscale area of Nanaimo called Hammond Bay. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by hosts, Richard and Norma Waddell, who helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the artfully and tastefully decorated suite. It is filled with beautiful and unique handmade furniture designed and created by Robert, as well as artwork made by local artists. Many of the pieces are available for purchase, so you are truly staying in a gallery! It was such a pleasure to spend time there, surrounded by art! The suite is very private and quiet and we were able to get a restful sleep. It overlooks a pleasant, well-tended garden and there is also a patio for guests to enjoy. The hosts have thought of everything a traveller might need. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee and tea and wonderful items such as milk, juice, eggs, cheese, bacon, fresh berries and fruit, yogurt, jams and jellies, breads, gourmet pastries, cereal and more! We greatly appreciated the warm, freshly baked raisin scones. There are plush robes - which hang on a whimsical stand, carved and painted to look like a giant green onion - and knitted slippers for guests. If you stay here, be on the lookout for other touches of whimsy as well! The bathroom has an assortment of items: soaps, bath salts and lotions, and there is a separate laundry room with a full size washer and dryer. All in all, we felt very pampered and would definitely stay here again!
Response from the owner Thank you for your kind Review. It was wonderful to meet you both and we are so happy you decided to break up your sailing holiday here in Nanaimo with us!
“2nd time's a charm too!”
My husband and I were pleased to find the Artful Suite available for a return stay this past July. My mother lives in Nanaimo and the suite is close by.This time we extended our stay to ten days! The hosts were gracious and eager to make us comfortable. Norma definitely likes to show off her culinary expertise too.We were so excited to heat up the homemade frozen raspberry scones that awaited us.....soooooo yummy .....can't wait to return for visit #3!!! my wife and i booked the weekend of our wedding at the artful suite to escape the hectic ness of a wedding, the location is great a cross the street from the ocean, its wonderful to walk along pipers. the owners had set out gluten free options for us each morning and great wine and snanks for the nights, the furnature is unreal all hand made in the owners wood shop, its part suite part show case would highly recomend it to anyone

“Cozy, convenient and classy!”
I stayed for one night during my stay in Nanaimo and felt very comfortable and very welcome. The suite is warm and cozy, fresh and clean and nicely decorated with lovely art pieces. What a great concept! There was a nice selection of foods in the full kitchen to enjoy for the continental breakfast. The location is convenient, not far from the ferry. I would definitely stay again.

“Perfect, perfect, perfect”
I was working in BC and needed a place to spend a couple of days and unwind. I found this rental on flipkey and it was exactly what I wanted. Convenient to town and beach and trails with parking right outside the door. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped. I brought in my own groceries and loved spending time just in the suite itself as well as the surrounding areas. All kinds of nice little "fancy hotel" touches while still feeling perfectly welcoming and comfortable. Gorgeous art and furniture everywhere. Loved it.
Response from the owner Julie Thank you so much for taking the time to review our suite. We are so happy that you chose the Artful Suite and that it worked well for your stay here in Nanaimo. Norma & Robert
